The best sounding peal of change ringing bells in the world, in my opinion. The tenore are classic pre war Taylors with the drone so typical of Taylor heavy tenors of that period. Obviously by the sound of the ringing these are inexperience ringers and certainly not on a heavy 12. But of course you only learn by experience and we all have to start somewhere. No I am not master bell ringer on 12 but like most I do know what great change ringing should sound like and nothing beats ringing to a high standard. Im happy ringing Surprise major or Stedman triples well. Much prefer 10 bell ringing, its sounds so bright and rounded.
Agree with you about York being the best, they most certainly are! The reason for the mixed striking was because this was part of the young ringers’ visit. Thankfully, we have a lot of keen youngsters who will undoubtedly improve over time and get better at 12 bell ringing!
