Holy crap this is such a bop compared to the new one I like the new one for the...uh...snappiness? It’s just really classy somehow, whereas this one is a bit frantic.
I like the drum in the background, idk why. It's just- I love 2005 versions they're just so "raw" I guess I'll say? I really love both versions of all of these songs, and it's somewhat refreshing to hear different versions that aren't specifically covers, just older versions/drafts. New and old, both great in their own ways.
I really like both versions, in the regular version they seem to be trying to hide a terrible meaning in a harmless song, but here it’s just very cruel and aggressive, masterpieces!
i discovered the 2005 variants of these songs because i clicked on some download link for mmmm and the feeling of knowing it's the same song but so slightly off was so off putting. i even showed my sister who likes tally hall and she didnt notice the difference, i felt like i was in the twilight zone
@@perfidiousprophet that's awesome!! i've p much finished mine (after listening and watching MANY live performances to see what Zubin does!) but it'd be cool to see urs
These were the og tally hall songs on youtube like 10 years ago. Older versions of greener, two wuv, ruler of everything, playing in the sand, uhhh and the whole marvins basically. The only remastered them, or i guess actually released the album from a legit stuido, a few years
imo I feel like the rerelease kinda nailed the atmosphere/intent of the lyrics while the original has way more character and soul, I like them both a lot
i think this one and the newer one are both really good. they both have something special about them! The newer one is more classy, less rock and roll and slower which is cool, whereas this one is faster and kind of rap-like and faster and frantic/desperate energetic. Both of them have there own vibe and feel and i can appreciate both of them
yknow I first came to this version of The Bidding not really liking it for how clunky and disjointed it is compared to the 2008 re-record. I've come to appreciate it way more not just for how aggressive and simple it feels, but also for just how RAW it is. It has so much more passion and feel than the 2008 version, and just feels like a silly band having silly fun. I love that so much
just some things i notice here: voice isn't as deep honestly seems more faster pace or has kinda an extra beat a few extra oo-oo-oo's in the background at 0:42 to 0:51 1:36 to 1:39 the "going twice going thrice" kinda has an extra voice, idk how 2 explain 1:50 the background voice that said "dont shop around" is a lil quieter, along with a more noticeable guitar 2:10 the extra voice sounds a lil more robotic? idk if thats the word but ye
I like the newer version better I feel this one is too fast, almost like they were in a rush to sing it is one way to describe it Don’t get me wrong, this version is great too, I just like the newer one because of the way the music changes and how dramatic it sounds. You can kinda get a sense of each narrator’s personality, or at least I feel like that. With this one it feels like one person rather than multiple but that’s just an opinion of mine :)
This may sound weird, but comparing this to the newer one, it gives Kids Bop energy in the first part. It’s all just a certain upbeat, it sorta loses that Kids Bop vibe later on.
is it just me or was there a slide whistle playing n the background at 0:59 when they say "SOLD!". ive checked every version of the bidding and there is no slide whistle. only an electric guitar.
My theory is that each verse of this song presents a different guy trying to date . "I've been sleeping in a cardboard box Spending every dollar at the liquor shop And even though I know I haven't got a lot I'll try to give you love until the day you drop." (The Alcoholic guy) "I've been training like a Pavlov dog Let my independence out to take a hike All you got to do is activate my bell And I'll fetch you anything you like" (The needy, over giving guy/aka a Simp) "I've been in like a thousand times Dated every woman in the atmosphere I've been to every continent Broken all the hearts in every hemisphere And if I'm not the type of guy you like to circumvent Just remember not to love me when I disappear" (The player/Pick up artist) "I graduated at the top I like to take advantage of the bourgeoisie So if you have a fantasy of being a queen Maybe you should blow a couple bucks on me" (highly educated guys/CEO/ very wealthy and successful) At the end the "he's sold" at the end represents the "Mr. Right/perfect" man who is already taken.
Any physical release of MMMM after 2005 and before 2008 should have these versions, sadly I don't think you can officially purchase them digitally anymore
Just a rerelease. If you're wanting some more Tally content, I suggest searching "We Think We're Playing in a Band," it's a tribute album which features covers by several people who worked on Tally Hall related content, such as Casey Shea and Courtney Flynn from the Good & Evil tour and Minimall who were featured in Joe's solo album Joe Hawley Joe Hawley.

i think the reason this is more "boppy" is because it's (pretty sure) in swing rythm, and the drums sound jazzier.
The later release of the song is in the same light swing rhythm, but the faster speed and extra drums just make it much more pronounced in this one
Holy crap this is such a bop compared to the new one
