The way mario fucking lunges at her at the start is such a good addition to this version of the fight
She took control of Peach. Now it's personal.
Some anime shit, I need to see this fight animated.
Oh, that ruled. That was the most epic thing I'd seen in a while.
Language
the original was about a bad situation getting so much worse yet there's a tiny bit of hope.
This is now about Mario standing on the absolute precipice of hell itself as he faces down something that's possessing his love and is about to destroy most of civilization and enslave what's left. He cannot fuck up with this slim chance he was given.
Quite....Quite the jump with an already great final boss theme
this theme hits even harder under its implication. the whole cutscene that played prior showing everyone you've met throughout your journey encouraging you to keep fighting is very sweet, but if mario fails it will quickly become a disturbing tragedy. EVERYBODY you've met across your entire adventure is wholly and royally fucked if mario loses; there is absolutely no alternative.
Whoa, even here, they went all-out. This music says, "Funny game? No, we're not messing around!" No silly background beats, none of that. Just straight Save The World music!
She was a tough boss. BUT I BEAT HER!
@@ivanthegreativan_rodriguez4958 Yeah, after my trauma of 3 years of childhood trying to beat her, and now that has been 20 years, i became good at the game that i tried a perfect run, without any allies or mario died (but getting revived by life shroom won't count as perfect run ruined), and at the end, i won, i beat the game without any ally died, shadow queen was super scary, greatest final boss of the entire franchise for being hard, epic, hope, lore, and childhood
WE'RE POWER BOUNCING FRAME-PERFECTLY FOR THIS ONE
"Welcome to the salty spitoon how tough are you?"
"How tough am I...how tough am I? I beat the Final boss of Paper Mario the Thousand year door on my first try!"
'Yeah so?"
"Without using power lift."
I Did it without Power bounce or any Danger strats. Thank goodness for Life shrooms.
Same. I really went out of my way to ‘never’ use power lift against any bosses. only regular enemies I didn’t want to spend that long fighting edit: I said power life instead of lift
I just beat it almost an hour ago only relying on Sweet Feast. It was a nail biter but I kept getting Bingo to keep me in. That's a whole run of the game without a Game Over.
This is a great one, haha. Powerlift is really that overpowered.
That would be me…but to be fair, I had an entire inventory full of Ultra Shrooms and Jammin’ Jellies, so I was never truly in any real danger.
I love how even though the Shadow Queen can be hurt now, she's still not gonna go down easy. You have a chance but you're still on the back foot the whole time.
I’ve beaten the Shadow Queen before, and she wasn’t easy. Steals your HP and hits hard with those energy waves.
Unlike Sticker Star where you can barely hurt Bowser when he's giant then like two turns later you're a god who can tear him to shreds easily lol
She was, so far, the only boss that actually made me see the Game Over screen because I was _not_ aware of how hard she hits and how much her fully-formed hands spam HP drain.
_(And also because confusion is an annoying status effect to deal with when you just wanna heal.)_
I had P Up D Down on both Mario and the partners, and the battle was really tense, even for someone like me who beat the game multiple times. I especially shat my pants when she does her stat boost cranking her raw damage to 11 (due of -1). Good thing the hands don't get the boost, cause I would have been REALLY fucked otherwise
@@iamthestrong927 The breath attacks were so annoying in the remake. They changed the timing and I couldn't block any of them. I was lucky she only did the poison one
You could play this for someone whos never played TTYD and they would NOT be able to tell you its from a mario game, and holy shit I love it for that.
Love that she was buffed for this fight to her original Japanese difficulty
What's the difference?
Wait it was supposed to be more difficult? To me, the fight in the remake wasn’t that hard. If anything, it was on the same level as Whacka. A fun boss with some challenge.
@@shinypony92 In japanese version, some of the boss attack becomes unblockable
@@Master_Fortune The English version is the same way
THEY DID NOT HAVE TO GO THIS HARD!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's literally their job to go this hard
Oh yes they f-cking did! The Shadow Queen deserves nothing less!
Yes they did. They HAD to go this hard.
Mario has NOT caught a break in this era of gaming. Aside from his usual bouts with Bowser (and sometimes Donkey Kong), in the past 7 years he's fought (among others):
* A literally-shocking dragon from the desolate remains of a kingdom
* Another powerful dragon(?), albeit in computer virus form
* Two unfathomably powerful entities of light and dark
* A haunted tennis racket that packs way more of a punch than you'd expect
* His third painting prison in a row
* A one-winged angel who has beef with a certain soldier
* The same computer-virus dragon(?), only this time it possessed Rosalina
* A deranged origami king hellbent on eradicating all Toads
* The same tyrannical blacksmith that threatened the Mushroom Kingdom in his early years
And of course
* An ancient demon witch who lays waste to any civilization in her path and claims its remains for herself, who Mario could've sworn he defeated way back when...
He could really use a vacation at some point
(Preferably without any interruptions)
Mario shouldn't take a vacation. Last time he took one he got arrested afer being framed for graffiti art. He still has PTSD from Isle Delfino prison.
Soooo…
-Ruined Kingdom Dragon
-Megadragon Bowser
-Galeem and Dharkon
-Lucien
-Luigi’s Mansion 3
-Sephiroth
-Cursa
-King Olly
-Smithy
-Shadow Queen
He and Kirby need a break
@@ThunderMouse1999 Pretty sure Mario Tennis Aces' antagonist is Lucien and Super Mario RPG is Smithy

Followed by Supernova
*gets triple shine sprite*
*_Supernova again_*

Fire Drive
Fire Jynx
Power Jump
This somehow gets better everytime I relisten to it
I can say this for many of the new tracks. I probably first had to get used to some of them at first because of nostalgia.
I can say this IF IT AINT BROKEN DON'T FIX IT
@@PrinceThumper01you can play with the original tracks on the remake. Don't know why you're whining.
Yes
What I ment with the statement is that is great 😂 have you heard if it ain’t broken don’t fix it. It means they made it better and did not ruined it
Here I thought the original was unnerving, this is amped here.
Definitely one of THE best final bosses the come out of the Mario RPG line up, very difficult, but once you get a run where things go well and you know what to do against her, it’s so damn satisfying to watch that HP finally tick down to zero. Took me three tries to take her out, but it was all worth it, I look forward to the future of Paper Mario now with this remake in reality, along with the fact that Super Mario RPG was also remade, it’s a glimmer of hope, folks, embrace it, Godspeed
I beat this game yesterday for the first time, and wow this finale was incredible, I had already seen the finale in the original game on youtube as a kid but actually experiencing it in the remake for the first time with the remixed music was magical. this game is definitely one of my all time favourites and is my favourite mario RPG
I've seel a little over half the whole original game on UA-cam, so I also had a gist of what was going on, but man, actually beating the Shadow Queen with my own eyes is definitely an experience to behold for sure.
I've never seen Bobbery's backstory in the original before either, so when I read the text dialogues for the first time, I was completely caught off-guard and basically cried.
I Always finish her with Supernova.
I considered doing that…but than I decided to bring her all the way down to 1 HP and finish her with a single, weak stomp. Like I didn’t even even do the Action Command, I just let Mario stomp on her one time and that was that.
I did, however, kill two superbosses with Supernova.
I made sure Madame Flurrie kissed her as a final hit. 💜
I finished her off with Spring Jump. What better way to defeat an ancient evil as the Jumpman himself?
I let Vivian finish her off as a sign of rebellion against her queen.
This, my friends...this is how you remix perfection. The remake as a whole is just amazing, doesnt cut content from the original, it adds to this already amazing experience and i'm so happy I got to experience the original as a kid and the remake as an adult :')
It cut the best joke in the game about luigi crossdressing
@@calcium7434 i'm pretty sure they kept that in. I remember him mentioning that he had to dress up as a bride to get a compass piece when doing my first playthrough in the remake.
Same here - this may be one of the greatest remakes I've ever played! ^w^ (saying this as a kid who played this game to death back in the 2000s lol)
@@calcium7434 It's still there.

This game took an extremely dark turn for a Mario game, but at least the music makes up for it
This theme makes me think of the Count Bleck theme... but in a better scenario
You know, sometimes i can get pissy about a remaster missing the point of the original song, or when a remaster is outperforming the original, but leaving some of the bits of the original behind that i really liked, but with this, it's pretty well-balanced, the original is still there if you listen for it, and while this song has the better instruments, the original still has an advantage in its simplicity and its ghostly sound effects, which sound more like background noise in this version, as apposed to a main element. It's a style change, but that's for the best. And if this is so good, imagine what they could do with a remastered, localized mother 3. I mean, we did get Mario & Luigi brothership, and Nintendo is good at pandering to their audience, so i wouldn't put it off the table.
WE MAKIN IT OUTTA ROGUEPORT WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥
Heavy Metal AF!
the first time I got a game over was here... and that's a good thing... This was one of the best rpg final bosses i've fought in a while
I like this version a lot, but at 0:58 i feel like the original does way better
O.g always the best, still a godly game. 🐉🙏
I agree they freaking butchered that part.
It just sounds like a completely different section tbh
Totally agree. I liked the lead synth in that part during the og version
I didn't even recognize that section at first.
I think it's because they were trying to make the transition from synth to the later section's strings.
Alternatively the composer mistook the Synth's importance in that section, however the opening shows an understanding of the Synth contradict that.
“Enough! This ends, now!”
0:58 wish it used more of these vocals. best addition to the song.
2:20 😎👌
THIS IS FIRE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Arguably better than the Original GameCube version which was already amazing!
I don't know if in the 2004 game, defense did something for magic and fire breath attacks or I'm forgetting, but boy I had a fun time super guarding with 20 hp, 30 fps and 50~ bps lol
I CANT DODGE THE LIGHTNING
I find this version way more intense and more epic than the original. I do like the original, but this remix is better in my opinion.
The count bleck theme can be heard. Interesting
That’s not the Count Bleck theme. It’s just a C harmonic minor scale, the notes aren’t the same.
@@PianistTanooki it is 100% a little Easter egg. Notes do not need to be 100% the same
More likely hearing something that isn't there than an easter egg
@DissposedData435 maybe so but just because there are some similarities doesn't mean that this is an Easter egg as you claim. In case you weren't aware, the same composer made all of the music so of course there will be similarities with the sound but that doesn't in any way make them the same. It's a common theme with video game composers.
Idk what some people are smoking but that is 100% Count Bleck's theme as a nice little reference. Very cool

If Dimentio, Shadow Queen, King Boo, Cackletta, Antasma, Fawful, & Smithy teamed up against Mario & his crew....... 😈🔥

@@jayblizzyyyyy And if Bowser meets Shadow Queen......... 😳
Its like nintendo is daring GA to make a better metal version of this.

Then you’d have something very similar to the Primordial goddess of the night, Nyx. 👁👁
@@sebastianestrada3697 And if Bowser ever meets the Shadow Queen........ 😈
@@cromaxthedarkangelglumiith5659 That would have been a sick twist if Bowser barged in after getting spanked by Mario after he administered a similar spanking to Grodus--anyway, Bowser barges in alone, sees possessed Peach, and she makes him the same offer she made Mario...to which Bowser says the kid friendly version of "Hell yes!", becomes her servant, and then you have to deal with basically Star Rod Bowser AND an ancient demon witch from the depths of the Underwhere.
@@ArynBendah Last but not least: Dimentio marrying Shadow Queen to take over Rosalina's Observatory, Mushroom Kingdom, Isle Delfino, BeanBean Kingdom, Pi'illo Kingdom, Yoshi's Island, DK Island, & even Bowser's Kingdom! ☠️
Great remix, but I miss when the start of the song sounded like a swarm of bees
0:31 honestly was hoping for a guitar rift but this works as well
As much as this one is awesome, there is something about the Original that I like more
The Shining Vibes
Am I the only one who wants to see the shadow queen return as a recurring antagonist in future games?
Can’t wait to hear this in the next Brally fight
2:13 .
My take? Awesome song, but it's lacking that certain dark mysticism of the original. They seemed like they wanted to go full on metal and choir on this one which, while definitely works and gives the original GC version a run for it's money this one feels like they tried... too hard if that makes sense. I guess it feels too modernized with the Origami King orchestration for my tastes: like this is from someone who made an unofficial remix instead of a canon Nintendo score. But then again, might just be looking at the original with my nostalgia goggles on.
Nah, I think the soundtrack trying a bit too hard is somewhat of a throughline with the entire remake. Many of the tracks feel too busy, in my opinion, and lack a distincitve direction at times, opting to throw everything at the wall at once.
@@DefinitivNichtSascha Yeah, the Rogueport one is is atrociously unfitting. It sounds like it would play in a fantastical happy place of friendship & bright colors like a Mario Kart track or something. Instead of basically crime ally in the sunlight.
@D_YellowMadness The fun part about complaints like these is that they know they made the soundtrack a lot different.
That's why the GameCube badge exists, for the people that dislike the difference. So in essence, there's literally nothing to complain about.
As someone who loves the og to death, I actually like majority of the new tracks! Only song I honestly like more than the remake is Cortez’s theme. Idk how to describe it but the OG is just way better imo of giving this creepy dead pirate than what the remake did
@@SleepyBuggo Yeah, Cortez was the only one that was pretty meh
