Lovely video. Are those interactive paints you use? I've just started using them and they've changed my painting life completely. As I'm sure you will know if you do use them, it's like using oils and acrylics in one. Amazing paints, especially with the unlocking formula. Thanks for these videos, they are great

Hi horrorfan24 thanks for kind words. Yes I have been using the Interactive acrylics and love them. They are very similar to using oils with out the need for mediums etc. Loving them. Thanks for watching

Tried this painting using acrylics but the dark to light just didn't work. The gum trees ended up looking like a blue/green (dark) blob with paler green/yellow green highlights. Even adding the trunks didn't help. The gum trees in your oil tutorial of the river embankment were far better. The sky was clearly visible, just as it is in the photo you showed of Capertee. I ended up painting over the mess (took loads of white to cover the dark as well) and will retry using the oil painting method and see how that comes out (can't be worse). My friend just south of Dublin (ireland) has a long hedge of eucalyptus trees and there is also a large one just across the road in the hedgerow belonging to the local farmer, and they show quite a bit of the sky through their canopy of leaves. They are really quite attractive as individuals and even as a hedge are still quite light at the tops. Will see how the repaint goes. Thanks for the class but I don't think the dark to light theory works for me.
