This body style was what the c3 corvette was originally supposed to look like. At the last minute the designers changed their minds and gave the public the dulled down design for the c3 we see today. This made a lot of people disappointed. John Silva decided to produce the car himself, taking a c3 and changing the body. The original Silva built cars have a very thick and heavy fiberglass body. I found one of his cars about 5yrs ago. The hood alone with the headlight buckets and mounting frame weighs a good 200lb. The car i have has full documentation from the original owner and includes the build sheets signed by Silva. Silva was the first to sell this body type to the public, Chevy tried to stop him, but there was a high demand for the design. Soon after, Motion Performance started making the cars, and a cheap kit was made available so that anyone could alter their car themselves.The kits were thin and did not survive long in the hot sun. If the hood is not stiff enough and flexes too much, they can crack diaginally down the middle. This also cracks the paint. I think its one of the greatest car designs ever. Just think, back then all the cars on the road had a ton of chrome on them with tail fins and huge steel grills like giant boilers, and then this car design came along and blew peoples minds. Its a piece of history that was way ahead of its time back then, and still is today.

those are all copy cats of the creator of the original Maco shark corvette by john silva look up on Internet I'm his son and he built 125 of them in the 60s and 70s all had there own DMV regeneration numbers.
That's either a Silva Maco Shark or a Motion Maco Shark. Either way, it is NOT the real Chevrolet-built 1966 drivable Mako Shark-II. The 1965 non-drivable Mako Shark-II was brought back into Chevrolet's design studio and disassembled after the drivable version was completed in October 1965. When the 1968 Corvette came out, the drivable Mako Shark-II was brought back into Chevrolet's design studio, was cut up and made into the 1969 Manta Ray. There are LOTS of details on this kit version that are WAY off. But, it does look like a decent build.

I think that's a replica, but they did a DAMN nice job of it though. It looks awesome!

Was the first mako shark a 1964 ???? This one looks good, but sure looks like a c3. Your father did a owesome job creating these works of art.

It's a Motion I have a new body I bought in 1982 from Motion they told me they had not made any for years.
