The Greatest Performance Ever by The Greatest of all Time. 9 years 2 months and does her own arrangements. It's like she becomes the song, if that makes sense. She is the Greatest Story Teller ever,
I hear this as Angelina's love song to the world. She doesn't care if you don't love her, she will just keep on bringing love to the world with her music.
The band, they too knocked it out....and they're a Norwegian jazz band! They are just as good as any jazz band you could have heard in Greenwich Village back in the 60's.
Oh I just LOVE first time reactions to this amazing performance..👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 First, the furrowed brow, then the huge smile, then the "WHHAAAAT!!" face, then the "How in the world" pensive look... Crazy ride, right? Absolutely astounding performance, and yes . Now you're all in, and an OFFICIAL 😇... Welcome to the family, there's ALWAYS room for one more FANGELINA... PEACE, we'll definitely enjoy your journey with you! 🎵🎤🎶😉👌🏻
great reaction . i love seeing new reactors listen to this performance it is such a shock to their systems lol.the rabbit hole is very deep with this young lady. she arranges all her songs and has always known what she wants to do with each song she records. at 16 now she has already accomplished more than a lot of supposed great artists .she has toured the world , raised millions for charities ,played at huge events for very important people ie. the nobel peace prize awards , the brilliant minds conference , she has sung for multiple heads of state as well as collaborating with david foster and being personally invited to quincy jones birthday celebration in london . and she is only just really starting her career , kinda mind blowing really . enjoy
No matter what your anticipation might have been there is no way anyone could have expected to see and hear this! 9 years old! Thanks for your terrific reaction. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Your expressions throughout the video spoke volumes!
Subscribed! She is an outstanding artist, and an outstanding human being. It was wonderful to see her so happy to be back on stage in Norway a few weeks ago. People who attended are still floating on cloud nine, - nothing compares to hearing and seeing her live!
This is one of the rare time that Angelina went beast mode vocally. (because she's channelling Screamin Jay Hawkins) And it was told that after this performance she was adviced not to do this kind of heavy vocal again to protect her then young voice. And Angelina took that advice and did not abused her vocal growing up. And we got to hear and appreciate today the result of that discipline.
Welcome to the Angelina Rabbit Hole squirrel she is a true musical prodigy as you go through her songs that she does all the way up to now that she is 16 years old you will be stunned she has now signed a record deal with Republic records she was signed at the age of 14 and was designated as their top up and coming artists she has an album coming out in the fall of 2022 and her performances in the concerts that she gave over in Norway in July are well worth watching her rendition of I have nothing by Whitney Houston his jaw dropping how can a 16 year old girl do a song that well when Whitney was 28 when she did it imagine Angelina in 12 years
Now that you've reacted to this, you should search for a video called "I Put a Spell on You - Angelina Jordan Reaction - Every Reaction Ever", on the PO Talks channel. It's a compilation of clips of lots of different people reacting to this performance you just watched. It's fun to see their reactions, but that's not why I'm recommending it to you. You need to watch the end-credits sequence, where PO alternates between clips of (originator of the song) Screamin' Jay Hawkins performing the song live when he was around 60, I think, and the corresponding moments from Angelina's performance. You will see how she is taking all the "over-the-top" stuff he's doing (hence the moniker, "Screamin' Jay") and adapting it to make it fit better into the music arrangement - literally making those moments "more musical", as I like to put it. Pretty impressive for a 9-year-old…
Yes, this has become a classic on its own. Here, Angelina, at 9 yrs 2 mos old, has captured the essence of the original song by Screamin' Jay Hawkins in 1956 in her arrangement. In the intro you can see her writing out and passing last-minute changes to the arrangement to a member of the band. They may have gone in that day and been taken aback by playing for a nine-year-old, but by the end of the day they were calling her, "The Boss." After auditioning for Norway's Got Talent at seven and winning it at eight, she was literally a professional by age 9! Now, at sixteen, she has written 5 songs, sung two written for her, and covered about 170 other songs of 75 different artists. She is signed to Republic Records. She is the real deal.
Angelina always sings the song her way , but always respects the original artist, which is Screaming Jay Hawkins . Angelina’s first love is Jazz, thanks to her grandma Mery Zamani. She can sing anything though. I hope you’ve become an Angel 👼 now if so welcome. You’ve got a lot of catching up to do though I’m so happy you’ve started reacting to Angelina.Did I hear you say Elvis as well my idol. I’ve got my King and my Queen couldn’t be happier. Great Reaction love from Denise in Yorkshire England 🏴👼👸🏻🦶🦶👏👏👏😘👋
You are most welcome onboard our trip with Angelina. No doubt. And as you will understand, by listening to Mona Simone`s version, you just did not go backwards far enough. Angelina went straight to the source, and went for a revitalisation of even this song, to honor and tribute good old "screaming" Jay Hawkins. You know she was born into the age of I-pads and such, and she startet at 3-4 years old to dive into the world of music. She really gave herself some serious historie lessons on her way. In 1956 (a great year BTW) Jay Hawkins released this song, and I`m confident Angelina has studied all of his versions of it from YT. I guess she was a few years older as she got to his "pages", or she would have been easily more frightened than fascinated by that guy. And her she is, paying his tribute, and for a large part of it, in her own arrangement.
Thank you for your enthusiastic reaction to Angelina and I'm looking forward to the next one. Norwegian born Angelina began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Influences include Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Diana Washington, Adele, Frank Sinatra, Amy Winehouse, Lana del Rey, and many more. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became the youngest ever vocalist to win an international Got Talent Show! She also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Angelina sings in English which unbelievably is her third language! She is a true prodigy. She is now 16, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and several originals. A major attraction to Angelina's music is the emotion and attitude she conveys, although she has not experienced the life events! She is known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices as she can adjust her tone, style, and register for any song or genre. She was signed by Republic Records over a year ago. She is not widely promoted yet, however, as her family has decided to wait until she graduates school, so she has a normal childhood. Here is a link from ages 6 to 16 to all her 200+ chronological performances, including five originals. These encompass additional performances to those on her channels. m.ua-cam.com/play/PL2v8kgVeo4EbYDVnRwObjETfWpXbzbgIO.html Why does Angelina sing barefoot? When she was 6 years old, she was in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes and has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond. Angelina penetrates hearts because she is humble and has compassion for humanity. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world and spread love and peace. I trust this will cause you to embrace her as millions of others have, and that you will continue down the rabbit hole from which you will not want to escape. Peace and love. ua-cam.com/users/AngelinaJordanOfficial
This is absolutely a milestone in Angelina's young career. It not only highlights her insane vocal capabilities at SUCH a young age but also of her " knowledge of her craft" as you said. Have your seat belt on for her Suspicious Minds cover, another Masterpiece!
Great reaction and commentary. As someone has already stated below, you need to watch the original Screamin Jay Hawkins version to fully understand how she crafted this masterpiece, The Screamin Jay version is very theatrical and I read somewhere that Angelina described this song as being about " Love, desperate love". The picture on the candle is Screamin Jay Hawkins. Im ready to follow your journey, Angelina is amazing.
Angelina Jordan is paying Homage to Screaming Jay Hawkins from 1956 Perfection oh and to think that this 9 year old put and directed this composition on her own.
Always love watching a reactor’s first time watching this performance. Your face… 😳 Loved your reaction and look forward to your continuing journey. Thanks.
Noone is really ready for their first time listening to this. It makes little difference how many comments they read about this beforehand. It always starts with "how cute", quickly turning to amazement and disbelief. It is greatness in action.
She did this as a tribute to the original artist, "Screamin' Jay Hawkins" who is on the candle she is holding at the beginning. ua-cam.com/video/7kGPhpvqtOc/v-deo.html By the way, this is "her" arrangement. You see her writing on a piece of paper and the producer reading it and smiling. He said in a later interview that she made some last minute changes and referred to them as "her wishes". The band affectionately referred to her as "The Boss" because they said she knew exactly what she wanted and how she wanted it done.
It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). "Screamin" Jay Hawkins original "I put A Spell on You" ua-cam.com/video/orNpH6iyokI/v-deo.html
I like your thought that this was a watershed moment for Angelina's development, Squirrel. I see this performance and her recording of I'm Still Holding Out For You at age 10 as her entree into the ranks of the professionals. She had reached the stage of being comfortable with creating, arranging, and performing and had recorded a couple of world-class cuts. Her next leap forward happened recently with her covers of Suspicious Minds and Mount Everest. Nice reaction, Squirrel! I'm subbing for more Angelina.
Excellent reaction should start at beginning it's a better way to enjoy the journey! 1st time in studeo, "I Who Have Nothing", Tom Jone Cover done in 1 take, she was 6 or just turned 7, not sure. There is a lot of contreversy on that, but it is awesome no matter the age, God Bless!
Angelina’s version is paying tribute to the original by Screaming J Hawkins, and at 9 years old arranges this her self, she is the boss and even at this age has been known to correct an orchestra, I’ve been attending Angelina’s live concerts in Norway 🇳🇴 this previous week, her stage presence and performances are absolutely amazing, Angelina is special and can sing anything, her performance of Bohemian Rhapsody on AGT is so soulful and amazing, after that performance Brian May and Roger Taylor sent Angelina a twitter message congratulating her on her performance, great reaction thanks!
You just said what every reactor before you has said... I want to listen to more. Welcome to the AJ rabbit hole. She's now 16 and is light years ahead of her 9 year old self. This song suckers you in with a sweetly smiling face like she just went out for ice cream. Next thing you know, she's in a sound booth with her game face on, looking like a music ninja. She put a spell on me the first time I heard this.
Sir, if you want to be blown away again, check 2 early covers she did one at 10 « Feeling Good » and the second at 12 « It’s A Man World » both live. And these are only 2 examples among more than 170 masterpieces that she has recorded, not counting her originals.
Hi, Squirrel! Thank you for sanother fine reactioin toi Angelina. As you wilkl have realised Angelina's p erformance ofthis song was entirely different from the performance by Nina Simone. I urge you to listen to the performance by Screamin Jay Hawkins whis, although it is linked below, Itake the liberty of posting it again, just to emp, hasise how I important Ifeel it is for you to watch it. Screamin Jay Hawkins - I plut a spell on you - ua-cam.com/video/7kGPhpvqtOc/v-deo.html Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956. She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. Things I found particularly worthy of note in this video are (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand (g) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.
Actually a Screamin Jay Hawkins song ❤️ That is the man on the candle 👍 Check out his original... the arrangement she did here is awesome and the performance is mindblowing given she is 9years and 2 months old here 😳❤️ The grit, and soulful performance was amazing ❤️ Have a nice day 👍
To all Angelina fans, You may have heard of the UA-cam algorithm but are not aware of its importance. The algorithm is critical as it determines how frequently a channel gets exposure on UA-cam. UA-cam doesn't make clear exactly how their algorithm works, but the following recommended actions appear to boost the analytics for your favorite reactors. We are aware that many viewers do not really know how to best support the reactor or their favorite artist. It is a priority that reaction channels receive benefit for their algorithm, and you should help by watching the entire video, liking, commenting, and subscribing to their channel. The same is equally important to the featured artists! We are providing here Angelina's most important links. Watch till the end, like, comment, and subscribe to her channels also. Hopefully reactors will paste these links in their description (if they haven't already), and will do the same for other young artists. This support for the artist also increases fan loyalty to the reaction channel. Well Squirrel, you've done it now. There is no going back after this one! We knew this would knock you for a loop! This is how the song was meant to be sung, even over the Screamin J version imo. Really enjoying your reactions to Angelina, can't wait for the next one!
Thanks for another great reaction - this time to Angelina's masterful interpretation & performance (which she arranged herself) - at the age of 9. But as young as she is here - in order to better understand her influencers - highly recommend going back to all 4 of her Norway Got Talent performances (Gloomy Sunday, I'm A Fool To Want You, Bang Bang & Summertime) - at ages 7-8. Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.
She was 9 yrs and 2 months old here. By this time she had already won Norway's Got Talent with her audition song, Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday" going viral with 5M views the first week. She went on to perform on stages in Europe, Asia and America singing on TV shows like "The View" in America. Most of her performances were charity events where she helped raise millions for the needy children of the world. She was encouraged by Steven Van Zandt, lead guitarist for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band to act on the Netflix series "Lilyhammer" as a nightclub singer performing "I'm A Fool To Want You". She performed "What A Wonderful World" to a huge outdoor crowd at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in front of the Crown Prince of Norway and the prize winners, one of which is Malala, the youngest recipient ever of the prize. For another incredible performance here she is at 10 years old on stage with a great band, the classic FEELING GOOD: ua-cam.com/video/CCTe7qaNtME/v-deo.html Loving your journey Squirrel!!!
One of Angelina's many astonishing talents is her ability to envision the possibilities for a song to the point of near artistic perfection, and then to actually bring that vision to life in her own magical performance of it, even by the age of 9!
She did it from the original version. Screaming Jay Hawkins the guy on the mug. Also did change ups a beginning. Now wait till you hear that version and that she came up with this. I know it boggles the mind, what you are hearing vs seein. Cheers
That was a great insight about how Angelina sang this song. In fact, the band gave her the moniker "The Boss" because she was doing some insisting. She is so confident in her choices, and they seem perfect.
Great reaction ! And yes, Angelina was 9 y.o. here. Not 9, like in ALMOST 10. She was barely 9. (9 years 2 months.) The reason why I even take the time to comment on that is pretty obvious to me, when you think of how crazy fast kids develop at this age. ONE year is a HUGE amount of development time when you're 9 🙂 I see that Gary Rogers has dropped a link to Screamin' Jay Hawkins' version here, the version to which Angelina made HER arrangement. And when I say HER arrangement, I really mean HER arrangement. From at least this performance and onwards, Angelina has been arranging all of her covers and renditions. It takes a very special kind of genius to be able to to that in this way at that age. Angelina is widely known as THE BOSS among the musicians she plays with. Anyway, to get a totally new level of understanding of exactly WHAT Angelina did here, you just have to listen to the Screamin' Jay Hawkins performance. Then listen to her again. It will be well worth your time, 100% guaranteed. I'll give you the link here as well : ua-cam.com/video/7kGPhpvqtOc/v-deo.html I have watched all of your 3 reactions to Angelina so far, and I subscribed after the first one. Now I subscribed once more. I'm not sure if it helps tho...LOL I'll just make double sure that I didn't unsubscribe instead. That would really sukc right ? Much love from Norway♥♥♥♥♥
You are so right about the development. the just 9 vs almost 10 is huge she seems so far ahead of her time though. Appreciate making sure you didn’t unsubscribe 😂. Have a great day.
Nice reaction! Jazz is in this young girl's blood thanks to her grandmother Mery Zamani playing this type of music around her. This is where her love of jazz began. This is how she discovered one of her major influences, Billie Holiday. Angelina once said in an interview that if it weren't for Billie Holiday, there would be no Angelina Jordan...
😃 Squirrel, sir, Angelina was gifted with a tiny bit bigger larynx, than usual, hence the deep voice. The other gift from the universe, is her sky high IQ. As a few of us had worked with highly gifted children, we can definitly confirm this. This is a 9 year old body with the mind of a 29 year old lady. When you read her book, published at 9 yo, you discover sentences and words written when 6 yo, most adults can not comprehend. Sir, stay safe and sound. Elmar from Germany.
Her IQ is exceeded only by sweetness, kindness, and generosity. She is called the Barefoot Princess because of the encounter she recorded in her book (Between Two Hearts). She was in the Middle East (Tehran, I believe) at the age of 6 when she met a homeless orphan girl on the street who was offering to weigh passersby with bathroom scales for money. The girl was shoeless in the winter cold and had scars on her feet. Angelina took off her shoes, gave them to the other girl, and then got on the scales... repeatedly. Angelina has vowed to never perform with shoes on until every child has a pair of shoes to wear. Angelina's prize money for winning Norway's Got Talent went to a children's charity at her request. Proceeds from her book also go to children's charities. As I recall, she helped raise 2M euros in Berlin for a children's charity. Now, I know that everybody has their human limitations and faults; nobody's perfect. That being said, I have great admiration for her and the entire Astar family. Talent is one thing, beauty another, but being a gentle human being with compassion is a rare commodity. From an old submarine sailor to a lovely singer, Bravo Zulu!
i have made a german Translation so if someone want it tell me and i can send this pages to your mailadress - she called the girl princess because she never got her real name - heartbreaking Story on 24 pages
Hi Squirrel .. that was a treat .. truely a Masterpiece by a 9 yo for the Histoy Book of Music .. another Masterpiece IMHO is Angelina Jordan at age 10 singing "I will survive" (2016) .. ua-cam.com/video/ma7sa_n7k-8/v-deo.html .. it's from her Grandmas Channel "Angelina Jordan Fanclub Mosarz" ua-cam.com/channels/hM_lpT4shdnsez93QMJPig.htmlvideos .. there you can find much more and also many behind the scenes Videos Grandma Mery did .. keep on your good work ..
This is what Angelina does so well. The connection here is with the original version by Screamin Jay Hawkins. The vibe is not from the more recent Nina Simone cover, but her tribute is to the far, far out original by Hawkins. It shows Angelina’s reverence for the great jazz and blues singers like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, and Hawkins. She has learned from the greats (even before 10 years old), and she pays tribute to them but we get Angelina’s own arrangements that are unmistakably her and hers alone. As a new Angel, you can look forward to dozens and dozens of spectacular Angelina songs. To see how much vocal territory Angelina can cover flawlessly, I think you’d like her version of the Etta James classic, I’d Rather Go Blind. If you haven’t heard that in a while, watch Etta’s amazing original-and then watch Angelina, at 13, make your jaw drop.
She was largely inspired by Screaming Jay Hawkins, the guy on the candle, but made it a bit more musical like Nina Simone. The band was absolutely awesome. She was involved in the arrangement and the sheet she gave were some of her last minute wishes. Her career goes back even further. She entered Norway got Talent at the age of 7 and blew people out of their socks singing Gloomy Sunday from Billie Holiday. She has had many other highs: Quincy Jones asked her to perform Fly me to the Moon for his 85th birthday in his arrangement for Frank Sinatra. He said she was the biggest talent since Michael Jackson. She blew away Simon Cowell, the rest of jury and the audience with her arrangement and performance of Bohemian Rhapsody. Queen tweeted about it and gave her her own license to release her version. Just scratching the surface here: pick a song, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. The only thing to expect is to be surprised at every turn :-)
The song has an emotionals tory of intese obsession, a story that Angelina emotionally conveys. Hawkins' version is more gimmicky--more like shock rock.
I love this performance so much. As they say AJ don't play. Well perhaps this is what she does when she does play and we get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Any one discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point. Think of the children who will be inspired by this one performance in the decades to come. This is an Iconic performance and will alway be Iconic. Angelina has on her own from early on at 6 or 7 yrs old reintroduced what I believe will be a whole new Jazz Era and redefined by this young phenom and prodigy. That is astounding! And she is just 16 years old... That is unfathomable!... Oh Lord... what is coming the world is not prepared for but we as fans have been on the edge of our seats and will remain there as we wait. No hurry. We want Angelina to do it her way when she is ready. She has already established her proficiency and incredible work ethic in this endeavor guided by an incredible family and professional support now surrounding her. We know Angelina will continue to amaze! We will be here to experience and cherish it for as long as we live.... and I am praying for many more years for myself to enjoy it till the end of my days... Not to be morbid but when I'm lying in my deathbed I hope to go out of this world listening to the most beautiful voice ever created for man just as Angelina came into it to fulfill her purpose, what she was put on earth to do, sing for the whole World... and Me! To me Angelina is always singing to me transporting me to that beautiful place she inhabits when she sings and to experience it with her. She has the ability to touch hearts and souls and change lives. She has the ability to change lives on a personal level and the power to change lives on a global scale. To me no one compares. You just watched a Masterpiece! Destined to go down in Music History as the best performance by a 9 yr old, Period! Past, present & dare I say Future! I'd like to see anyone, young or old who can do a cover of this & with the justice it deserves as Angelina has done on every cover she does. ♥👣👸🏻
So well said all of it. Thank You and I appreciate the support from all of you as we do this. You folks are driving me down the road on a magical journey.
Love your facial reactions! Angelina is a phenom and a prodigy. I do not react to Angelina because I have to listen to her every day. I enjoy watching other people be amazed when they listen to her awesome performances. And your reaction was great. She is starting to get mainstream attention. Proof of that is the emergence of online trolls who trash her. I don't understand it because Angelina is all about love. Anyhow, keep up the good work.
Kudos for watching Nina's version. Do, however, watch Screamin' Jay Hawkins' version to really be able grasp where she is coming from (at least for this piece). The arrangement here is a genius take on the original and adding the musical sensibilities of a 9 year old prodigy. Then there is the vocal and acting performances here that are truly spectacular. thanks for the review, much appreciated
Angelina has often called her beloved grandma Mery her mentor.Mery was a child prodigy in painting and poetry.I think she nurtured the artistic side of Angelina prompting her to uncover her talent and to be fearless in presenting her vision for her art.She exposed her to endless jazz classics, recorded a virtual legacy of Angelina's musical development and was always in the studio with her.She even helps design and sew up her performance outfits.
This young girl hit the studio at age 6 with I who have nothing and a couple other songs. At age 7/8 she was on Norways got talent and won. Definitely worth checking out. She did a few other songs prior to this also at age 8 and the king of norways made her a national treasure. You won't find a song that she doesn't either sing as good as the original artist and many are better because of the emotions she attaches to the song. Good luck on the rabbit hole journey, I've been on it since 2014
She started with her education when she was 4y old with an after school program for singing, playing instruments and music studying. With her great Talents it wasn't a surprise to win the NGT competition when she was 8y. Here she is 9y and knows how to arrange a difficult song from a crazy Artist like SJH .she shows him at the candle at the beginning 💝 Now at 16y she sings from the top of the world 😁 look her latest new Song..mount Everest 💯😎💕
@@Bestmusicreactions There are many fan-made versions of Mt. Everest with varying audio/video quality. Here is a link for the best one, IMO. ua-cam.com/video/DYVxnY06BWw/v-deo.html She plays her head voice like the guitar & it is amazing!!!
Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the arrangement based after listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight on how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with the same band at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and gives them some instructions. There are English subtitles as the spoken language is Norwegian: ua-cam.com/video/SAkZDAXJA4E/v-deo.html
It's not Nina Simone you should've listen to. Angelina was channeling Sreamin' Jay Hawkins (Original composer) and that's who's on the candle AJ is holding and honoring - totally two different interpretations... Still great reaction !
Angelina doesn't just understand the music, she completely embodies each song she sings. She understands the feelings and emotions of the song and is able to convey those emotions to the listener. It's magic and she stands alone. Squirrel, I suggest providing links to the original song and the artists UA-cam channel in your description and encouraging viewers to use those links to support the artist. Angelina has two UA-cam channels, Official and Cover. Angelina Jordan Official: ua-cam.com/channels/1Pw.html... Angelina Jordan CoverChannel: ua-cam.com/channels/v-Q.html.

Or, if you want a complete playlist, Rusty Shackelford has a complete playlist on his youtube channel.
Even after hearing other AJ songs, you are still amazed when you hear her. I think it must always be thay way when witnessing genius and a true musical prodigy.
The best comparison would have been with Screaming Jay Hawkins original, but Simone's version is better known. Compared with Screaming Jay's version you can see where Angelina is coming from. A complete reinvention whilst respecting the original, no less. Thank you for this reaction. I've subscribed and hope to hear more from the Barefoot Princess in this channel.
You would have been better off listening to the original studio version by Screaming Jay Hawkins than the Nina Simone version, the Screaming Jay version give you a better understanding of Angelina's cover,as she took the Screaming Jay blues version and did it with more of a jazz arrangement and threw in some other things in there. For me personally,Angelina Jordan's version,I like the best. Either way that's was a unbelievable performance coming from a 9 year old girl.
If you get the chance, watch Screamin Jay Hawkins sing this creation of his. One of Jay's later performances of this 1959 classic is one he did on the Arsenio Hall Show in 1969, which is also located on UA-cam. Angelina's performance is considered as a masterpiece cover of Jay's original work.
Hi Christian, I think you may have mistyped either the date or the host. The Arsenio Hall Show ran from 1989 till 1994. Then a second short run from 2013 to 2014. Arsenio would have only been about 13 in 1969.
Wonderful job Squirrel, watched a couple of your Angelina reactions so far and have enjoyed them a lot....New Sub here. Angelina has studied and adapted many of the great Jazz/blues artists of the past since she was 3 or so. Her Grandma Mery Zamani and Iranian artist/poet and child prodigy herself, exposed Angelina to the greats, there are video's of her shopping in record stores as a child and picking out great jazz artist records, Billy Holiday, Etta James, Dinah Washington, Sinatra...etc... This one here is Angelina's arrangement/interpretation of Screamin Jay Hawkins original from 1956, which you may want to watch: ua-cam.com/video/7kGPhpvqtOc/v-deo.html. You will hear this many times but Angelina is a music genius which you will see if you react to all of her 4 performances on Norway Got Talent 7-8 years old.: ua-cam.com/video/O2bX15tYFVk/v-deo.html. Cheers, look forward to more Angelina with you.
Great reaction! Suspicious Minds would be a good choice for next, but it doesn’t really matter now. At some point I would suggest watching the songs on Norways Got Talent at 7/8. I’ve never seen anyone react to an interview on a Norwegian Television show when she was about 8 or 9, but the reporter asks about the book she had just published telling the story of why VJ she performs without shoes. The only thing is, you have to read the English text unless you’re fluent in Norwegian. It’s touching. ua-cam.com/video/-cCLDY0CSZ8/v-deo.html
This may be a little bit of overkill because you've seen some of her videos already, but this may give you a better understanding of where shes' come from and where shes' going. Below is a list of my recommendations for doing reactions to Angelina Jordan. 1. For the initial shock you should start with ‘I Put A Spell On You’ She was 9 years old when she did this. The link for this song is - ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html 2. The next song you should react to is ‘My Funny Valentine’ from 2022. This will give you an understanding of where she is now. This link for this song is ua-cam.com/video/bWiLOnHJYxg/v-deo.html 3. To follow her growth react to the following songs in order: At age 6 - ‘I Who Have Nothing’ her first time in a studio - ua-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/v-deo.html At age 7 - 8; Norway's Got Talent - ua-cam.com/video/d3gSho9yf88/v-deo.html At age 8 ‘What A Difference A Day Makes’ -ua-cam.com/video/ZSfgCIGd7k4/v-deo.html At age 10 ‘Feeling Good’ - ua-cam.com/video/p8kAL-sGJx8/v-deo.html At age 11 ‘I’m A Fool To Want You’ - ua-cam.com/video/SGx0djXTXQk/v-deo.html She also did this during Norway’s Got Talent, but she did it A Capella. At age 12 There are two songs of note here: ‘Shield’ which is one of here originals - ua-cam.com/video/lQtUbVKb0vs/v-deo.html She was invited to perform at Quincy Jones’ 85th birthday in London she sang what is sort of her anthem (she has sung throughout the years many times). This is the rehearsal for the show but it is excellent, it is number two on my playlist. - ua-cam.com/video/OMkwoqUNNkE/v-deo.html At Age 13 she performed two songs on America’s Got Talent - and one other song of note - ‘I Have Nothing’ is a tribute to Whitney Houston - ua-cam.com/video/eTcvvO6B3Io/v-deo.html On AGT ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ for which she got the Golden Buzzer - ua-cam.com/video/qF0JV28vgLw/v-deo.html On AGT ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ in the finals - ua-cam.com/video/4XOMskgN8w4/v-deo.html - but she didn’t win. A lot of people are upset about that, but I think it’s the best thing that happened for her. At Age 16 she has two new covers. The newest and the best is an Elvis cover ‘Suspicious Minds’ - ua-cam.com/video/RTbKhkceR00/v-deo.html The other is ‘My Funny Valentine - ua-cam.com/video/bWiLOnHJYxg/v-deo.html?list=PLkTtcQqiwrwtM3ZJawb33E2afxrVceYvd She has done several Adel covers and one other song of note - ‘Million Miles’ - ua-cam.com/video/3KxvwuZ7oEM/v-deo.html - this is an original that she wrote in honor of her grandfather after he passed away. It is also the first song released under her contract with Republic Records. Rusty Shackelford has a UA-cam playlist that includes all of her videos, including TikTok and Instagram. I have a playlist of currently 106 of her videos that has received over 67,000 views (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.)
ua-cam.com/video/SGx0djXTXQk/v-deo.html This is one of my favorites of hers.....I'm a fool to want you from Billy Holiday.......Oh and there are soooooo many more......also my fav.s
Well this is a bid of sad news. the squrrel look alike Bernard Cribbins passed away to day, BBC News | BREAKING NEWS | Bernard Cribbins death announcement and obituary
@@Bestmusicreactions I think i was one of them . still its a shame he passed but he had a good long life and carreer performing on and with legendary characters actors and shows. Now let all hope you will have just as great a carreer and happy healthy life.
Let me tell you an interesting fact. Have you heard of K-pop? K-Pop refers to Korean popular music, and is gaining popularity around the world, mainly among young people. It's trendy and intense, so if it fits your taste easily, you'll fall in love. You can easily listen to their music by searching for K-pop on UA-cam. But I would recommend a few groups for beginners. BTS- Best Male group With the best dance, songwriting, composing, rapping and singing skills of the BTS-male group, he sold out Wembley's solo performance in just a few minutes. BLACKPINK - The girl group's best beauty and dance, singing, rap, and fashion sense make viewers admire. He is also active as a global ambassador for Celine and Chanel. Sohyang - Insane Vocal Crazy vocals like Whitney Houston and Celine Dion are fantastic. When it comes to singing, she is a talented woman who can do almost anything. If you like it, there are many other groups and solos, so we recommend that you find it and enjoy it.
Appreciate the detailed recommendation. I will for sure check out some K-pop. Heard of it a while back but never experienced it. Looks like a new music adventure soon
The Greatest Performance Ever by The Greatest of all Time.
9 years 2 months and does her own arrangements.
It's like she becomes the song, if that makes sense.
She is the Greatest Story Teller ever,
She deserves the musicians performing with her.
Your expressions throughout the video spoke volumes!
thank you for your review and comments .
Yes, your exhale said it all? No words 😱🙏🙏🙏🙏
Pretty impressive for a 9-year-old…
Thats perfect from angelina as always when she is singing, the best voice ever and now with 16years, i can say only amazing, divine 👑♥️🌹🌟
I can see you are getting it, Squirrel. Yes you are. Love it.
Oh my goodness this girl 🌹 when someone makes you emotional while singing a song 🎶 you know it’s great 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🐿♥️
She ain't lyin Squirrel, another spell cast =)

Why does Angelina sing barefoot?

Exceptional masterpiece! I viewed it countless times and I am still amazed and thrilled.
This is absolutely a milestone in Angelina's young career. It not only highlights her insane vocal capabilities at SUCH a young age but also of her " knowledge of her craft" as you said. Have your seat belt on for her Suspicious Minds cover, another Masterpiece!
Unbelievable what a voice a superstar
She performed Screaming Jay Hawkins version, an older version. He was on the candle holder. 😎🇺🇲👍💯🌟
Still loving the hair.
Don't stop please.....I am subscribed
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
A old soul, in a young person. One of my favourites by Angelina.
Angelina Jordan is paying Homage to Screaming Jay Hawkins from 1956
Perfection oh and to think that this 9 year old put and directed this composition on her own.
Always love watching a reactor’s first time watching this performance. Your face… 😳
Loved your reaction and look forward to your continuing journey. Thanks.
Thank You Dirk
Noone is really ready for their first time listening to this. It makes little difference how many comments they read about this beforehand. It always starts with "how cute", quickly turning to amazement and disbelief. It is greatness in action.
She did this as a tribute to the original artist, "Screamin' Jay Hawkins" who is on the candle she is holding at the beginning. ua-cam.com/video/7kGPhpvqtOc/v-deo.html
By the way, this is "her" arrangement. You see her writing on a piece of paper and the producer reading it and smiling. He said in a later interview that she made some last minute changes and referred to them as "her wishes". The band affectionately referred to her as "The Boss" because they said she knew exactly what she wanted and how she wanted it done.
De acuerdo,, pero a mi me parece que Angelina adapto esta versión:

She didn't learn the song she arranged it from the original of " Scream'n J Hawkins ". He is on the candle she hold in her hand .
The Squirrel has now been baptized in the Church of Angelina Jordan!
💖💖
WOW! This is just plain crazy! WOW!
Screamin Jay Hawkins - I plut a spell on you - ua-cam.com/video/7kGPhpvqtOc/v-deo.html
Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old when she performed this song.
Things I found particularly worthy of note in this video are
(a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled.
(e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine"
(f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand
(g) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better.
Actually a Screamin Jay Hawkins song ❤️ That is the man on the candle 👍 Check out his original... the arrangement she did here is awesome and the performance is mindblowing given she is 9years and 2 months old here 😳❤️ The grit, and soulful performance was amazing ❤️ Have a nice day 👍
To all Angelina fans,
You may have heard of the UA-cam algorithm but are not aware of its importance.

I know. 🤯🤯🤯🤯
"I can do this...just let me take off my shoes"
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I'll give you the link here as well : ua-cam.com/video/7kGPhpvqtOc/v-deo.html
I have watched all of your 3 reactions to Angelina so far, and I subscribed after the first one.

Your words are truly profound and heartfelt......
👍👍💙💙💙
Love your facial reactions! Angelina is a phenom and a prodigy. I do not react to Angelina because I have to listen to her every day. I enjoy watching other people be amazed when they listen to her awesome performances. And your reaction was great. She is starting to get mainstream attention. Proof of that is the emergence of online trolls who trash her. I don't understand it because Angelina is all about love. Anyhow, keep up the good work.
Jealous people seem to delight in trawling the internet to find a target, the more loved, the better. They lead very sad lives.
Here she is 9y and knows how to arrange a difficult song from a crazy Artist like SJH .she shows him at the candle at the beginning 💝
Now at 16y she sings from the top of the world 😁 look her latest new Song..mount Everest 💯😎💕
I’ll look for that Thank You
@@Bestmusicreactions There are many fan-made versions of Mt. Everest with varying audio/video quality. Here is a link for the best one, IMO. ua-cam.com/video/DYVxnY06BWw/v-deo.html She plays her head voice like the guitar & it is amazing!!!
As a comparison you should definitely check out the original by Screaming J. Hawkins, not Nina Simone. It's pretty funny.
Saved that to enjoy at a later time Thank You
It's not Nina Simone you should've listen to. Angelina was channeling Sreamin' Jay Hawkins (Original composer) and that's who's on the candle AJ is holding and honoring - totally two different interpretations... Still great reaction !
This version is second only to CCR amazing recreation of Screaming J Hawkins song
Very interesting and very New Orleans like. Period.
New Orleans via Norway 😎🐿️
Agreed. Angelina’s most notable reactors recognize the importance of routing everyone to her original content and social media channels.
Enjoyed your reaction so much I'm watching it a second time on my laptop so I can give you two likes! Watched it on my phone at lunchbreak today. Lets just say, your facial expressions said it all! So many amazing performances for you to discover. A few must see's are one of her first recording sessions at about age 7
"I Who Have Nothing" ua-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/v-deo.html
"Feeling Good" at age 10 ua-cam.com/video/p8kAL-sGJx8/v-deo.html
Of course check out the 4 performances at Norway's got talent age 7/8
And many many more!
Or, if you want a complete playlist, Rusty Shackelford has a complete playlist on his youtube channel.
You could have been warned by the title. Too late, spell is cast now...🧙♀
You should have listened to the original by screaming J Hawkins..... She most exemplifies the original Essence of the song but done her way.
Nina Simone is not the original singer of this song, the song was originally by Screamin Jay hawkins !!! 👑 🗣🎙🎷
Carl Thank You and I appreciate you. Glad to have you in the journey, welcome to the squad
My pleasure my friend. We are millions and millions strong and always enjoy great Angelina reactions...keep them coming
Should have listened to Jay Hawkins
This may be a little bit of overkill because you've seen some of her videos already, but this may give you a better understanding of where shes' come from and where shes' going.
Below is a list of my recommendations for doing reactions to Angelina Jordan.
1. For the initial shock you should start with ‘I Put A Spell On You’ She was 9 years old when she did this. The link for this song is - ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html
2. The next song you should react to is ‘My Funny Valentine’ from 2022. This will give you an understanding of where she is now. This link for this song is ua-cam.com/video/bWiLOnHJYxg/v-deo.html
3. To follow her growth react to the following songs in order:
At age 6 - ‘I Who Have Nothing’ her first time in a studio - ua-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/v-deo.html
At age 7 - 8; Norway's Got Talent - ua-cam.com/video/d3gSho9yf88/v-deo.html
At age 8 ‘What A Difference A Day Makes’ -ua-cam.com/video/ZSfgCIGd7k4/v-deo.html
At age 10 ‘Feeling Good’ - ua-cam.com/video/p8kAL-sGJx8/v-deo.html
At age 11 ‘I’m A Fool To Want You’ - ua-cam.com/video/SGx0djXTXQk/v-deo.html She also did this during Norway’s Got Talent, but she did it A Capella.
At age 12 There are two songs of note here:
‘Shield’ which is one of here originals - ua-cam.com/video/lQtUbVKb0vs/v-deo.html
She was invited to perform at Quincy Jones’ 85th birthday in London she sang what is sort of her anthem (she has sung throughout the years many times). This is the rehearsal for the show but it is excellent, it is number two on my playlist. - ua-cam.com/video/OMkwoqUNNkE/v-deo.html
At Age 13 she performed two songs on America’s Got Talent - and one other song of note -
‘I Have Nothing’ is a tribute to Whitney Houston - ua-cam.com/video/eTcvvO6B3Io/v-deo.html
On AGT ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ for which she got the Golden Buzzer - ua-cam.com/video/qF0JV28vgLw/v-deo.html
On AGT ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ in the finals - ua-cam.com/video/4XOMskgN8w4/v-deo.html - but she didn’t win. A lot of people are upset about that, but I think it’s the best thing that happened for her.
At Age 16 she has two new covers.
The newest and the best is an Elvis cover ‘Suspicious Minds’ - ua-cam.com/video/RTbKhkceR00/v-deo.html
The other is ‘My Funny Valentine - ua-cam.com/video/bWiLOnHJYxg/v-deo.html?list=PLkTtcQqiwrwtM3ZJawb33E2afxrVceYvd
She has done several Adel covers and one other song of note - ‘Million Miles’ - ua-cam.com/video/3KxvwuZ7oEM/v-deo.html - this is an original that she wrote in honor of her grandfather after he passed away.
Where is the link to Angelina Jordan’s original video?
Do you know how to recognize a reactor who actually knows something about music? They appear in shock after watching their first few Angelina videos.
9 years old... how???
This later performance from Jay has even more of the elements she used than his original: m.ua-cam.com/video/orNpH6iyokI/v-deo.html

Thanks for sharing.
Beware fake copyright claims on her work.
ua-cam.com/video/SGx0djXTXQk/v-deo.html This is one of my favorites of hers.....I'm a fool to want you from Billy Holiday.......Oh and there are soooooo many more......also my fav.s
She's a down south original.

Yes I posted about it on my main channel. Folks have been telling me for two years I look like him 😁
@@Bestmusicreactions I think i was one of them . still its a shame he passed but he had a good long life and carreer performing on and with legendary characters actors and shows.
BTS- Best Male group
With the best dance, songwriting, composing, rapping and singing skills of the BTS-male group, he sold out Wembley's solo performance in just a few minutes.
BLACKPINK - The girl group's
best beauty and dance, singing, rap, and fashion sense make viewers admire. He is also active as a global ambassador for Celine and Chanel.
Sohyang - Insane Vocal
Crazy vocals like Whitney Houston and Celine Dion are fantastic.
Ok.I will wait
No - sorry! I know what it is now. I don't like little kids singing very grown up songs. It just feels wrong.
I can understand that.
