15:03 I love how after your grinning and laughing from excitement you suddenly turn all serious and go "but seriously don't do this, this is dangerous" 😂
I can’t believe after finally seeing them you then got within touching distance of one. I’ve had similar when spending a long time looking for a rare bird, hours wandering around forests with my binoculars. And then once I’ve seen one it’s like ‘unlocked’ it or broken the spell and suddenly I see them all the time now
Wow!! Excellently done.. Beautiful animals, just like their cave portraits!.. It wasn't your very own pet wild Boar at the end was it?!?.. So tranquil, and voted least likely to gouge Henry the eighth right up his gouty leg.., back in time for hoopoes in black swan for tea!..
Well done cookie, you're an absolute legend!! every single one of your videos is a pleasure to watch :D Can't wait to find out what you'll be looking for next!
Just found this great channel.. I like the legends of how 2 groups of Boar escaped back into Britain.. Farmed boar broke out of their enclosure when the great October 87 storm blew down trees that flattened the fence, Another escape happened when several escaped from the ramp into the truck literally taking them to the abattoir!!.. I for one welcome back wild boar to Britain after 300 years? They have to count as native and I'm sure they would appreciate our help ensuring they have a good load of genetic diversity so they stay strong. That means many more smart introductions with official backing from a new government rewilding department.... Yeah right..! I have heard of one potential consequence.. The UK is the stronghold of the bluebell BECAUSE of the absence of wild boar.. It may not be true My solution would be bring back the missing 3 predators big enough to eat them, or at least keep them moving on.. The Brown Bear, Lynx and Wolves!!.. We'd also need those monster shepherding dogs to protect our wimpy livestock! And the bears would need good surveillance and an educated public, with work they won't turn man eaters and they will stick to native prey like our overpopulation of red deer.. and wild boar, Wisent, rebred Aurochs, the 3 native horses? Don't we have 16 large mammals missing purely down to hunting, (farmers that hunted were far more of an extinction threat than gatherer hunters) I'd love to think we are now an older and wiser species with advanced technology to help us in a second chance to coexist. It must sound phantasmagorical to most peoples ears.. It may take a paradigm shift and a few long years, (I don't want to count in the D word) The first little step is to write a long comment, then speak it out loud.. The idea and implementation of Rewilding IS slowly but surely becoming part of the 21st century Zeitgeist... Each of our visualisations or actuations can be seen as us casting positive little spells on humans journey into the rewilded future ... The very idea will provoke brickbats and even a war footing for many, but thoughts and opposition is better out than in... Suppression of dissent never ends well!! . Such a big change of approach needs honesty like a blood supply and freedom of speech like oxygen, Healthy society is measured by the vigour of people's Arguments, debates discussions, poems,, novels, plays, films, songs, pod what's?, non violent direct action is always with us. Violence and terror are the last resort of the incompetent. From people giving up channeling Spock and Uhurus polite charm intelligence reason, science and logic as well as the impassioned now or never urgency and doom of Scotty, the high regard for human frailty, the earnest searching to improve all our lives, imperfections and all, the cold hands, warm heart of DR sentimental Mc Coy , Capt Kirk flirting with a cow rebred German Auroch.. Me, I'd be one of those red shirts making up the numbers whenever a landing party is needed and the first to succumb to a toxic alien blob.. Rewilding peacemakers in lieu of foot soldiers... An new era has begun!!!!

I cannot wait for this, being from Great Grimsby there are thee Boars on our towns shield. They were were once here in great number, British royals and nobles often visited Bradley Woods to hunt them. As for them being here now all I can say is that there are some in the area but the location cannot be given as they are in a protected area.

That's class, I'm jealous you live in the FoD! I've known about the Pine Martens yeah! I tried to get help from the relevant parties about trying to film them and they didn't want me anywhere near it haha
Hey mate, I saw you mentioned about the black swans down where I am (Dawlish in Devon) we have many there about 20-25 it’s known as the town of the black swan!
Yes there are wild boar and yes, someone got permission to import and release them in the UK. They're over 1k in population and I guarantee you, it'll explode. I used to hunt them with dogs in the US. My dogs now are older and i have a job so they get to stay home while I go to work. They're not necessarily nocturnal...only in areas of heavy hunting or human traffic otherwise, you'll see them out in the day time. That boar is tame and it's obvious they're not being hunted. If they ever were being hunted, you wouldn't see them necessarily unless they were out looking for food.
I've been thinking about the population boom that will come with these boars. So we will need either dedicated hunters to control them or we will need to introduce a predatory animal to deal with them.
