I once rode in a 1st-gen Camry Hybrid as an Uber, and the cut-over between gas and electric was so harsh I thought it had engine problems. Glad they appear to have it sorted out.
This is the Camry/mid size to buy. People are just drawn to the Rav 4 but this Camry hybrid is actually fun to drive. You feel like you can just mash it and drive it hard and it will just run and run and run.
I have the 2020 Camry Hybrid LE because the base model has the better lithium battery. It gets great mileage and doesn't have any belts to change out cause it's basically a generator. It's very high tech and efficient according to The Car Care Nut. People are surprised when they drive behind me and I go to Sport Mode to haul ass. But honestly, I will keep this car for a long time until electric battery or hydrogen cars start to be mainstream. Right now Tesla still has too many quality issues. Every Tesla fanboy is going to defend Tesla but Rich Rebuilds recently showed a guy that was going to rack up a $16K repair bill. Tesla is basically the Apple of cars so they want you to pay crazy insane prices for repairs at a Tesla Authorized repair center. But everyone turns a blind eye and don't see that part. All they see is "shiny I want now!" A great car to keep driving until the world shifts to the next energy source.

Sometimes I get lucky and pull 43 MPG or more in 20F-35F weather but it's usually averaging about 38 MPG in that weather range. Usually when it's about 40F and up I can get 46-53+ MPG much easier. You can get better average MPG in cold weather if you're driving very long distances. For distances in cold weather with a mix of highway and city roads you may not do as well. But for short distances on city roads i.e. go to the store and back you maybe able to get in the 40-50 range if driving at the speed limit on ECO. I did a 680 mile round trip in January of 2022 going from 20F to 0F weather in another state and averaged 53 MPG going 70 MPH. I was quite surprised I was even able to get that MPG rating at that extreme of a temperature. I guess it helps because I'm not stopping and going in cold weather. Typically hybrids work much better in climates that are neither too cold nor too hot. But there isn't much you can do about physics and weather.
Hardly any cars come with a CD player in the entertainment system any more. Fortunately, most of the CD's I've bought over the past decade or so also come with an automatic download, so I had a good inventory of music on my phone. Just connect via either bluetooth or Android Auto (or Apple Carplay if you're an iPhone person) and you're good to go. I picked up a 2021 Camry Hybrid at the end of 2020, just before the big chip/car shortage hit the fan, and I love it! Especially the way gas prices have been going in California, I definitely made the right choice there.
@@tails300 great decision. I just bought one Camry hybrid today. I was also thinking about Corolla at first, but the inner space inside of Corolla feels small. Also the hp of a Camry is higher than Corolla which makes it easier to merge into highways. I like them both.
The fact that you had to leave AC on full blast the whole time makes me feel worried. It should’ve cooled the cabin down by now. Not sure if the AC on the hybrid is less effective than the one in non-hybrid

Yeah but I read for the new Sonata hybrid the switch over when the gas engine turns on is very noticeable, not in a good way. The new Sonata hybrid is a good car and has some advantages over the Camry hybrid like better more updated audio interface and better ACC/LKA. But Toyota has the hybrid power train nailed down pat.
Korean cars are considered low-end cars.. I don't know anyone that would drive one of those.. They were once described as disposable cars. They usually start ending up in the junkyard around 6 years old I Toyota Camry will go 30 years plus..

The Camry will outlast the Accord 2:1. The new TNGA Camry is light years ahead of anything from Honda. At least you don’t have the infamous 1.5t and CVT. Honda Hybrids always have issues and poor mpg. No one is buying the Accord. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets dropped.

I owned both cars too and I say the Camry is better. I have the top trim XLE with heads up display and sonar.. Honda's are not up to par with their hybrid cars they are definitely second best to Toyota.. Honda's quality has slipped in the past few years that's why I decided to go away from them.. They also do not have that good of a transmission.

I went from a 2011 Corolla to a 2021 Camry Hybrid XLE. The Corolla was good, the Camry is exceptional. I can get 55mpg on the highway.

Ours is an le ‘21 without rear vents. The kids In back seat have asked me to turn up air as they get too cold and it’s been 90 degrees lately.

500-600 mi. range on any car is very good. Too big and you get diminished returns on keeping too many fuel that adds weight and reduce mpg.
