Frozen ride is going to be a sad replacement. I remember being excited when this opened as a kid, a ride in world showcase other than rio del tempo. All your videos are great, have no idea where you get some of your photos and insight but they are spot on. Went to WDW first time in 1978 and almost every year till 2000. Heading back in less then a month with my wife.. Her first time !
What's the atmosphere like these days at Disney World compared to the 80s and 90s? We went about 9 times between 1988 and 2002. I want to go back soon, but I'm a bit apprehensive about the changes that have probably taken place since then.
Anyone on this thread who is glad that Maelstrom is being replaced by Frozen is probably too young to understand the significance and impact that attraction had on the World Showcase. You're probably too young to appreciate history and what Walt Disney envisioned for EPCOT. Replacing Maelstrom with a Frozen ride is sort of the equivalent of tearing down the Eiffel Tower and replacing it with a Starbucks.
Disney is focusing too much on making money by putting in rides for kids (Nemo, Frozen, etc) Epcot used to be an adult park, now they are changing Universe of Energy and France just to put in kiddy rides. Its a shame, the kids have Magic Kingdom, Hollywood etc, stop ruining Epcot. I think the managers think if they aren't changing something then people will think they are not doing their job or something.
Artwork I've seen for the Frozen ride looks impressive, and I've heard good things about the movie. However, I think it was a mistake to close Maelstrom. On my last trip to Epcot, it was my favorite attraction there. Walt Disney used to talk about change, but he also mentioned keeping things that worked. For what Disney charges for admission and given Walt Disney World's size, they should be able to afford to build new attractions without taking out ones that people like.

Any chance of the video being updated with the confirmation of the ride's demise?
That isn't the King of Norway making the dedication at 5 mins 50 secs is it? It looks a bit like him.
Please They Need To Bring Norway To Tokyo DisneySea

when did they remove that beautiful painting of Leif Ericsson that was in the queue area?
Great vid as always... the music however didn't really convey the Scandinavian feel!!
I don't think I can hear the clear audio on the Maelstrom ride.
it's how maelstorm becomes frozen ever after!
Maelstrom and the spirt of Norway closed in October 5th 2014. and its now gonna be a frozen ride. and they named it ''Frozen Ever After.''
