Congratulations Fr. Peter on thirty years of faithful service! Parish ministry is a vocation like none other. Long days short years. - Advent is now half-spent! Blessings all

I just love these discussions. Thank you for sharing your learning so generously. I love the idea of exploring the Gospel text in the week leading up to the sermon. It really helps prepare hearts and minds! 😊

Margaret, we’re glad you’re getting so much out of the podcast. That’s the goal we strive for. Our hope is that each episode helps make Sunday’s message that much richer.

Thank you all, again! John the Baptist perhaps had "priest's kid syndrome" in that he went out of the conventional arena in which his priestly parent had worked, yet extended the Gospel. Looking just at the Luke passages re John, it seems Jesus and John started out at opposite ends - the former very much in the heirarchy, the latter, completely in the wilderness, and they sort of met in the middle?!? Blessings and thanksgivings.

I'd love to hear a conversation between John the Baptist and the Rev. William Barber.

Fire is also a symbol of God destroying evil and injustice. Not destroying people but evil itself. Thus, Satan and the demonic are thrown into the lake of fire in Revelation. People are not thrown in, evil is. It's destruction enables justice and goodness to reign forever and ever. It's just another way of thinking about it.
