Silver kept that fine line with simplicity, game length, and different abilities. And I like adventure games. So it was time well spent.

Yep :) A good adventure game is just that, but without a game. So, a good adventure. :)

I remember playing Close Combat II as a kid, I barely had any idea what I was doing, but I was fascinated by it all the same.

Oh, all these tiny soldiers running around, shouting, shooting and just fighting for their few pixels in size lives was captivating, no doubt about that!

As far as I know, DICE bought the developer of this game and the engine of the first battlefield is based on this engine or at least took a lot of inspiration from it.

Ahh Starfleet Command I... I grew up playing Starfleet Battles, and some of the other games it led to, with dad and his buddies so I was ecstatic when I found out a computer game was coming. I can't remember if my first campagin was as a Lyran captain because if memory serves a Lyran Frigate was the ship I used in my first game or a Hydran captain because the Hydrans are my favorite faction from the tabletop game, and I was commanding a Hydran Hunter in the first game I won.
Mechwarrior III my least favorite Mechwarrior game storywise but thanks to the customization restrictions in later games and how badly they handled the Mech inventory in MechWarrior IV its my favorite to play.

Silver is a super fun game, but I was never able to finish it by beating the last boss. My main problem with the game is it is 100% linear, where you can't really play the game differently each time. All the XP and equipment you get is exact to the point where you will always be a specific stats level at a specific point in the game. So each fight is purely up to skill and the final boss is very hard.

Oooh, pinball! *.* And Slamtilt is really good too. I'm not very keen on the 3D pinball look, but I'll have to give it a try. Night of the Demon is my favourite table from the original and the music is so good. :) Please tell me they kept the music.
And also oooh, Star Trek! :D I sure hope there's a way to play Picard style, whose strongest weapon was diplomacy. ;)
I think Tarzan must have taken the study of "how to defend yourself against fresh fruit". And is applying the opposite to his enemies.
Darkstone is giving me huge déjà vu of Diablo. Like they reused almost everything, the engine, the sounds and graphics and added more stuff on top. You know, a couple of years ago after finishing Diablo I really wanted a similar game, but never found it. Thank you! :)

Hey you! You're one of the two people who love pinballs, that I've mentioned. :) And you not liking 3D pinball pains me, cause Pinball FX/Zen is the best pinball ever. Period. And its built-in free table (well, there are few actually) is super good. One of my faves of all time. :)
And no, you can't really play Starfleet Command Picard Style. :/
If I could recommend THE BEST free Diablo clone, go for Path of Exile. It's huge and it's fantastic. No other game with as much content. But if you're after something more LIKE Diablo, then perhaps Torchlight 2 would be a more suiting choice. And it costs peanuts most of the time, and close to nothing on various promos. I've been playing Diablo IV on weekends last couple of months, and it's pretty fun too, though when you reach the end, it's well, a bit grindy and everything takes a while. Oh, and to get a unique crafted piece of gear it makes you level more than one character which I am not a fan of. I've no time to play one, let alone many, and to endgame no less. So, uhm, yeah...

@@OldAndNewVideoGames I know I'm one of the pinball fans. :D And I didn't say I don't like 3D pinball, just that I'm not that much into the visual style, because they often try to recreate that dark arcade atmosphere and I'd like a bit more light on the table. :D I've actually played Pinball Arcade on my phone a lot and it has some good recreations of real tables. Including Star Trek. ;)
Well, I will at least do the Picard maneuver while playing the Starfleet game. XD
As for the Diablo clones, thank you, you've already suggested those and I might get to them too. But I meant that I wanted more Diablo. So, like playing the same game, but with a new story and stuff, but basically the same game. I really got into the atmosphere in that game and the idea that you play as just a regular person who only has some courage to face evil headon. The flashy animations in the new style of hack and slash break the atmosphere for me. So that is why Darkstone looks perfect for that long unfulfilled wish of mine. :)

Tarzan’s a surprisingly fun one for a tie-in game with a level of challenge to it you may not expect, although I know it from the playstation. As for the “where does he keep the fruit?” question, don’t ask! 😄
Silver doesn’t seem like something I’d enjoy but it’s actually a different take on a JRPG like game & honestly I like it.
Flanker 2.0 almost seems like “how to steal Russian fast jet” simulator? 😄 seriously though, it’s not my thing but worth a play just to marvel at how good it looks for the time.
Slamtilt Resurrection! Love it! A familiar game remade to take advantage of new hardware can be something great & I love it, flaws & all.
I love me a good FPS but I don’t know Codename: Eagle, which is surprising because as far as I can tell it’s not actually an obscure one?
I don’t know Darkstone either? Looks & sounds fun, from what you’ve said? Like a 1 player RuneScape classic but with more of a flow to it?
Another great list, thanks. It’s good to see games that aren’t necessarily obscure but aren’t the obvious ones for a list either, along side some classic bangers.

Yeah, it's apparently fruit in a promo materials only, and in reality it's differently shaped and coloured poop. You know, because monkeys like to toss it, and he's been raised by one. Well, ape, but you know, potato, gorilla. ;)
Yup, you're one of the two people I meant when saying that I know of two of you always appreciating pinballs :)
Darkstone's definitely worth a try, and especially if you're on a retro hunger. ;) And yeah, these may not be obscure, but they never meant to. Even if some of them end up being little known. :)

Man... Early 2000s LAN party with Codename: Eagle. Has there ever been a better combo? The maps were way too big for a smaller group, but once you got more than about 12 people there was a lot of fun to be had. Battlefield just never managed to capture the "fun" aspect of it all - like dropping a jeep out the back of a zeppelin you just hijacked by leaping out of a plane..

Tarzan? Old and done. Janosik, we should write an epic book about a Polish boy being raised by the Bisons in Białowieża forest. (Also, Starsiege is better than Mechwarrior 3)

That would've been a hell of a book. But given relative number of cities, towns and villages in Poland, getting lost in a forest for the majority of one's life with no access to civilisation is pretty much impossible here. xD

Silver was something unique on the PC.
It was a good game and almost addictive while it was still new, however my interest dropped rapidly to zero after the first time finishing it and i left it untouched, never playing it again. They should have added something to increase the replay value.
