@@TaqeeGreen you wouldn't want rats in a tank anyway because it's hard on their lungs. @@liebling4069 that's awesome! I used silicone baking mats cut to size. Hi Emi! First I just wanted to say thank you so much for doing these videos and educating people about rats, mice and other creatures. I love what your doing. Keep it up! I really wanted to get rats but I don’t have enough space in my room so I was thinking one male mouse may be better. My local pet store sells a cage that is 50cm in length, 36.5cm in depth and 24cm tall. Do you think this will be big enough for him? I would also love to know if you think that a male mouse would be a lot of work because I am a kid and still go to school. I am able to scatter feed him if needed and bond with him in the afternoons. Will I have to look for a bigger cage? I know this video was posted quite a while ago but I hope you respond. I love you so much keep up the great work!
To the person that owns the nature themed detolf set up that looks like an awesome Ewok village.... Something that would look great in there, would be macrame hammocks. If you don't know how, there are lots of tutorials online, and you're DEFINITELY creative enough to get the hang of it. Trust me, I have twp left thumbs and can do macrame. 😉
I have an aquarium with a basic mesh-kinda lid and small zip ties work really well to attach things to the lid! I just attached a fleece rope to mine today and it worked really well!
Emi I would like to thank u for being such a good person to animals I owe u to helping me decide to get mice!! I just got them today!! They are amazing and I love them so much ❤️😍🐭🐭 thanks!! Byeee
What is up with parents allowing kids to own a living thing to "show them" responsibility and then not allowing them to be responsible for the animal by giving it size appropriate cage and enrichment 😬
I'm really excited because I'm getting mice on the 8th of june but I've got a question. I live in england so could you tell me what shop you got your bedding and food stuff from? Btw I love your videos it helps me alot
I really like that you said if they have the means to do it. Too many people say you need to do it or else. And there are a lot of loving owners who cannot meet certain expectations and it makes them feel like bad caretakers. Thank you for your kind word choices
I mean realistically for their pets, if it’s below the minimum they do need to do it, but you can’t force someone to do what’s best if they don’t have the ability to. I do wish people who can’t provide the basics would avoid getting any more pets in the future, but for the ones they have now working towards a minimum sized enclosure at least is the best they can do

Also: where do people source the ropes they hang in the cages? What are they called? Cotten ropes? Hemp ropes? I'd love to use the thick ropes used in rope toys for dogs, but I can only find the ones that have already been made into dog toys
@@panzerkrieg3509 Thank you. I've actually noticed there are often good things in bird (especially parrot) sections, and often higher quality than products for small rodents

Mt neighbor has a ginny pig and is getting another but idk when. But the cage she has him in is for rats so it doesnt have enough floor space and she keeps him on bars how do i tell her that she needs a new cage and to get him off the wire?
If I just got a medium cage like the one when you introduced your new rats to each other could I keep them in there while I’m going to my mums and dad?
One question I have with all of these is how easy is it to clean these out? I guess since they're bigger, it would not need such frequent cleanings, but it seems like it would be very difficult with some of them
I had an escaped white mouse in my house. Didn't know where she came from, I hadn't had a mouse up until that point. But she decided to live here and I was like 'okay, but on my condition: in an enclosure'. Took me a month to catch her, I had a Ferplast Geo Maxi prepared for temporary because I didn't want to spend money on an enclosure while she was still running free, in case she ran outside and the money was spend for nothing. I bought a Petgard Elmo XXL (100*55*35cm, 7mm space between the bars, including a wheel, a platform and a stair) and a couple of friends. Big mistake, while I specifically asked for females I got at least one male, who murdered the other new mice and got the first mouse pregnant. 😬 Now I have 9 mice, if I have it interpret the right way 8 females and 2 males. Like 4 of them are definitely moving out as soon as they're old enough, daddy is also moving out soon. A couple of the female stay here, with their mother. 😊
So I've always owned hamsters but I'm interested in housing a pack of female mice. Hamsters thrive from sand baths and I've been told a lot of things about sand baths and mice. I know they have very sensitive respiratory system so I doubt sand would be safe. is coco fiber any better?
Hi Emi! 👋🏻 I am getting some new rat kittens in the New Year (1. From a reputable breeder, of course, and 2. YAY!!) and I'm looking into feeding and what is best to feed them. I want to incorporate live food into their diet (mealworms etc), but I've seen dividing opinions online over whether freeze dried insects are more nutritionally dense than live, do you have any insight into this please? 😌
That’s exciting! Live is more likely to have more nutrients in, especially if you gut load them and feed them fruit and veg, it’s also more enriching for them having live ones they have to hunt! If you make them a dig box with soil it’s great fun for them to search for them in there!
@@Emiology Ooh, I hadnt thought about putting them into their soil dig box! Thankyou! Love your vids by the way, they have really helped me prepare well for owning ratties 😊 Thanks for the help! 💕
My three mice are in a 40 gallon breeder they have two wheels one is 10 inches and one is a saucer and it’s 7 inches they have lots of hides all of there wood toys are ok for them to chew they have 4 hanging toys and a bridge connecting it all they use paper based bedding that doesn’t have much dust they have about 6 inches of bedding they eat a seed mix and pellets every other day they get fruits and vegetables they have a big water bottle and a shallow water bowl is this ok?
Is a 75 X 37 glass tank ok for a singel mousse that is about hamster size when adult? I found a two week old(ish) baby mouse outside that I’ve been taking care of and I’ve decided to keep him/her because he\she has already grown attached to humans it seems. I want to give it as good of a life as I can..
So i have a 75 gallon tank as my mouses cage, when he does end up passing away i was thinking of trying out rats, would that be a suitable size for probably 2 rats?
Hi! I have 2 female mice (I just got another one that I named Rue, after Ivy’s sister Flower passed 😔) They are currently in the meeting each other stage so they are not living together just yet. But I only have a 10 gallon tank for them. I am trying to convince my mom to let me get a 20 gallon flat but she said that a 10 is all they need. How do I convince her to let me get the bigger cage? I do have the money, but I think my moms main thing is my room is small.
This is just an anecdote, but I had a huge bin cage for all my mice (four females at two different times, and a male) and they never had lid fo their cages. The walls were super tall and nothing was close enough to the top. So there’s that! Also for the last one it says inches, not centimeters.
I have a male mouse named "Julius Cheeser". I bought a $50.00 5 floor metal cage with a hide house, water feeder, and food bowl, with a big tube wrapping around the top of the cage, and a lot of extra slides. All because I wanted to name it "Cheeser Palace" Only real gigachads got the "Julius Cheeser" joke
Sorry, one more thing: when you say "send it in" (photos of mouse cage), where do I send it to? The UA-cam channel's email address "for business inquiries"?
She makes an announcment on her community page a few weeks before filming one of these videos. There's an email address in the posts, so just look out for that the next time.
Will you be doing another one of these videos in the future? I’m getting mice very soon and when I get them I’d love for you to react and give your opinion on my enclosure :)
Good lord... poor rat! Maybe get her to watch Emi's videos on subscriber rat cages and get her to check out r/rats on reddit for examples. If she's so sure it's fine, have her make a throw away account and post a picture for feedback and she'll be in for an awakening. She can even make a bin cage really cheaply if she gets hardware cloth to mesh out the sides.
Hi I was wondering I’m about to be a new mice owner and I haven’t seen people like to video on this before but am I able to use straw as a betting I’m doing as much research as I can because I wanna get my mice to live amazing lives as best of my ability I was just a question I just thought of it so if you could answer I would absolutely love to know thank you
You can use dust extracted straw and hay as nesting material or enrichment but not as the only main bedding as it’s not absorbent enough to soak up pee and will quickly start to stink
Most of these stories about parents not letting their kids be responsible makes me angry. Like your kid did research and you are forcing them to be bad pet owners! But, on the other hand if you can't afford it on your own you should wait till you can.
I definitely want to do this eventually! But rn my boy is in a 10 gallon and I can’t really do much until I get him a bigger enclosure! 10 gallon really sucks and I don’t see how anyone could possibly put multiple mice in there comfortably
My girls are 5 weeks old and in a 15 gallon. I plan on giving them an upgrade this Christmas, so I'm binging a bunch of these videos so I can give them a great new forever home! Edit: Now they're in a 30 gallon bin cage and I might add an extra bin eventually. They're definitely happier with all the running space.
This makes me feel bad about my cage. I have one mouse I don't know its gender cause it was wild and I saved it from a trash can that it would have frozen in I'm not allowed to have him so I have him in a 10 gallon tank ( I know it's kinda small but google said it should be ok) everything is homemade and he is very shy do you have any advice?
I'd personally think about releasing him/her back into the wild. Being trapped inside a cage when it's used to having free range will probably be extremely stressful to them. Plus wild mice can carry some extremely dangerous diseases that can make you seriously ill.
How many females do you reccomend housing together? Have 10 gallon aquarium for now. Have a momma and 4 babies. Unsure sex of babies yet but planning on keeping the females. Should I keep momma as well with them or separate them at 4 weeks?
Hey! I know you may not see this, but I just got my first mouse. He’s a small male (not very old). I was just wondering if it was okay to have a smaller cage for 1 mouse or if I should get a big one. I am currently using a bin cage with lots of ventilation for air, I’m not entirely sure how big it is, but I would love feedback from you or anybody in the comments!
I know this is from a week ago and i personally haven't owned mice yet but if you still need help even if you get 1 male the minim is a 20 gallon or equivalent to a 20 gallon🐭
Hi! Completely unrelated, but you made a video a long time ago where your rats were playing with peas in the water, would it be possible to make mice do that too? with a smaller water level of course, but would they like it and is it safe?
Make up a care schedule that includes everything you'll do for them each day and how long you'll spend in each task. It takes me about 30 minutes to clean the whole cage once a week and maybe 5 minutes a day to spot clean. I'd say give yourself 45 minutes for weekly cleaning and 15 minutes a day to spot clean just until you get the hang of it. Also make a budget sheet. Include the start up costs for cafe and basic toys then a monthly one for food and bedding. It's actually not very expensive at all to care for two or three.
What is the minimum size a mouse wheel should be? I wasn't aware a wheel that's too small can cause spine injuries... I'd love to learn more about that. My mouse's wheel is 15 cm in diameter, and 7 cm wide + frame (the frame is an additional 1 cm on each side). He also has a smaller wheel which is 12 cm in diameter, and 3.5 cm wide + frame. The small wheel is not in the cage, just an extra outside the cage that he uses sometimes but not often. (Both wheels are plastic)
My parents told me I wasn’t allowed to get a bigger bin cage... I ended up just doing it anyway... Now I have two!

Hi I have 11 mice and they are kinda alot of work for me but if it's one it should be kinda easy to take care.
Omg I love ur vids and also your vids always make my day -Phoebe
Thank you phoebe! 💕
I have an aquarium with a basic mesh-kinda lid and small zip ties work really well to attach things to the lid! I just attached a fleece rope to mine today and it worked really well!
A lot of your videos have been teaching me about mice keeping and when I get my own eyes I really want to put some stuff for them to climb
Emi I would like to thank u for being such a good person to animals I owe u to helping me decide to get mice!! I just got them today!! They are amazing and I love them so much ❤️😍🐭🐭 thanks!! Byeee
I love the names that you pick for your rats and mice😊😊😊
WHERE DO YOU GET THOSE GIANT CAGES!?
What is up with parents allowing kids to own a living thing to "show them" responsibility and then not allowing them to be responsible for the animal by giving it size appropriate cage and enrichment 😬
I'm really excited because I'm getting mice on the 8th of june but I've got a question. I live in england so could you tell me what shop you got your bedding and food stuff from? Btw I love your videos it helps me alot
I MISSED IT AGAIN UGGHHHHH
I really wanted to show you Clyde's cage as I'm proud of it but I keep missing the posts :((
Really good vid good job!!
I do wish people who can’t provide the basics would avoid getting any more pets in the future, but for the ones they have now working towards a minimum sized enclosure at least is the best they can do
QUESTION: I have a 2 critter trails there is only one mouse in each one so they are alone but they each get most of they day out with me so they get plenty on exercise and since there’s only one mouse in each one I was wondering if that’s an okay size for just one there both males btw so they can’t be together I’ve tried and they didn’t like each other
No even Male mice need a cage that’s 80x50cm minimum. I suggest making them bin cages ASAP as critter trails are too small for anything to live in
Emiology even if there only in there while I’m sleeping and for when I’m at like grocery stores ?
Yes. Still not okay. When you’re asleep is when mice are most active as they’re nocturnal, it’s not fair for them to be in a tiny cage.
Emiology okay thanks will be upgrading soon
Hey, my rat just got hurted by my dog. She looks fine physically, but she's kinda closing her eyes and falling asleep when she's usually very playful
What is happening and what can I do? Please answer fast
If she’s squinting / hunched she’s in pain. She could have internal damage / bleeding ☹️ take her to a vet.
Take her to the vet. What is it with people asking UA-camrs for help on figuring out any illness or injury your aniaml has. Its common sense that if they arent acting normal, that they need to go to the Vet. Smh
I’m getting mice for my birthday and your videos have helped me understand them and how to care for them
OMGGG my cage is in there :) thank u so much for taking the time! I'm the girl with last cage, I'll try to get another bigger bin with a cover so i ca put some mesh on top :)
Where can I get all of those wooden ramps and ropes I can’t find them
I hope I’m early cause I really trie to because you vids are amazing❤️
Hi there. I’ve caught a house mouse which I’ll look after over the winter months - I figured it wouldn’t survive if i just released it into the fields. What do u suggest I do when the weather starts getting warmer?
Also: where do people source the ropes they hang in the cages? What are they called? Cotten ropes? Hemp ropes? I'd love to use the thick ropes used in rope toys for dogs, but I can only find the ones that have already been made into dog toys
Some of those rainbow ropes are from the bird section.
@@panzerkrieg3509 Thank you. I've actually noticed there are often good things in bird (especially parrot) sections, and often higher quality than products for small rodents
If you go onto the webriste rat rations go to the rope section they have lots of ropes to choose from and you can choose how long you want them :)
I am really REALLY late on this but I don't know how I could send you some pics of my girl and her cage... there is not much n to do in it but after watching some vid of yours I am looking into making things and adding things but I'm very limeted to what o can do bec I'm only a kid
I got a question
If i am geting two female mice is 1 weel good for them? Or do i need 2 weels
I know you will not back to me but i love your videose
One should be fine ☺️
Hi how can I send you a picture of my mice cage, I think it’s a little small but I’m not sure what to do
Mt neighbor has a ginny pig and is getting another but idk when.
I guess since they're bigger, it would not need such frequent cleanings, but it seems like it would be very difficult with some of them
ooh! where can i submit mine? by the way, thank you! you’ve taught me so much on how to handle my mice. :)
I love your videos ❤❤❤
is the critter trail super habitat with 540 square inches good for mice ?
Now I have 9 mice, if I have it interpret the right way 8 females and 2 males.
Coco fibre is great ☺️
Amazing video!
Does paddy husk can be used as bedding for mice and rats
When are you doing another reacting to your subscribers rat cages?
I don’t know, not until after December otherwise it gets a bit repetitive ☺️
@@Emiology ok can't wait to see the video :D
Also are you still on amino?
I want to give it as good of a life as I can..
can you use clear tape to make your own accessories? or is clear tape harmful for mice?
So i have a 75 gallon tank as my mouses cage, when he does end up passing away i was thinking of trying out rats, would that be a suitable size for probably 2 rats?
No, rats can’t live in tanks as they don’t provide them with enough ventilation and it wouldn’t be big enough
I wish I saw this in your story haha would’ve sent mine again xx
I love how you are so sweet giving criticism
All because I wanted to name it "Cheeser Palace"
Only real gigachads got the "Julius Cheeser" joke
Wait the bin with crittertrail on top... no bin ventilation??
Was wondering the same...
I didn’t notice that 😰
It looked like it had holes at the top... But they were kinda small.
@@bratatouille Thank you Mika
Will you be doing another one of these videos in the future? I’m getting mice very soon and when I get them I’d love for you to react and give your opinion on my enclosure :)
Are the bin cages good for mice? I’m scared mine will chew threw it?
Are you doing this again by any chance? I really need some advice!
I have a 40 gallon tank for 3 mice is that ok?
Yep!
7:16 i thought they needed a wheel?
I have a 280 square inch cage and am interested in getting a mouse. Would this be enough for one male mouse?
Probably but still quite small
I met this girl and she has her rat in a critter trail and I told her she needs to upgrade but she won’t listen what should I do ?
Send her all the resources that say why it’s bad that it’s alone in a tiny cage
@@Emiology ok thank you so very much
i love youuu i got my mice bc of you i got them about 7 months ago :) and they live in a bin cage!!!
edit: i had to correct my spelling
Most of these stories about parents not letting their kids be responsible makes me angry. Like your kid did research and you are forcing them to be bad pet owners! But, on the other hand if you can't afford it on your own you should wait till you can.
How do I send In a picture of my cage I have two rats?
I kept referring to it as a him but idk the gender
I'd personally think about releasing him/her back into the wild. Being trapped inside a cage when it's used to having free range will probably be extremely stressful to them. Plus wild mice can carry some extremely dangerous diseases that can make you seriously ill.
Where do I submit photos for mouse cage reviews? Or for suggestions
How many females do you reccomend housing together? Have 10 gallon aquarium for now. Have a momma and 4 babies. Unsure sex of babies yet but planning on keeping the females. Should I keep momma as well with them or separate them at 4 weeks?
3+ in a group at all times but how many you keep above that is up to you ☺️ I don’t recommend anything smaller than a 40 gallon
Hi! Love your videos! What do you feed your mice?
The bigger the better. Minimum of 20 gallons but I say 40 gallons is better
Who else sent in a mouse cage but it didn’t get reacted to just curious
Hundreds of people 😅
Hi! Completely unrelated, but you made a video a long time ago where your rats were playing with peas in the water, would it be possible to make mice do that too? with a smaller water level of course, but would they like it and is it safe?
How do u think I can convince my mum to let me have she’s rly close I made her a slide show and a speech please help me get a good idea
Is lettuce safe for mice? Also my mouse chews the bars of his cage. Is it because he's stressed it because he just wants attention?
Iceberg lettuce should be avoided because it’s too watery, but romaine lettuce should be fine!
Emiology thank you
