www.revzilla.co...
In this detailed how-to Motorcycle Pants Sizing & Buying Guide, we walk you step-by-step through the sizing process needed to successfully buy pants online. There are a few basic types of motorcycle pants and we show examples of each type as well as discuss pros and cons. Determining the right size can be as easy as selecting your jeans size to trying to figure out where your natural waist lies. This video demonstrates how to properly take waist, hip and inseam measurements to compare to manufacturers size charts. It's easiest to obtain accurate measurements with the help of a friend and a flexible tailors tape measure, but a length of string will do in a pinch. Nearly all manufacturers require a waist measurement to find the proper size which is just below your belly button for a man and about 1" above your belly button for a woman. Inseam measurements start at the highest point of your leg and end at your ankle bone. Keep in mind when looking at a size chart, that those are your measurements, not the dimensions of the pants. Pants that have short and long versions, as well as adjustable knee armor help a rider get a more personalized fit. When in doubt on sizing, we have a large staff of Gear Geeks that can address your sizing questions and our flexible return policy makes is painless to return if you don't get it right the first time.
RevZilla Do you have any suggestion of leather pants that don't have a "saggy butt?" Hopefully that makes sense. The Dainese leather pants here look like what I am referring to!
MrPhipper Leather sport/race pants are designed for the riding position, so as soon as you get on the pegs and into a tuck, that saggy butt goes away! -DrewZilla
it helps, I wrecked and I'm safe but I pooped myself in terror, the extra room in the back was useful! try not to judge but it can happen
I nearly got hit by a car and ended up in a ditch! didn't realize until the struggle lol
Love the customer support. You guys go above and beyond than some big named department stores. You've got yourself a loyal customer in me.
The quality of your videos is outstanding. Keep up the good work.
Adrian Wolf Thanks Adrian! We really appreciate the feedback and support! We'll keep at it! -DrewZilla
I just upgraded to a half litre bike and was looking forward to buy some gears and your video was really insightful for me. Thank you. Ride safe, be safe brothers. 💓
Awesome feedback. Thank you for the support. ~Ali
We do, there is a "big & tall" filter on our navigation bar when searching through apparel. -CK
Awesome Video. I've never heard a more informed person talk about bike apparel. He is Clear and concise, without stumbling thru his thoughts. Although he speaks slightly faster than one might want, it is slow enough for us to comprehend, without the need to play over and over. I look forward to other videos you have on sizing jackets and perhaps the different types of riding boots.
Thanks,
G
Remember you can always slow the video down if required! Or make it faster!
Typically there is a separate hip insert pocked on the interior of the hip, but I don't know if those pants come with that feature. As for in or out of the boot that depends on how big your boot is! Generally, touring pants fit over the boot, while enduro and race pants fit in the boot. -CK
Nope! Sorry, but attaching jackets to pants is something that only works within a brand (Astars to Astars, Dainese to Dainese). You can certainly wear them together, but they just won't zip together. -CK
I generally don't wear anything underneath my chaps.
Christip*
ChrisTripp Your ass must sweat on the seat, gross.
came here knowing i would find this comment
ChrisTripp At least in warm weather.
Lmaoo, pics?
Chaps - "We really hope you're wearing something underneath them"
This is true....but, we don't judge! -Hi-Viz Brian
Thank you so much for answering! I found a place for them in the interior of the pants.
Anthony's voice and hand gestures is like going to the doctors haha I love it. Just get that feeling idk how to explain it.
Well, you can, but its up to you if you want to look like a motorcyclist or not. Denim is the least protective, but the most incognito. -CK
We do ship some items to India. Please view our international shipping policies under the customer service section of our website. Which pant were you referring to? -CK
Free shipping only applies to orders shipped within the continental US. We would recommend using a re-shipper like MyUS.com for international shipments. We would ship for free to them and they would charge you for items shipped abroad. -CK
What are the pants in this video
I'll be buying from these guys.
hey, thanks for these videos guys, when i first started shopping for my gear (which i bought before my bike lol) it was very hard for me to find gear that fit me well, (not that my size is out there, 6'1" 195lbs) or hard to get retailers around here to give me more information on the types of gear than was posted on the tag. I've been riding 2 years now, and I'm getting ready to look for some cold weather gear, and you better believe i'll be shopping your site, just wanted to stop by when i saw this video and say thanks, without these guides i would have walked into the store uneducated, and would have probably walked out unsatisfied.
Awesomesauce! AnHRTBus, send me an email at cs@revzilla.com please. We need to get you a Hi-Viz t-shirt. -Hi-Viz Brian
pants and jackets dosent matter. my tip is make sure they fit as close to body as possble..! the better the fit the better protec you have..!
i could go on and on ltell you lot.. the diffents fron leather text and jeans but if you just use your head i think you all will work out what is better for your needs..!
stay safe and have fun
yours
john.
Well said! Thanks John. -Hi-Viz Brian
very well made video yet I would like to see more in this regard
Very useful, thanks.
It depends on the products / brands. Shoot us a line!
They are halvarssons/lindstrands (swedish brand). Unfortunately I didn't buy them from you guys, I was just hoping that someone might know the answer to my problem. I've put them inside the pockets of my pants, but I felt kinda stupid putting them in.
So if the knee pads are under my knees when I'm off the bike that's okay? As long as they are on my knees when I'm in the riding position?
David Munoz They should be properly positioned when your knees are bent in the riding position. Off the bike, they will sit lower, and that's fine. I think you have the correct size. -DrewZilla
2:27 hmm i never used that for pants before..
Thanks for information your website is really very informative, I am looking for joe rocket alter ego 2.0, find that really good.
Suggest if you have some options, i am planning to ride for Leh-Kargil-Zanskar (quite cold over there & a rainy too).
Dope so my pants aren’t too tight I’ll just get used to them 😂
do you people ship to india, this pant is really good for rainy season & winters :)
I'll keep that in mind...
Looks kinda like the solution for the Klim Mojave pants you are offering.
Not sure about the measurement of the inseam / crotch. Dainese website says to measure from the crotch to the ground floor NOT the ankle bone.
Taken from the Dainese website.
"The inner leg measurement is the distance between the crotch and the ground. It is the distance between the lowest part of the trunk and the soles of the feet measured when standing upright with the feet slightly apart and the weight of the body evenly distributed on both legs."
Please use Dainese's recommendation of measuring to the floor. Keep in mind that the most important measurements are waist and hip size. -DrewZilla
what if i bought a leather pants..but no jacket with the same brand..how do i pair it with?
Hey travcoombes22, give our Gear Geeks a call for expert fit advice! They can figure out what will work best for you. -CK
I just went and tried on some alpinestar track pants and they fit nice and snug in the legs but the waist seems slightly too tight with the clip done up. I was thinking if they was some kind of clip modification that extends it back 5-10mm so it's just that little bit looser?
Grizzly Goober I haven't seen any clip modification, but the leather will stretch a bit. -DrewZilla
Can you wear some kind of a regular pant under those "textile" pants? I'm getting a bike just for commuting. I like the looks and comfort of those overpants (looks like my snowboard pants) but I'm worried about protection.
Kazathul I would not be able to fit regular pants underneath the White REV'IT! pants. They're too snug. I would have to go up one size. Overpants are a great option if you're looking for protection and convenience. -Hi-Viz Brian
I got some hip protector pads with my pants: Where am i supposed to mount/place them? The manual wasnt really that helpful.
And are the pants supposed to go in or over the boots when suiting up?
Can I pair this with a alpinestars leather jacket?
Like the tech 1r or the gp tech air
Love your website guys BUT!! why don't you do a range for people who don't win the lotto or own a mansion lol, I don't have a lot of money as I am sure other people do not. why not make a range that caters for us poor ppl lol and your vids are great so easy to understand and informative
I got perfect pants...they did Not have hip protection included though...I added Them and it did Not fit anymore :/
Hi can I use Sliders on Textile pants??? or do I only use leather pants for knee sliders??
Is RevZilla gear shipped to the uk as well? going to get gear soon so just want to make sure
I have a trouble finding a leather pants that fits me. I'm a 5-04 woman and I normally wear 2-4 for jeans. All of the leather pants I tried had too big on my hip, quad and legs when they fit on my waist, or if I go smaller size, it would fit on my legs and thighs but woudn't fit on my waist. I was wondering if I should keep a pants that is not snug on my legs at all but fits on my waist, I heard lots of people saying that the leg armor is useless when it's not skin tight. I bought and returned three pants already but couldn't find something that fits me, please help me!!
thank you. one more question. is textile enough for a slide at freeway speeds?? or am I better off getting leather pants that do not zip to my jacket??
Most higher-quality textile riding pants are fine for a slide from freeway speeds. The higher you go above the legal speed limit, though, the better off you'll be with leather. As an example, I wear textile riding gear that zips together. -DrewZilla
Write our Gear Geeks for some opinions on jackets or a recommendation on what is best for your riding style. I'd suggest the REV'IT! Sand 2 jacket. It is easily one of the most versatile options we have available. -CK
Why do you take a leg measurement? No retailer I’ve seen online offers anything other than basic waist size.
Let's take for example a pair of Dainese leather pants (like those shown in the video). Dainese's size chart provides ranges for waist, hip, inseam, and height measurements. -DrewZilla

Great video! DO these generally fit differently than jeans? If I am a 30" in jeans would I want close to a 30 or higher in these? Thank you RevZilla
+Bear Bite Yes, they fit differently than jeans. Most motorcycle pants are sized in brand-specific small/medium/large/etc sizing or European numeric sizing (48, 50, 52, 54, etc.). Therefore, we recommend using a cloth tape measure to measure your waist around the belly button/navel as well as your hip/seat measurement around the widest point below your waist (basically around your butt). Then look at the size chart linked on each pant's product page on our website. -DrewZilla
so the only wearable pants for every day are denim...right? i mean you cant go for coffee or a drink and wear textile pants or leather...
The inseam measurement is incorrect for Alpinestar pants. I don't know about the others. I used the measurement shown here and about a bought a pair of pants, I thought they fit and now I can't return them. I measured the inseam to my ankle bone that stuck out, as the video shows. However, it says on the Alpinestars website that it needs to be measured to the bottom of your leg, all the way down to the bottom of your foot. cdn.alpinestars.com/media//sizing/moto_clothing_EURO_sizing_chart.jpg This needs to be corrected in the video.
Wesley Mahler On all our Alpinestars Pants product pages, we use Alpinestars' own diagram, which recommends measuring to the floor. Most other brands measure to the ankle, but you are correct that Alpinestars measures to the floor. -DrewZilla
my sizing(EU):
Bodylenght: size 50
Inseam: size 48
Hip: size 58/60 (yes im fat)
im screwed for leather sportsbike/racetrack pants.
Only option is Alpinestars Missile pants(SHORT) and then it wont fit properly I geuss. Not the 100% protection that It should give.
Any ideas revzilla?
Is 1 piece suit even an option?
I recommend considering pairing an Alpinestars GP Pro Jacket with Alpinestars Missile Pants, since the Missile Pants come in short sizes up to size EU60. -DrewZilla

Try Aerostich for a one piece, they cost S however they are excellent
Cool. I'm a new rider. I don't know to much about gear. Do you sell anything that zips up to th alpinestars t gp air jacket??
Yes, here are a few options. -DrewZilla

what pants would you recommend for daily freeway use?? thank you.
We'd recommend most any of our leather or textile riding pants. -DrewZilla

I have Alpinestars SMX5 boots. Will the pants be able to go on top of them, because there is a big plastic protector?
It depends on the pants. Leather track/race pants are designed to fit inside your boots, whereas most textile riding pants will fit over top of your boots, even with the big plastic protector. -DrewZilla
What pants do you have? I'll see if I can help you out with your questions! -CK
Would something like a knee pad still give the same protection or are motorcycle pants necessary?
Eid Zaben Knee pads will help around your knees, but you leave the rest of your legs exposed if you don't wear motorcycle pants. -Hi-Viz Brian

Thanks for help!;)
That's what we are here for. We are pumped you found it helpful. -Hi-Viz Brian
**i forgot to mention that im talking about the Shift Faction Skylab Pants
I'm looking for riding jeans but I'd like to have armor like the RHOK jeans. Are there any other options for jeans with armor? Or, what would you suggest? Thanks!
Hey should you size up when your buying a textile pant ?
Depends on the pant! Usually they run pretty true to size, but some have fit tendencies to be bigger or smaller than normal. -CK
6:08 Leather pants should be snug, but not tight.
my leather pants fit well (tight) except when I sit on the bike (slightly sporty position) then the goddamn end rides halfway up my shins..wtf
“A lot of times you may or may not .....” that basically means nothing. Lol
cotes42 depends on which side of the fence your shadow falls.
What are the pants in this video
The first textile pants are the older REV'IT! Sand 2 Pants, now replaced by the Sand 3 Pants. The leather pants are older Dainese Delta Pro Pants, now replaced by the Delta 3 and Misano Pants. Then there were the old Icon overpants and the Dainese D1 Jeans. All are now discontinued. -DrewZilla

do they make riding jeans with armor inserts?
Yes, many of the riding jeans we carry include armor or have pockets for armor. See our riding jeans guide for some recommendations. -DrewZilla

You need to think Europe. Buy some stores! ;)
What are the exact pants that he mentions at 8:52?
Ah, for baggier jeans, take a look at the current options below. -DrewZilla

Well these look fine and all that, but I would still like to know the exact pants. I just love the way they look. Of course if its still even in stock.
Hold on, are you referring to baggier pants or are you talking about the jeans that you see in the video? The jeans in the video are the Dainese D1 jeans, which were discontinued a few years ago. They were replaced with the D1 EVO Jeans. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-d1-evo-jeans
Thanks for the info, and yeah I was referring to the exact pants the in the video.
The last one looks like it's from Magic Mike🤣
Like youve seen magic mike
i wear 52 in my pants... should i get a 54?
In general, you would order your same size. Which specific motorcycle pants are you referring to? -DrewZilla
+RevZilla i Refer on dainese leather pants.... Leather is more tight right?
Sport leather pants are designed to have a slim fit, but you don't need to change sizes. 52 should be correct for a safe fit. -DrewZilla
+RevZilla But if i get 54 just to be sure will it fit me well?
54 will probably be too loose and too bulky. Leather is thick, so you don't want too much extra material. Leather also stretches, so size 52 will become slightly bigger over time. -DrewZilla
Could have done without the bulge closeup during the chaps segment.
Photo314159 The show must go on! -Hi-Viz Brian
Lol...
Clint the Audio Guy It was fake.
How do obese men size pants? Around the belly button is a LOT larger than what’s below. If I start out with pants around the belly button, the pants slip down beneath my gut in short order; then the pants want to fall down.
3 years and no response. I came here to see if there was any input on this myself.
I still have no good solution. What I do now is wear some cheaper Thor knee/shin armor under my jeans. It’s hot and bulky. Looks ok if jeans are loose. I may do Bohn armor in the future. Maybe riding jeans or overpaints would work better for fat guys. Too, if you call these guys, they can help with more specific recommendations.
