1995 Porsche 993 Speedster: Unicorn Conversion

- Porsche only built one official Speedster variant of the last air-cooled 911 (the 993), and that car was constructed for none other than Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche. Later on, Jerry Seinfeld would send his 993 Cab to the factory and pay an untold but obviously lofty sum to have it converted. A few third party workshops made their own conversions over the years, but in other words, the 993 Speedster barely exists, and was never sold to the public from Porsche.
But for Karen and her husband Jäger, both avid 993 fans, it was a shape too captivating to forget. So, they bought a 993 Cab that already had a few 964 Speedster pieces fitted, did a bunch of research over the course of a few years and few trips around the world, and got to work. With the help of John Fogg, the car that emerged on the other end of their Speedster quest lives up to the one that had taken up residence in their dreams, and they’ve been enjoying the unique P-car ever since.

Or they could've settled for a standard Carrera Convertible which is exactly the same only has a roof hence is more practical.
They are not exactly the same. The Speedster has a low profile windscreen that is angled rear more than standard. Much lower than standard. They look like a chop top when the top is up. A 911 convertible is one of the ugliest cars with the top raised.
Beautiful car, but I wouldn't say its much of a "unicorn" judt because not everyone wants this car. Yeah, its a porsche, but its no 930 blackbird twin turbo!!!

Does not sound like an aircooled 993 at all. Broken exhaust or some other rubbish just put the the sound track.
In 2020 get rid of those horrible over riders on the rear. Nice car all the same
I love the concept of the wife showing the car. However, not a fan of showing off that huge ring. It doesn’t belong and gives away the mentality of the owners... Showing off their wealth reminds me of the Russian oligarchs: more money, no culture...

Just doesn't look right to me: the hump just seems way too high, or maybe it's the widebody - I dunno, it just doesn't 'flow'. The 1989 version just looks better integrated, but this just looks way too big. Just my opinion anyway! (Oh, and what is up with that exhaust? It sounds like a can with a hole in it - that engine should NOT sound like that!).

I never cared for the late model speedsters. And air cooled cabs in general don't look great IMO, top up or down. 911s look best as coupes to me. This is a very nice car, but I'd rather have my air cooled dream 911, a bone stock 993 4S in Zenith Blue.
I don't think this is a proper application of the term 'unicorn' unless they mean she ran over a unicorn. If not that, I don't know what is making that awful sound.

People complaining about the looks and exhaust but they dont even realize the beauty of this car. Ofcourse for some pople think its ugly because they only care for style and modern looking cars but this 911 right here is a piece of art that should be driven evryday and appreciated :))

Man, I just shot a bunch of footage at redrock, drone and driving stuff. Gave me some good ideas as well, for future shots. Fremont has some great style these days...come a long way.

That is one fine conversion!! Well done! The attention to detail is stunning. Looks totally "factory". I remember seeing one of the first 964 Speedsters, in white, at Vasek Polak's in 1989(?), fell in love. A French model car company issued a 1/43 scale model in resin around that time and I bought a dozen of them...sold them through the shop. Saw Seinfeld's conversion at a Rodeo Drive car show and it was spectacular.
