If you take the air restrictors out they fire really well, and it takes just two screws to remove the loading door on the sentry. These blasters are great for moding. But yes, stock they're not that great.
Something else I wanted to add; rival-esque rounds take up more vertical space than a dart, but much less horizontal space, so a tube-style magazine can be much more efficient - good job on dart zone for that one
I honestly like dartzone better than nerf by a little. With alpha strike and the just making a influx on prices when they don’t need to, there just trying to cash in on us. Plus dartzone is very innovative in a lot of ways such as dartzone pro. And I know that this isn’t a modding channel, but my friend put a high powered long shot spring due to the plunger size and made a massively powerful blaster out of it.
Yep, the large plungers and everything are there for these blasters, but it seems like the seals are off on the Sentry and it just bleeds power as a result. Liberator meanwhile just needs a new spring - 13 coils of a K25 gets me up to 120fps or so.
What I like about Sentry is you can leave it fully loaded over time and not worry about leaving your gun primed like with Chronos and worry about ruining your spring. With Chronos you have to discharge a round after loading it which will take you down to 4 shots. You can also top it off while having it primed which is not something you can do with Chronos. I love my Chronos but Sentry IMO is a very cool gun with extremely unique loading mechanism. Hopefully spring can be upgraded.
Also loading port flap is removable to make topping off and loading very easy. Can yank it off when you're shooting out with friends, put it in your pocket, then slap it back on after you're done. For $10 I'm liking Sentry quite a bit but no avoiding it, it does shoot weak and sometimes dry fires. If those things can be fixed this will be a very nice gun.
Also it seems like Nerf is finally getting some actual competition. I can see the Sentry possibly replacing the Kronos. Edit: Nvm, just realized the magazine spring and FPS is abysmal.
I originally thought the Sentry was going to be a Kronos killer. Personally, I think it is. -$10 cheaper than the Kronos. -+1 capacity. -But performance is slightly less. But...with X-shot's Meteor out... -Better performance than the Sentry. -Sits in-between price of Sentry and Kronos. -Twice the ammo capacity of Sentry. Seems like the Meteor is now where it's at. Just depends on your budget. I have both and aside from 1 Sentry lemon (which can be fixed), have no regrets.
You should make another nerf competition. The contestants should be: The dart zone guy Rival guy Mega guy Elite guy Doomlands guy You decide the guns for the contestants 😁. Please do this coop, this would be super cool 😎 Edit: wow that’s a lot of likes
What I’ve noticed is that these latest entries in the adventure force line have very large air restrictors, as just removing it from the sentry adds around 10-15 FPS. Still lower than a chronos, but with the liberator it’s a bit more useful if you really like the shotgun form factor and dislike the titanium. The sentry is just a meh blaster overall, tbh. Get it only if you don’t have a chronos and/or want a weird blaster pistol to tinker with, however being able to top off on the fly is a nice bonus compared to having to prime the blaster to load up
What's great about the Liberator is that you can load on the fly, trick is to use the jam release button on the side. And you can load 13 darts using an 11 +2 loading technique as the empty space from the chamber and the white door is enough space for 2 darts to be loaded before loading the remaining 11.
3 points: I put tape over the safety to keep it locked in all the time. The liberator - **make sure you physically close the loading door with your hand on the shotgun - if you use the pump action mechanism to close the door when you prime it, it will misfire for the first shot**. I wonder if these are purposely weaker so they can be sold in places like Australia?
I like that shotty for it's small compact 10 round design. The lack of power usually doesn't mean that much indoors. that pistol hasn't got any advantages over a common disruptor.
The Liberator has one major flaw; the loading mechanism does not allow you to reload until you've emptied the magazine. There is a white paddle or flap that pushes out of the way as you load balls, its natural sprung position being the down position when the blaster is the right way up. Once loaded and turned over, you have to dry fire once before you can load a ball to fire. The balls then pass over the top of the paddle, trapping it in the down position until the magazine is empty. It also chronos at around 78 fps for me, a good 12 fps lower than the Takedown that averages 90 fps. The Takedown only takes 8 balls, but you can top up the magazine anytime the loading port is open. In a battle situation I'd prefer the Takedown, or the Rival Saturn which has a 10 round capacity and a stock.
Bought the sentry before I saw this review, I liked it cuz the reload mechanic is pretty neat (I like blasters with odd/unique reloads) Also the little area just before the actual magazine hole, the little halfpipe thing, you can hold like 2 extra balls there and still close the mag cover, then when you run out you can open it and quick load those two balls for a few more shots.
the liberator is not recommended for hvz either, not even for its ammo, but because you cant top it off easilly. due to how the magazine feeding mechanism works, if you try to feed more balls into the tube while thers still ammo in the blaster, it will force balls into the chamber, essentially double feeding the blaster or jamming it outright. the only easy way, and what feels like the ONLY way dart zone wanted you to load this, is when you are completely empty, which for hvz or general topping off... wont work. and the blaster is built where modding this section wont work either since the ammo door and guide ramp are sady necessities to even load at all
The liberator is still pretty fun. Love mine despite the low FPS. Though now I’ve got my eyes on the X-Shot Orbit. The price on both of them is hard to beat as well.
Took me forever to finally find the liberator. Swear they changed the stock spring. Mine hits hard af (welts within 15ft)! That jam/double feed when trying to top up is the only problem I found (excluding trigger handle finish being loose). Only 2 misfire and one double feed during regular operation (10+ reloads).
I bought a Sentry for my son (mostly just because he likes everything in BLUE - and the only Kronos I could find at the time was white). He really likes it - but he is 10 and not a serious 'Nerfer'. NOTE: I have seen some feeding issues on his, but mostly when he overloads the chamber - I think he shoved 9 in one time...
Seems like so far anyone tries to make a shotgun load has feeding issues.... the buzzbee monorail.... and the liberator. LOVE all your reviews, can’t wait for next video. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Franklin! I was somewhat salty that the Sentry and Liberator don't appear to have made it to the UK, but now I feel less upset. Coop (paraphrased) : If you want a Hasbro shotgun form-factor blaster, try the Artemis or its bigger brother, the Hades. Atlas & Hypnos: Are we a joke to you? Anyone - literally anyone: Yes.
I have both the Artemis and Hades. Recommend the Artemis. Not so much the Hades. Too long, and uncomfortable to pump and shoulder. But as of this message, I believe the Hades is in Clearance at Walmarts in Canada. $49, as I recall. 🤔
I grabbed a bunch of these. Had no issues with the Sentry, overall...with the exception of 1 out of the batch of 6 I picked up. The internal spring was definitely not seated properly. The Liberator does have some feeding issues. While I don't have a chronograph, I did compare both to their Rival counterparts. I didn't notice such a drastic difference in FPS performance. The Sentry and Liberator performance was slightly less. I think Frank might've gotten lemons. Maybe the overall issue is quality control on the assembly line. 🤔
Ok believe it or not My dad got shot in the eye with this from about 5 yards away because this little kid thought it would be funny to shoot him directly in the eye and now he is half blind and his other eye was never too good, So his vision sucks now.
Something I think you didn't think about. Just because Hasbro created the Rival line to shoot harder and appeal to an older audience doesn't mean that everyone else has to follow suit. There's nothing inherently faster or more powerful about Rival rounds compared to something like short darts or even full length darts (almost the reverse is true given Rival ammo's tendency to be less than accurate at high velocity). Dart zone have basically made a line of "Rival" blasters that kids can use, and older nerfers can easily mod these blasters to get above Rival performance just as we always have.
I just picked up an X2 from goodwill for $3 and it shoots stronger and farther than my Kronos. I did hear that they updated these later on after the initial release.
I'm wondering if Coop got a dud Sentry with bad springs. Mine gets an average 80 fps, which is slightly better than the stock Kronos I tested it against. I had no loading problems unless I tried to overstuff the magazine. Remove the loading flap and you can pop balls in on the fly, making it much handier than the Kronos. The loading flap on the Kronos also serves no purpose and can be removed, as Hasbro did on all later top-loading internal magazine small capacity (10 or fewer rounds) Rival blasters. Carry a dump pouch of balls on your hip and you're good. I also took off the trigger safety which was annoying, isn't necessary and it works fine without it. You cannot load the Kronos without having one ball in the firing chamber; essentially it's a 4+1, not a 5 round blaster. The Sentry is genuinely 6 in the internal magazine, +1 in the chamber if you wish, so 7 vs 5. Given the choice for a battle I'd take the Sentry over the Kronos.
I'm buying the liberator for regular nerf battles because I'm pretty sure Dart Zone only use ball rounds just to make the tube-magazine part of the blaster work.
I dont really fully get the idea of styling a blaster after a shotgun but then giving it a fairly small on board capacity and having it only fire one at a time. Doesnt seem super efficient. Though doesnt seem too tough to reload on the fly at least
A theory is that they might be trying to reach markets with stricter laws against blasters which shoot stronger. Zuru Xshot Chaos blasters are available in the Philippines at a slight mark-up.
You can also just push the rival dart into the chamber in the Kronos, and then put another rival dart into the main loading thing in the Kronos to shotgun load it.
@5:42 people comment that you don't count your ammo so you did count this time, but you then shoot one blank to irritate them just for the lels 😂😂 *dat smile tho*
I don't see how you can complain about the grip safety when you're a flywheel guy who should be used to rev triggers. You need to push a second switch on those too you know. Sure, having a grip safety is unnecessary, but it shouldn't really annoy you or be uncomfortable to use. I'm just happy that finally somebody implemented a tube-fed loading system on a shotgun style blaster. Maybe not a true shotgun, but screw it, it works.
Sentry is weak 60/70fps until you upgrade it with a Kronos spring or K25/26 spring and remove the air restrictor. However a upgraded Sentry is a great secondary.
Your link to walmart says they're (liberator) out of stock, and for once, i can't find the liberator on ebay either. have these been released to US public yet? also, wish you'd fire outside and use measuring tape or something to give us distance, instead of firing at your door inside the house. just a suggestion for a little more thorough review. also, surprised you didnt mention the air warriors 'monorail' as its a pump sawed off shotgun that fires standard darts, looks about the same.
It has been released in the US around mid summer. It's still a Walmart.com exclusive and hasn't been restocked. Rumors say they might restock in the future but nothing definitive.
In order to have a modded, select-fire stryfr, couldn’t you take the select-fire mechanism out of the regulator and put it in a stryfe? I’m making this comment because you mentioned in the most recent scorpion evo mod video that you wouldn’t use the select-fire kit
If you take the air restrictors out they fire really well, and it takes just two screws to remove the loading door on the sentry. These blasters are great for moding. But yes, stock they're not that great.

How did you get the liberator?i’ve been looking for one forever and it always says that it’s out of stock
Sentry is weak 60/70fps until you upgrade it with a Kronos spring or K25/26 spring and remove the air restrictor. However a upgraded Sentry is a great secondary.
It makes me happy to see you uploading more
Bad day coop772 uploads not sad now
So budget budget rival blasters,nice
Libirator is the model 680 with no stock
i had big problems with the liberator. The pump action part would get stuck all the time
Was it just me or was the yellow Nerf balls shot slower than the orange ones in the firing demo?
Like, WAY slower?
Are you gonna make a review on the Dartzone Pro Mk. 1?
Any idea how to fix the short dart gun ? My son took it out all apart and I’m trying to put it back together
3:31 almost sounds like you're pulling back the pump handle on a real shotgun. I don't know, it just sounds so much more "metallic" to me.
I've really wanted a Rival tube mag shotgun style blaster for a long time. Sad to see that this doesn't work so well.
In order to have a modded, select-fire stryfr, couldn’t you take the select-fire mechanism out of the regulator and put it in a stryfe? I’m making this comment because you mentioned in the most recent scorpion evo mod video that you wouldn’t use the select-fire kit
