Thank you Peter! Good luck with your install and review, don’t forget to use magnetic torx screwdrivers (something I didn’t mention in the video) the screws are all set back and kind of hard to reach with big hands. Other than that it’s a fairly simple project. Thanks!
@@wcj_ink, I finished the install and ran into a few bolts you forgot to mention. LOL. It's OK my friend because you gave me enough information to successfully complete this project. Thank you! BTW, did your gongs, warning sounds, turn signals stop working after? From what I read, these don't work because it's all tied to the OEM headunit. Also...were you able to get the USB cables to work ok from the Android unit?

When you removed the old unit. Did you plug in every wire into the new unit? I also have a new unit and can’t figure out what two of the old cables purpose was. There’s the antenna cable, BUS cable, then the big cable with stuff. But what are the two other cables. One is pink on the end.
@@wcj_ink unfortunately mine did not. But I believe I figured out what those cables are. In this process I can’t seem to get my existing usb and aux ports to work. We’re you able to get yours to work or did you end up putting a new usb port in the car? Thanks!

Is this a comparable price.. Also does the original CD player play through new unit... Many thanks and well done..

Hello! I own a 2012 Mini Cooper Countryman S as well. Does this item come with all needed wiring, such as GPS and power cable to the touch screen? Like yours, my current speedometer has only one input and I have had no luck with other display screens because there is no power hookup available in my Mini. Thank you!
I’ve recently installed one of these similar model but now my controls for the ac, windows and locking won’t function. All the wires are in place and the car works normally it’s just the buttons below don’t seem to work. Any suggestions please
Im not sure man, the only thing i could think of is maybe you pulled on a wire you were not supposed to pull on and it disconnected your buttons panel because none of the radio wires control any of those car features
Do you have any videos on how the speedometer looks and works, thinking about getting one of this Mini’s but would need to change the head unit to have Apple Carplay. Thanks
I'm in the middle of this on a 2011. I *THINK* I can do it, just need another couple hours. It looks like you didn't disconnect the battery terminals? But, would that be wise? I am guessing so…
I didnt connect the battery terminals because it was a cold day in new england when I installed the unit so i had the heat going in the car 🤣. I would recommend you disconnect the terminals but i had no problem leaving the car on the whole time.
So the bus wire is hooked to a wire clip/holder of some sort somewhere behind the dash. I gave mine a good tug and it came out. I dont recommend you pull it like i did but it was what i did. If i had to do it again i would follow the wires and try to find what is holding them.
@@wcj_ink also I wanted to ask does Apple CarPlay come with this or I can just get any third party dongle to enable wireless CarPlay ? Thanks for the quick response. Cheers
Thanks, I have my unit and will be installing soon and wanted to ask if you connect the brake cable and if so to where? I will be installing a reverse camera so will connect the reverse cable to that. Just not sure about the brake cable. Appreciate your help.

I did not use every wire from the new unit. Your unit should have come with a wire diagram with labels for each wire.

I did not but i never use them so it didn't matter to me to try to make them work

How do you know your speed now?
There's a digital speedometer built in to the radio if you want to use it but i just use the one thats on the steering display

Yes you can turn the reverse audible on/off in settings

@@davlam5313 you will need the dongle. They have the option to buy their dongle when ordering the unit.
