You are all missing the best use of Clip Speed. I use it all the time for making Short's. If ,my video is 70 seconds , Clip speed will make it 55 seconds and eligible for a UA-cam Short. Saves me so much editing time.
It's a nice feature. When I demonstrate processes and need to speed up parts of the video, I also add a tick-tock timer sound over the top and a colour overlay, so there are extra visual and auditory cues to show that I'm racing through.
My Speed Uo Effect used to work in 2018 but with 2022 it distorts my audio so badly I don't use it anymore. Your DEMO shows some cool new ways to speed it up and WHY that's important. I'll reach out to support for help to get it working again. I'm old so speeding it up makes me sound younger and more energetic.
Could you make a video on how to make cuts from a horizontal video to vertical cuts for social networks like tiktok. what would be the dynamics for this?
Great question! Split the section you want to speed up out by making a cut at the starting point and a cut at the ending point and then add Clip Speed just to that section. Then speed it up as shown, and close the gap that you just made by bringing the end normal speed clip over so they are all connected.
Not necessarily 'automatic' but it can produce captions. If you've got your audio in Audiate, then the transcript can be exported into a subtitle file by going to "File -> Export Script" and it will produce an .SRT file that you can then upload to whatever platform you're hosting your video on as a subtitle file.
Man, if ya.'' could just get speed ramping...Love Camtasia, and you are moving in the right direction for a lot of things. Oh, and can you also improve capture options/bit rates and such? Thanks. :)
Yeah, clip speed will adjust your voice. It will be less noticeable if you don't speed up too much. One option is to separate the audio from the clip. Harder to match things up that way - but gives you the most control over your audio.
Been using clip speed for a while and recently it started to distort the sound. It adds a short clicking every few frames so it now make clip speed useless if you have any vocals. Is there a fix for this?? Thanks for you help
You can, BUT you'd have to split the part you want to speed up out of your full video first. Then speed it up, then close the gaps between your (now) shorter sped up clip, and the other part of the video.
It would be awesome if we could change clipspeed with keyframes to create speedramps. Or even reverse a clip with keyframes. Tbh i'm not a big fan of having a separately reversed version of a clip
@@techsmith thank you ❤️ another feature that would be a great addition (for every user) is an option to lower the quality of the video preview to increase the performance while editing. sometimes even with proxy videos you can experience performance issues, but alongside with low quality preview it could be a huge improvement.
@@techsmith in most cases proxy videos are fine. i'm not sure how much of a performance boost a low quality preview would actually provide in camtasia, but to me it seems like in other apps it's quite a lot - and more is always better, right? 😉
@@Core2TOM For sure. Like I said, I've mentioned this to the devs so they can start prioritizing requests and maybe get this in their queue (not sure if that will happen, but since Proxy already exists, it might not be too unrealistic to ask for this). 🤞 Thanks!
What happens to your voice over or music? Does the result just sound like you're talking faster, without any artifacts? Does the music just sound sped up, without changes in pitch? Does the same apply to slowing down a section?
Great question! It will adjust the speed (and pitch) of the audio if you speed it up or slow it down. If you don't want that, you can mute the track or right-click and choose "Separate Video and Audio" before changing the speed.
Great question! Select the section you wish to speed up by making two cuts (one at the start and one at the end of the section). Add Clip Speed to just that middle section. Speed it up as desired, then move the clips together so that there are no blank gaps left over.

Agree. I have the same issue and had better results with earlier versions.
Super Useful to learn about clipspeed! Thanks!
Could you make a video on how to make cuts from a horizontal video to vertical cuts for social networks like tiktok. what would be the dynamics for this?
While we don't have that EXACT video, we do touch on that idea a bit in this video about how to rotate videos: ua-cam.com/video/MyKZ0wPSHtE/v-deo.html
Great Feature. Thanks
Thanks, how does one only apply to part of the video..... e.g to a one minute section in the midddle of a 5 minure video? Thanks

I use clip speed all the time, didn't know you could just drag your clip, I always used the properties panel to change the speed
Same same. This is a great tip!
Is there any way to make captions for videos automatic using camtasia and audiate togheter?

Clip speed is handy on the 60fps clips. Does Camtasia load 120 or 240fps media files to make this effect smoother? For slow motion that is.

Since camera captures video slower than real life (24 fps), what would be a good speed to make closer to real life?

I noticed this as well. Hoping for a fix in an update soon!
@@MichelleBossong I found it coincided with their push to buy Audiate. Hey Camtasia can you weigh I here?
Sorry about this! This issue should be fixed in 2023.1.0, let us know if you run into any problems with that update.
