This was such an incredibly well hosted and well put together piece. Great conversation with great artists who have so much in common and yet are so unique. Would love to watch the unedited, full version of this interview. Thank you UA-cam algorithm for recommending this, as an admirer of standup comedy looking forward to much more great content like this on this channel.
I feel vir doesn’t get enough appreciation for legit making Indian comedy scene a thing, he brought in focus what happens to be a comedic community rn, he also had workshops to help amateurs, he legit is responsible for giving India a comedy fraternity.
I don't agree to that. Yes, Vir made a significantly huge impact on stand up in India but India had comedians even before Vir who were killing it back then.
Vir Das is such an inspiration! Honestly he doesn't get the appreciation he deserves and not only him all the comics here are great. Thank you for this!
Great one. Vir, Rohan and Upmanyu are really educated and knows what to talk about. Should have included Azeem Banatwala in this conversation. 1- He's been in the industry for a decade 2- Would have loved to listen his opinion in these topics because his pov would have been really different
40:00-45:00 whilst you all have acknowledged the privilege, please stand up united for Munawar Faruqui. Please speak out and get the man his freedom. He is one among you people. He needs your help. Please please please be there for him.
They are doing that. They are the reason we even know of the arrest as they are the ones spreading the word and making people aware about what they are facing. They also must be trying their best to help him as well like Karthik said about standing by Kamra no matter what. As a community, theirs is I think the most wholesome you can get and as close knit as possible in a field where every comedian needs to shine in their own as well.
@@NeptuneFan12 Kamra was already a pretty famous guy by the time he faced flak for his actions and we knew what the nature of his alleged crime was as it was out in public. We do not know what the real case is with Munawar. Even here, there is no mention about the guy. I just hope they’re doing this all by themselves as individuals if not in the public eye or as a collective.
Anish Menon as far as i know , vir Das did speak for munawar on social media . I do not actively follow the other comedians ,so I would not know about that . But vir Das really amplified the issue at his end and is not rebutting on his responsibility .
@@ramnitkaur6817 Happy to hear this. I haven’t watched the latest releases on his UA-cam channel but he always has been a voice of reason. I know a few in this mix who haven’t explicitly spoken about the issue in public and it’s completely fine as long as they do it as individuals who demand justice in their own rights even if it’s behind closed doors. I was just disturbed by the news and so put up this comment as it was the first thing that came into my mind after watching the video
I loved how smoothly the interviewer kept the pace throughout. All the questions as well as each other's journey was put one by one so that everything falls into place one at a time. All of that over video conference, gotta give props to the host. Amazing work 👍🔥
Such a well anchored discussion. When I clicked on the video and saw that it's an hour long interview, I was sure I won't be able to finish it in one go and would have to see it in episodes, but the hour just flew! Thoroughly enjoyed listening to everyone. Also, how charming is Rohan Joshi! Whenever he speaks, it's like you have to listen attentively.
Honestly one of the best i loved the questions because the things which were not openly talked about were just in open and talked with a natural flow also it was the line comedians care about laugh more than the issue thats what they are !!! yes they choose to talk about the issue but thats their personal choice and also making an issue humorous makes it more easy to talk about and find the solution to it....just hearts❤️
I'm genuinely surprised at the number of views on this. What a great watch it was! I loved the candid insight and this is possibly the most professionally hosted panel I've watched. Great job! Would be great to watch more of these, possibly with Aditi Mittal, Jeeya Sethi, Kaneez, Shreeja, KV, Rahul Subramaniam, Munawar, Vipul, and Karunesh Talwar.
❤️ this. All of these comedians. Rojo talking about the pirates dvds of the roast! Yeah! Vir calling out the biggies in the roast! Also, Karthik supporting Kk 👍🏽
Shit I didn't know that Vir Das had a huge role in bringing up Tanmay Rojo etc! And I didn't know about Evam...I always wondered "Ay how did this Avengers Assemble thing happen that soo many crazy talented people came together out of nowhere just when I needed them"...Just as Vir said there were many before him too...it's just that now due to the OG people before this created and brought such people together...and especially Vir had a Vision to build the scene...and then UA-cam and internet taking over... everything fell into place and created the audience for the coming generations to use... And also Loved the Format in which you were introducing each one of them with their own Timelines...sort of giving aise multiverse vibes like different arcs happening in different places and then this whole audience forms...it was beautiful Thank you❤️🙏
Say whatever, they had networks or not It takes pure talent and lots of balls to do a show like Knockout and pull it out in a country like India with mainstream Indian celebrities Fuck aib gained my Respect that day 🔥
What I Think is all standup comedians should come together And form something like Bollywood of Comedy as a proper industry to serve the world not just the Indian population. That will be huge in the entertainment industry.
this was so fun to watch! even on a work day! for me this industry just grew with the millenials and its the same age as us, so its really fun to listen to them and relate on a personal level. Also love Vir, adore Upmanyu, I ducking purple Rohan and I idolise Neeti and Anu! Karthik was new to me Im sorry but he was refreshing to watch and get to know! So thank you for this Ravina :)
Karthik was talking about energy and you can actually see in the video, his energy is way above rest of the people. He was very physically active in the video
This is one of the most authentic interviews I've seen. Kudos to every stand up standing out of their persona and sharing their true experiences. Also, loved the host keeping the energy and the flow of the interview intact. Waiting for more.
This was a great panel and it was a genuine interview. The host didn't mince words and the panelists also had some really great insights. One more thing is that all of them are great, but Vir is a cut above the rest!
I loved when karthik kumar took strong stand for KAMRA nd rest of them agreed along ...loved it 💯...though the comedians should have taken even stronger stand nd still could for MUNAWAR too!!
I think mainly all comedians are supported to him, I know vir say one of his latest show that how comedians go jail for making one Joke 🤷 Idk about others but they all are looks like they support him.

42:29 I like these kinds of conversations, where things are discussed in detail and people's points of view are expressed clearly to understand their mindset and context on how and what they do. All of these 1st generation stand-up comics are highly privileged. All of Bollywood is highly privileged. They are the primary entertainment and they set the tone for certain narratives. In a democracy, where we are economically weak and extremely weak in international political standing, the entire population has been made to feel inferior for the last few hundred years by design, in order to conquer the region. As artists, it is their responsibility to set narratives that uplift people's morale, encourage them, and showcase positives. The entertainment industries are not doing that. They always say that it's not their responsibility because, in a democracy, nothing is anyone's responsibility and everything is everyone's responsibility. When such industries are targeted for certain works, instead of just blaming, they should introspect more and work harder to create content that uplifts our society. To be precise in my msg: Just like in cricket, it's stupidity to judge, comment, and criticize Sachin for every single ball or over. It's the same kind of stupidity when politicians are judged for every little thing. Always focus on overall performance, historical data, and analysis-think about the greater good. With great power comes great responsibility, and this is true for every famous entertainer. People build narratives through what you say and do.
This was such an incredibly well hosted and well put together piece.
