In Sri Lanka there is a competition called "lissana gaha nageema" which means climbing a greasy pole/tree. This is a traditional game played during Sinhala and Tamil New year festivals. It's so fun to watch. I didn't know that for pole or tree climbing people used ropes on their hips.The coconut tree climbers here use ropes on their feet. Some don't use rope at all.

At this angle it didnt look like the guy on the right was going as high as the guy on the left. So that is why he was able to match his landing. Just what it looked like to me.
