Thank you soooo much. Joined your newsletter and bookmarked your web page. I used DK weight and 4mm hook and it came out beautifully. I am going to make a table scarf with the squares . Practicing this method. I really like your designs. I hope to practice this technique with your designs so that I can work up my confidence to do your turtle afghan.
Thank you so much Ashlee. I have been wanting to do mosaic crochet center out for ages and I couldn't get that last stitch right. Now I have it. That you so much.
This may be a dumb question? When starting any of these mosaic center-out sqaures, is 8 the magic number that is usually used? I thought I knew how to read a chart, but I only would have guessed a magic ring of 4. Do the other 4 stitches get assumed as "border stitch" corners? So they are not pictured in charts?
I'm not really familiar with how other designers do it but I use 8 because of how many stitches I need to work into on the next round. 1 for each side and 1 for each corner (where 2 stitches go into). I believe I have seen a tutorial where they started with hdc or dc and they used a different amount of stitches but I can't remember who that was
Yes, I know there's a point when you can't see it. It was a mistake. Perhaps you'd like to try this video instead, until you're confident in how to do the corners: ua-cam.com/video/NunsCkH1Dr8/v-deo.html
I'm so sorry about that. You're not the only one that has had that problem. I added the chart at the last minute and my quick check didn't see that problem before I uploaded it. This video also shows the corners (on a different pattern): ua-cam.com/video/NunsCkH1Dr8/v-deo.html
Thanks for the tutorial but lots of time we couldn’t see what you are doing, your work is in the graph in the corner it you work is at the bottom and too low can’t see what your doing
Hi Ashlee I've watched a few centre out videos and yours is by far the best. Yes the graph covers round 4 but your explanation is fantastic!! Thank you so much!!😊
@@AshleeBrotzellDesigns the dc corners get 4dc in previous front loop right? I made a blanket that had many dc corners, and it looked good but asking you to make sure I did it ok. Thanks.
@1861gemini in this pattern every dc corner also has a dc for the first and last stitch of the side, so yes 4 dc go into the same stitch. I have other center-out patterns (such as the Celtic Knots) where the side of the square may not start and end with a dc even though there is a dcC
Yes, I know. It has been pointed out many times. The chart was a last minute addition that I shouldn't have added. You can see double crochet corners at other points in the video or on my other videos.
Hello! Thank you for your comment. I think there might be a translation issue, I am not entirely sure which pattern you're referencing. I draw all my patterns myself and you can find the complete list of my patterns at ashleeslint.com/patterns or you can check out my ravelry store because the pictures make it easier to see what each pattern is: ravelry.com/designers/ashlee-brotzell
Hi Ashlee, glad I saw your video and realised I was doing dc corner right🥰 On round 4 its hard to see because of the graph top right corner. Thank you.
Hi Ashlee, I’m new to your channel. I wondered what yarns do you prefer working with? Love your patterns. Love mosaic too! Not too sure about interlocking as yet. Thanks for your videos 💜
Hello! I'm so glad you like my patterns ☺️ Most of the yarn I have used is leftover acrylic scraps I've been given. I really enjoyed using new acrylic because before that I hadn't realized there could be soft, bouncy yarn like that 🤣 and then when I was sent merino wool (that KnitPicks Twill is used in the cover photo for this video) well I definitely fell in love! These last two years have been such a journey of exploration. I don't think i can say i have a preferred yarn yet except that i prefer new yarn and I usually am drawn to the bright colors!
I know. I'm sorry. I added the chart image at the last minute and wish I hadn't. If there's a specific stitch you're having trouble with I can help you troubleshoot?
I only wish I could see where you're putting all your stitches. The box in the corner showing the pattern is right in the way. Is there a way to move it off the screen?
I know, poor last-minute addition on my part. So sorry about that! This video also shows all the types of stitches: ua-cam.com/video/NunsCkH1Dr8/v-deo.html
Hello I hope you are having a good day and weather is nice where you are. Your pattern is lovely but your hands go behind your drawing of pattern so I can't see what your hands are doing in corner
Yes, I realized that the chart covered things up a few months after it was posted 🥴🤦♀️ If there is a specific stitch you are having trouble with I can help!
I do have a tutorial on doing anchored stitches: ashleeslint.com/2021/07/06/mosaic-locked-double-crochet/ However, anchoring stitches does affect the drape of your finished fabric (it is a bit stiffer) and some people find it drastically shortens the project (because each stitch is being pulled down a bit). I also don't mind the flaps on the back, I think it looks just as nice :) so my preference is not to lock each stitch in. I love how there are so many options though, everyone can find what works for them! ❤️
Most people use the anchoring to stop the "floppies" ❤️ I don't like the floppy corners lol There are a few ways to do it! Pros and cons of each method. Maybe someday I should make a video comparing the methods

What a wonderful goal and plan of attack! I'm so glad you liked this square ❤️ Thanks for the support!

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I was desperate to understand a chart for a center-out mosaic crochet. Because of you, I can... :)
🤩 fabulous to hear!

I like this tutorial, I just can't see the corners very well because it disappeared behind the picture of the patroon

I'm sorry, chart is blocking row 4. Google translate isn't very well, so I find it most difficult to follow the corners
I'm so sorry about that. You're not the only one that has had that problem. I added the chart at the last minute and my quick check didn't see that problem before I uploaded it. This video also shows the corners (on a different pattern): ua-cam.com/video/NunsCkH1Dr8/v-deo.html

Where on Ravelry can I find the free pattern to this tutorial please?

Kedves Aslee. Nagyon jól magyarázol. Sajnos kíván takarva a negyedik kör, nem értem mi történik 😢
you blocked the whole dc corner, couldn't see where you put the 4th dc

hi, I really liked your plaid with leaves. Did you draw up the scheme yourself? can I draw it from your finished plaid?

The graphic in top right corner covers up your hands and the crochet piece. Any way that can be moved to bottom left?

I hope it helps you make something beautiful 🥰
Thank you for this tutorial. It really helped me a lot. Thank you
I'm so glad to hear that!
I found your demo by far the easiest one to follow for mosaic crotchet in the round thank you 😊
Thank you! 🥰
If you do the anchor stitch for the double crochets it makes the counting a little easier and the back of your work will look a lot neater as well
