Treatment of veterans by ATT is appalling
In April I went to my local AT&T store to add a phone. A sign there said get your military discount so I applied and they photocopied my DD214 (former USMC). I was told it would take a few billing cycles to kick in.
Called AT&T today (late September) to see why it has not taken affect. Was told there was no indication on my account that I ever applied for discount. Was told to go back to the store, reapply and have the rep verify to me that it was actually applied.
Went back to the store. When I walked in and stated my problem the rep clearly remembered me and said "Yes, I took a picture of your document with my iPad" (this is important). When I asked why the discount had not been applied I was told at the store they had no idea, or that it may have been denied for some reason. I explained that I called AT&T and before I could finish they stated "Those people you call are overseas and don't have all the information". Well clearly the the local store does not either. I was AGAIN told it would take 1 to 3 billing cycles cycles before it would take effect. I asked if my application could be back dated to April when I first applied. "I'm sorry sir, but I don't remember you coming in so I can't do that". HE JUST SAID TWO MINUTES BEFORE HE REMEMBERED ME. I leave before I go Marine on them.
I call AT&T again. THIS TIME I'm told it was denied because I'm on some sort of "grandfathered plan". EVERY TIME I CALL IT'S A DIFFERENT STORY! The rep said I needed to move to a different plan to qualify.
I'M DONE! No more AT&T. I'm looking elsewhere. A sign OFFERING ME a veteran's discount turns into a complete fiasco. I feel as if the whole thing was done to get me to move plans for whatever reason.
I hope someone at AT&T that can actually make a difference reads this. I'll be sure to let all my veteran buddies to avoid AT&T and the cluster-f!@& they put me through.
    Thanks for nothing.
