I used to work for Air Malta, the aircraft you flew on have been removed from Air Malta's fleet and replaced it with Airbus Neo (2 for sure). The baggage restrictions on Air Malta depends really, most ground crew would allow 1/2 extra kilos but not more. They are being super careful on hand luggage nowadays so just make sure that it does not exceed 10KG and is not larger than the dimensions. The food service has since changed, all food in Economy class must be purchased and they offer meal deals for 10euros. Hope this will help others interested in flying to Malta :)

I flew with air malta last April and my experiance was exactly the same, except the cabin crew, those were nice and polite. Also, I participated in their "Find the knight and win a flight" contest in the inflight magazine and I'm still waiting for a reply... Good and honest review, I have to say!

Although they have a new plane (A320 NEO) in the fleet, a lot of people complain on there Facebook page.
About the delays, cancellations and very poor service! the number of complaints is increasing every day.
If they carry on this way there will be no Air Malta in the near future. People are already threatening flying aother airline there next flight.
I dont agree with you...delays depend on many factors such as bad weather, or delay from another Airport...Airmalta is one of the biggest Airline in EU...thank you..
Fully agreed. AM had better save themselves. Sometimes a disaster. Look at passenger opinions on skytrax. Some planes are awful. the NEO doesnt have bery good legroom and ther 9H-AHS aircraft has DISASTROUS legroom, dont fly on that plane if you are even just six foot or a bit less.

Really liked u'r video. U kept it rolling along & interesting to watch! Well done. Looks like our Air Malta needs some new seats! It's been in some financial bother (because of cheaper air lines) so had to make cuts backs so they could hang on..thats where the soggy roll comes in I guess!! (I remember very ñice meals) Hope u had a nice hoilday. Of course right now we are dealing with the coronavirus..we are just at the beginning of the carve (We are behind Italy & the uk & that's what might save us at the end of the day...as the government looked at what was going down in Italy.. than the UK (but especially italy) & they got a grip) we are looking every single day at how many infected people they have found today...its going up steadily (yesterday was the first double digits) we are all very nervous about how much we will suffer on our tiny little Island's. At least we've got the sunny sky's to help us feel more optimistic (sunny sky's always helps right!) Love from malta😎

Air Malta is a shadow of what it was. Their product needs to be improved; better seating, IFE, proper business class seats ..... Learn from the Mid East and Asian carriers .... I'm Maltese and want them to be the best in Europe ....

A couple of years ago Air Malta has had a really good inflight service with always the choice of two warm meals, which had a good quality, and a large choice of various drinks. Even the coffee they offered was perfect. Then they announced a change in their inflight service and so the sad story began. I was surprised about the gap between the seats. When flying Air Malta and you are coming into the cabin and see the gap between the seats you are sure it doesn’t fit. It is that close, that the passenger in front of you can feel your knees the whole time.
The crew was very nice before they decided to change everything at Air Malta. Nowadays they are neither friendly nor helpful.
I don’t understand Air Malta’s policy regarding how to survive in the international market. They are the flag carrier of the Maltese Islands and the first thing guests are seeing from Malta. It’s a disaster.
@samy travels, could you try and get a business class seat from Perth to London nonstop. Thx
They don't provide anything for free now. If you want water or a snack you have to buy it from the flight attendants. Otherwise, purchase it before boarding (after security check-in). There is no bezzun lol.
Air Malta has gone down hill big time since Malta join the EU it has really been struggling, this is mainly due to the influx of budget airlines now flying into Malta that being Ryan Air and there is nothing the Maltese government can do about it due to EU rules allowing pretty much any EU airline to fly anywhere within the EU without restrictions.

yes im from malta and they always have delays. I went from Moscow to malta and there was a delay. same thing happened to my grandma when she came.
Once again, thanks for posting this, Samy. For my part, your reporting seems fair. And while I've never flown Air Malta, I understand that, once upon a time, their in-flight service was much better than what you had (for example, hot meals - complete with a small bottle of wine - served to economy passengers). Sad, but then, why should Air Malta be exempt from the same kind of cost-cutting measures so many other airlines have been forced into implementing?

Andzi Convox well the flight was good but it was 1 hour 40 minutes late, I checked flight tracker and it’s been late leaving Gatwick every day so far this month. Not good ! I don’t mind late leaving Malta but when you have only a few days it’s important to get there on time, IMO !
When I flew airmalta to LGW it was not exactly the same.There was spot oflegroom and no delays.
Maybe some new interior will bring the airline give more luxury...

Hello brother. Just wondering how strict are Air Malta with weight when it comes to checked baggage and carry on baggage ?
With checked baggage that goes into the planes belly I have 23 kilos. Most other airlines close their eyes if you're 1 or 2 kilos over but is air Malta very strict on this?
And do they bother to weigh your carry-on baggage because with this I have 10 kilograms?
Gary Haber Hello Gary, thanks for watching! On this specific flight with Air Malta I don’t recall any severe or strict measurements with the bagage. My hand bags were not weighed. But after all it all depends on the check in agent, so I’d still try and follow the exact procedure when it comes to the bags. Have a nice flight !

What I mean is that some words included in your caption are sarcastic e.g. "very old looking seats", "unhygienic". As you said this is a small airline company. I've used Lufthansa too often and I can assure you that I was never impressed with their service even though they are a much stronger airline than Air Malta.
Kenneth Grima I’m not being “sarcastic” in any way here. The seats were old looking and made the cabin look unhygienic. No matter what airline it is, that’s a fact.
