It is so amazing that the stories of Rycon have been a part of my life for 8 years now. I remember that Noah's Tale is even what got me into Cataclysm. I forget which episode it was, but Noah was trying to get some sleep in her car while in the middle of a field, after hearing a noise she turns on the lights to see that the car is surrounded by a horde! I have been hooked ever since. My head cannon is that Noah survived the acid burns and carried on into legend like a Joshua Graham/ the Burned man from Fallout: New Vegas lol.
I miss Bran's Cyborg gameplay. I can still remember how I was in my early years of Highschool when that came out. I especially enjoyed the thumbnail artwork for the playthrough as over time you could see the progression of his cybernetics.
Just wanna say Innawoods is probably my favorite series, I always figured it was just another world connected to a world designed to test the spirit and ingenuity of others. either case..... I loved the growth, just wish there was more a balance of creatures to fight other than easily killed or OMGWTF gonna die dinosaurs lol. Your universe feels very asimovy where it wasn't originally ment to all be together but fits together suprisingly well. Honestly Bran was great and part of me wishes there was a way to "controll" the mutations better. I like the new ice colony series as well, but the basics of the survival need just a little more to balance it out I think. Recap was most welcome. For example, it flew over my head, that Hilma ended up being related to twins(robust genetics, huh). Started watching your content back at Dusk's season two, however did also return back for Bran. Going further was always a bit complicated. Vision system without memory makes watching expirience rather hard during nights, labs and other low visibility environments. So it was pleasant to see abridged look into series history.
"For you, it was the day your life changed forever. For me, it was a Tuesday." - Bran, to the survivors when they find out he's the reason the universes are entangled like so much spaghetti.
Sure you 'could' just jump into the latest series, but why would you want to? All amazing series from an amazing creator. Love watching from the beginning every so often to see how far you and the game have come.
The most impressive and my favorite part about your Cataclysm series' is how you can mix cdda's unpredictable gameplay with your own storytelling so seamlessly. It's very enjoyable to watch.
Ok, that clarifies some things ... Personally, Dusk hasn't hooked me & I have just been watching Aftershock. But I also started watching these with the survivor series, and am accustomed to slice of life survivors instead of meta plot survivors. The fact that it is a singular narrative that has been ongoing for nearly a decade, sheds some light on why it gets more uploads and views.
Rycon, i've been here since Bran, always trying to keep up with everything i could, watching most of the series in the channel. we can see your dedication to such a project, that this is more than just playing game, it's about telling a story. Thank you for this recap! I’ve watched all of this - from Dusk season 2 live and have greatly enjoyed it all. For those new to the Ryconverse some of these characters have been taken to other games with equally compelling results - so no need to limit your viewing to CDDA to enjoy time with these fascinating creations.
Iv loved the universe so far. Went back and watched a ton after i subbed. Mr wood has even made a appearance as a lovecraftian threat in a fallout tabletop i ran.
I think I started watching about when Luna’s tale began. It has been a great ride. I do want to say I tend to picture the visuals that go with the narration like a mobile and slightly messier version of hellboy illustration.
I enjoy listening to Rycon videos on the way to work and while going to sleep. It is effortless to imagine and visualize the events and environments due to his great narration. Amazing work, wonderful displays of creativity and skill! Currently it is also very easy to delve deep within the roleplay while listening to Aftershock; last week we had -34C outside :D (Had to ditch my wheelbarrow while going to work)
Hey, just wanted to say I’ve loved your channel for years and cdda has always been some of my favourite content from you. Thank you so much for all the years of entertainment, it’s so cool to finally see Dusk & Elliot together. Your style of storytelling and narration has heavily inspired me in my ttrpg writing and narration. So once again, thank you so much, and I hope you have an awesome day.
Legionnaires! That is the word I've never understood. I've been hearing for months on your videos and decided I wasn't going to search for it (I thought one day I would understand it) I don't know.. Looking at you saying, it became clear and obvious. Great job man. I really like how you commit to the most awesome part of CDDA: randomness. It's great seeing a random character become a legend. Not like others where they have the Chad min/max template of the character and just put the same guy in different scenarios. Keep up the good work.
Aw, no mention of Grass and Dirt... Also, a rundown of the tie-ins to non CDDA series as the characters were exported to other worlds would have been cool. Echoes of them spreading out, across the multiverse.
A great story and a great universe. Someday there will be a good ending without the death of any character, but it will happen later, not immediately. Our characters are still being closely watched by observers. And it is the observers who will decide which character will be worthy of life.
I absolutely love all your videos and always look forward to watching them no matter what it is but my personal favourite was your Kenshi play through, that was amazing in fact so amazing I’ve watched it three times from start to finish
Wow! A couple of times I thought about that video. I watched a couple of episodes of all series, but not all of them. I subscribed on Hilma's series. So I got some understanding of others, but that explanation - it is what i needed!
For real think about doing videos like this for your other roleplay series in Skyrim or Fallout. This was a great idea and your other tales warrant the same treatment I'd say
Not gonna lie, the entire series are great and I listened/watched through most of them. Both voice wise (you do have a great voice) and storytelling wise. As in - it does touch game mechanics but also the story, not going overly much into each of those parts, making it somewhat lacking, as it tends with most creators. It's just that specific sweet spot, I guess. Bran's tale was the part which made me want to check Cataclysm for myself though, and it's a great experience. Frankly I think your narration and style works great for playthroughs, especially like that (maybe I'm biased because I do like your CDDA videos a lot but w/e). I do wish you to have good health, luck and just to have everything going amazingly swell, and Thank You!
P.S. I do like your series when they attend to a sole person. I don't have anything against multiple npcs catering to the main character, but I do think, that It a setting where... things depend on too many variables, depending on the AI can lead to a somewhat lacking experience. I'm eager to check out Your new series on Dusk, but now being "plagued" by knowledge of CDDA mechanics, I do find myself less eager to do so. P.P.S. However I encourage you to keep doing what you like! Your series are great and narration is top-notch! I bet a lot could be even a great Audiobook! I do say so, because a lot of books these days tend to just focus on the protagonist doing "heroic stuff" 24/7 but with CDDA being a sort of simulation, it does force a character to also "tell" about their hardship of everyday life, from getting a grand meal (through a lot of hardship) or just a snack (with how such a diet can affect them in the long run or even in the next day!) tells a lot, lot more then just a regular "sat and ate" which most authors tend to do nowevr'days. Frankly, I wouldn't hesitate to pick a book about Bran, If there would ever be one (despite me currently residing in Rusland, which has it's own issues at the moment, but w/e) and read/listen to it till the end, even if it would end on a sort of a cliff hanger. And by a cliff hanger I do mean... you know, their semi-robotic nature at this point. "SELF PRESERVATION" and all that? Hehe-he! I do hope to see Bran eventually once again. Perhaps not in their best shape, maybe with their lost limb (or two!), but with their sentient mind unable to withstand the pain, his more... advanced! or maybe his own natural preservation knowledge, deep within him, now melded with machine coded algorithms, pulling his frame from sight of that deadly turret and bringing his carcass, still baring some sort of life, even if not completely "human" to the autodoc/robotic nurse to patch him up, to sustain his being to the state, which algorithms feel decent enough for "living"and ot revive him, on that bed, of that facility, malnourished and weak, with just the necessity provided by the surrounding tech to keep his... or... their state as Living. P.P.P.S. But then again, I just really admire Your work on All of the series, and I don't encourage you on this particular one. It's just that while I do favor action, I do favor it with mixes of real life struggles which a character can have when they have a more concrete understanding of the world.
Proud to say I've been watching these series since Elliot's Tale. Seeing this whole thing grow and expand into an entire universe is just so, so fun. You're an amazing storyteller, man! Your ability to weave seemingly random things together into a cohesive meta-narrative that effects the journey of every character is so, so clever.
Hehe, you said 'lupine' instead of 'lycan'. Who knew that Luna was really a bunny girl? Jokes aside, it was a pleasure starting this journey with you, Rycon. You was the one who convinced me to give CDDA a try and I'd never regretted it since. Luna's story was the first series I'd watched.
That was incredible. What came from the pen of Rycon. An entire era has passed. And although I did not join these stories right away, not from the very beginning. And just a couple of years ago. But damn. I felt like I had aged ten years. It was more than just a game. Reading the comments, how many people followed and listened to these stories. Everyone also had their own stories. This inspired someone (including me) to try the cataclysm themselves (And also draw, and also write different stories) And the emotions that the pixels were able to create... No... Rycon. Simply priceless. Thank you for creating atmosphere in this universe... or multiverse... Or where are we now? (In a sandwich :D) Oh, if the whole story unfolds at insane speeds, with narration, connections between each other. And this despite the fact that any viewer can recreate anyone (including the main characters and minor ones. Alive or not) of those who were in the Rycon stories. I still have in my pocket a fully recreated giant mutant berserker Tyranasaurus Lakendra "Darkness" Byrd. Helma's companion On the Dusk world preset, season 3. There’s no way they’ll get around to sitting down and spending time with her (a fleabag with asthma, a very fast metabolism and a carnivore... Everything in your pocket! Or in your mouth) I also saw in the comments thoughts about continuing the story from the next generations... Helm’s mother was just the beginning... We are waiting for Helm’s grandmother :D Well, or some other family connection of some other characters. Friendly cataclysmic family. Who knows. Almost endless space for imagination. However, I will patiently wait for one of the heroes in Rycon stories to one day become a god. Bran was incredibly close. God machine! OMG! Need more power. Anyway... I got distracted again. Thank you for what you do Rycon, I wish you further prosperity and development in your activities... Storyteller or... I don’t know what to call it. UA-cam dnd master :D
I loved that one series - I believe it was one of the very short ones - where you started a base in a fresh water research station. Coolest and probably most secure base you can have. Oh and the challenging starts, like in a prison or a research lab with the mutations. The first few episodes where you are weak without equipment, in a very dangerous environment or labyrinth, those are exciting enough to get me to watch your entire seasons. Your CDDA series are amazing to watch. You know how to spin a good story with lots of love for details and your comunity. Thank you for the awesome entertainment
So 'The Watchers' are definitely separate from the XEDRA crew, then. Which means that's probably The Watchers dumping people into the Aftershock Exoplanet, assuming that's not just the fallout from the cascade that Bran triggered. Maybe we'll find out eventually. Thank you for the vid! (Also, I realize now I've never seen Noah's series before. I need to correct that.)
Thanks for this, this video and also your Cataclysm videos in general. You do things I don't have the patience to accomplish in Cataclysm, I always either feel stagnant or annoyed at some point and stop playing, and I have save scum disease.
omg rycons face :0 Cdda recap and my best and the first video that i watched you was with the blond hair girl from innawoods i started from episode one and got hooked till the very end. :D helda/helna? was her name i think? i kinda forgot. i remember the most horrifying episode where she was crippled badly in the open by a moose? or something... that was terrifying to watch.
I really just think it'd be sick if Rycon used say a system like GURPS to stat out one of these characters and perhaps do a one on one game where he plays a snapshot of that character's life, would really make the story and world feel more interactive and responsive.
Your worldbuilding and character creation are amazing! For the interconnection between all of the characters and storylines, do those ideas come up naturally through your playthroughs, or do you generally have a broad idea of what will influence or be influenced by other characters?
Hello, love all the series I've seen and appreciate the recap! I was just thinking about a rumor that prototype cyborgs can be healed/fixed and recruited. I don't know if it is at all possible or if you would have to do some behind-the-scenes magic in order for it to happen... But, what if the Twins found a certain version of an early stages cyborg Bran, who had "lost his mind in the machine." And brought him back. Perhaps connected in some way to the Twins through the Resonance? (Explaining how you would swap between him and them if you wanted.) Bringing the trio together in an intriguing and unexpected way. Because I think this series has the makings of another 100 or if were lucky a 200+ episode series. And it'd be awesome to see how Iron Bran deals with a resource-scarce but magic-infused world with a couple of prime genetic test subjects. Maybe he could even become a technomancer if that is a class. Or perhaps he'd seek to build a super lab at the heart of the group's base in order to make other rescued survivors into Apex humans, or crafting the CBMs he so desperately craves. (Cyborgs, Mutants, Mages, or some combination of the three?) And perhaps a new character could emerge from their experiments? One that takes all their best traits? Or perhaps all their worst? And it's unlikely, but I think Bran and Dusk would make the most adorable babies! (Any age discrepancies can be fixed with Cataclysm shenanigans. I know it might not work like that, but I can dream.) Though imagine actually having to worry about smex, STDs, pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, and the like during that cataclysm; that'd be more brutal than the Rimworld children, for sure.
After some time. Rycon creates a character whose parents were the best of the best of his tens of hundreds of playthroughs, he gains power transferred not only by birth but also by instruction from all knowledge, swings to semi-divine or higher abilities, breaks into another dimension to all types of aliens, gods, observer (He will meet everyone along the way) and inflict such a spatial punch. That everything that exists will be turned upside down 15 more times, and after that. He himself will become a god or an observer (If in the Rycon plot this is not the same thing) and everything will go in cycles. I expect this turn of events. That everything that actually happened led to the cataclysm, that is... All the events in it created it.
Subbed and also started to play cdda around that time when Eliot the wendigo wood was escaping his mighty prison, i miss that tileset ;P really haven't been able to get back into watching your cdda since the survivor short series with the new tileset was too unappealing to me T_T i may watch them at some point, i was otherwise a very religious watcher of your cdda 2nd to none!
I have had to stop at Lun's tale because I'm still watching it and I don't want to know the ending. I've watched Innawood and I'm also watching No Hope.
Hey Rycon are you going to do Bran playthrough in the future? Just thinked that maybe he downloaded his mind somewhere and could take control of cyborg? Maybe prototype or failed one?
So grateful for the recap, because I just don't have enough hours in the day to go back and watch everything (although I'm working on it!). Also, I've zoomed in but still can't make it out: what Neil Gaiman book is on the shelf behind you?
What in the world is that thing on the wall behind your head/chair at the top right corner of the screen? An almost beige/gray fixture of some kind. My brain cannot figure out its purpose. A mount for something?

For those new to the Ryconverse some of these characters have been taken to other games with equally compelling results - so no need to limit your viewing to CDDA to enjoy time with these fascinating creations.
Rycon's Bran series blew me away. Thanks for sharing all the fun over the years.
Iv loved the universe so far. Went back and watched a ton after i subbed. Mr wood has even made a appearance as a lovecraftian threat in a fallout tabletop i ran.
I appreciate this video. I only started watching since Hilma's CDDA series so there's a lot of backstory I didn't know.
I think I started watching about when Luna’s tale began. It has been a great ride. I do want to say I tend to picture the visuals that go with the narration like a mobile and slightly messier version of hellboy illustration.
Lunas' end made me shead a tear, she was doing so well too, I honestly thought she could've competed with the likes of Dusk.
Rycon, your storytelling is an absolute art form.
Thank You!
I enjoy listening to Rycon videos on the way to work and while going to sleep. It is effortless to imagine and visualize the events and environments due to his great narration. Amazing work, wonderful displays of creativity and skill!
Currently it is also very easy to delve deep within the roleplay while listening to Aftershock; last week we had -34C outside :D (Had to ditch my wheelbarrow while going to work)
Ive gotta say Rycon, you have THE best imagination of anyone Ive watched! I love seeing you tell your stories. Thanks so much for being you!
Bran's premise sounds cool af. so tempted to go back and warch that series, but its literally >100 hours long LMAO
Thank you for this! This helps so much for someone who hasn't been here too long. Love your work!
What a great recap! Just discovered your channel, and I'm definitely going back to watch the earlier series!
Hope you enjoy!
Rycon: "Marvel and DC, please hold my beer." >.
Legionnaires! That is the word I've never understood. I've been hearing for months on your videos and decided I wasn't going to search for it (I thought one day I would understand it)
I don't know..
It’s funny that you did a recap since I’ve been watching old episodes of magicalysm and Brans tale 😊
Thank you so much!
Wow! A couple of times I thought about that video. I watched a couple of episodes of all series, but not all of them. I subscribed on Hilma's series. So I got some understanding of others, but that explanation - it is what i needed!
A great storyteller at work! Thank you, Rycon, for bringing us the RCU.
I still can't help but feel a little giddy knowing that the idea that Dusk was made to have mutations 'harvested' came from my suggestion
For real think about doing videos like this for your other roleplay series in Skyrim or Fallout. This was a great idea and your other tales warrant the same treatment I'd say
Crazy. I watched almost all of this over the years XD
looking fly like always Rycon, good to see your doing well.
Also nice collection of the multiple events that have transpired over the years.
This is great! I had no idea it was all connected in a way. Awesome job man, your series helped me learn how to play the game!
Im so happy you ended up doing this im exited you did everyone as well not just dusk and eliot
i've jumped in and out over the years and this catch up was soooo good. thanks
Wow uh this is THE video I didn’t know I needed. Can’t wait to lay back and enjoy after work
Hehe, you said 'lupine' instead of 'lycan'. Who knew that Luna was really a bunny girl?
Jokes aside, it was a pleasure starting this journey with you, Rycon. You was the one who convinced me to give CDDA a try and I'd never regretted it since. Luna's story was the first series I'd watched.
Cool, now I can continue watching the current season and still know the backstory!
(In a sandwich :D)
Oh, if the whole story unfolds at insane speeds, with narration, connections between each other. Or in your mouth)
I also saw in the comments thoughts about continuing the story from the next generations...
Excuse me sir, I’m gonna need all this in a narrated book series. Thank you!
You know Winslow with a SkyIsland series makes some sense.
My favorite content!!! Lore!!!
Best wishes and i look forward to more
Thanks for this, this video and also your Cataclysm videos in general. You do things I don't have the patience to accomplish in Cataclysm, I always either feel stagnant or annoyed at some point and stop playing, and I have save scum disease.
At some point we got to have a big crossover episode where all ryconverse characters are in a series together.
This is the coolest thing ever
I love the part where bran said it's Branning time and braned all over the timeline
I loved your bionic doctor the most.
If erk realises his rimworld style gameplay it would be awesome to see the characters come together ❤️
Great episdoe! Can't believe Bran happened so many years ago... Time flies. And a question: Will we see more hilma? ARK series went quiet...
Is there a mega playlist of the rycon cdda cinematic universe
omg rycons face :0 Cdda recap and my best and the first video that i watched you was with the blond hair girl from innawoods i started from episode one and got hooked till the very end.
BRAN TALE MENTIONED, WHAT THE HELL IS BEING CAREFUL IN LABORATORIES 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Your worldbuilding and character creation are amazing! For the interconnection between all of the characters and storylines, do those ideas come up naturally through your playthroughs, or do you generally have a broad idea of what will influence or be influenced by other characters?
Most of it comes naturally and not from a grand plan. I like to try and find the connections
(Explaining how you would swap between him and them if you wanted.)
Bringing the trio together in an intriguing and unexpected way.
I know it might not work like that, but I can dream.)
Though imagine actually having to worry about smex, STDs, pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, and the like during that cataclysm; that'd be more brutal than the Rimworld children, for sure.
Pour one out for Candy.
I love your story telling
Subbed and also started to play cdda around that time when Eliot the wendigo wood was escaping his mighty prison, i miss that tileset ;P really haven't been able to get back into watching your cdda since the survivor short series with the new tileset was too unappealing to me T_T i may watch them at some point, i was otherwise a very religious watcher of your cdda 2nd to none!
I have had to stop at Lun's tale because I'm still watching it and I don't want to know the ending.
I've watched Innawood and I'm also watching No Hope.
How dare you also be so handsome. You son of a gun. Anything is possible for Rycon! Great video and format. GJ🎉❤
Hey Rycon are you going to do Bran playthrough in the future? Just thinked that maybe he downloaded his mind somewhere and could take control of cyborg? Maybe prototype or failed one?
Siiii pero que come back pliss
So grateful for the recap, because I just don't have enough hours in the day to go back and watch everything (although I'm working on it!).
Also, I've zoomed in but still can't make it out: what Neil Gaiman book is on the shelf behind you?
Oh it's his Norse Mythology one
@@ryconplaysGood choice! 🧡 (Not that there are bad Neil Gaiman choices, really...)
OmG Rycon is a literal gigachad 😮
Commenting for the algo. Great vid!
Please no Snyder Cut of the RyconVerse
Innawood is still my favorite series. It’s the only reason I play. Hopefully zomboid does the same.
wow did not expect such a handsome fellow
I forgot you had a big beard!
Barn mi favorite character
What in the world is that thing on the wall behind your head/chair at the top right corner of the screen? An almost beige/gray fixture of some kind. My brain cannot figure out its purpose. A mount for something?
bring the beard back!
are the short survivor series cannon ?
Yeah they are
Is there a mega Playlist that has all the other Playlist in order
No but the pinned comment lists all of the playlists in order
