  • In this episode of the Lone Star Drift Channel we find Aaron buying a used LS1 V8 240SX S14 drift car, and we need to prep it to go drifting and see how it runs. When you buy a used drift car it can be pretty scary, and dangerous, since the thing could rod knock 5 minutes into the title transfer, the trans could be garbage, there could be so many things that go wrong. And we get emotionally attached to stupid crap that is bad for us, that is how we end up with kids on accident. So please enjoy this simple episode where I buy this silly drift car.

In my experience it's wayyy better and cheaper to just buy a stock car or as close to stock as possible so you're not buying someone else's disaster. For under $20k you can buy a stock c5 and do the basic drift mods yourself and not deal with what Aaron is going through 🤷‍♀️

Drill holes in the suspension bolts and use safety wire or safety pins so that they can’t unthread themselves. I race go karts and that’s what we do 😂

yeah, that is kinda terrifying to think about isn't it? You could blow a lot of money trying to fix stuff if you didn't have the ability to fix it without friends.

I can't believe people use HP Tuners on a car like this when Terminator X's are so cheap. Never again for me lol

@@zmohan69 if you dont have a box (you should so you can do logging etc) it's $600, a wideband is $250-300, a boost controller is $300 well heck you're literally almost there. And you dont have a harness. Plus tuning with hptuners is such a pain in the ass.

multiply this by like 5 LS swapped cars that cycle through fairly often and you start getting an idea of why you might want to use HPtuners lol

Great video! I think buying a used drift car entirely depends on who you're buying it from. I got extremely lucky, didn't know anyone in the drift scene in TX and managed to pick one up from Randall with Dreamers of Drift out of Austin. While yes, I did save some money and work installing good mods (coils, hydro, angle, safety) I'm having to figure out where i'm losing power / chasing electrical gremlins. Granted, the plan was to rebuild & Turbo / LS swap it anyways, but at the end of the day, for what I paid, I felt like It was extremely fair priced. I wanted the true drift missile experience and I definitely got it lmao. Wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world though.

      1. parking lot too small.
      2. Noise limits
      3. They don't want drifters there
      4. Can't touch the grass or you get kicked out of the facility, we normally kick off half the drivers at least whenever we do anything there, as a super controlled, privately invited group.

I can't believe hydro vs cable is a religious manly thing to people lol. I have had tons of cable hand brakes, but I don't want to fuck with them anymore, we drive way too much, and with way too grippy of tires. A cable hand brake isn't going to enjoy a set of 10 psi 285 attached to them.

the yellow stuff pads made this irrelevant. might have already been glazed but they're pretty useless for an ebrake.
the foot brake literally didn't do ANYTHING on the Dyno to the rear wheels, so good luck with your man arms lol
