Hello, I haven't grown Maples before. Are you finding that they naturally grow well in close proximity to the side of your property and away from your building? I have some on the way and I'm thinking about how much space I need for them. I may start with mine in pots.

What I have found is Japanese Maples grow well in shade and moist soil. If they are of small-medium size ones, they are good to be planted next to property as the roots remain small and I happen to have good shade next to the wall. They get good red color if keep in shade. They used to get leaf burn even in partial shade. In my zone 7 garden, with summer temperatures going up to 100, they prefer full shade that saves them from leaf burns and I get good fall show. What JMs are you getting ? If they are 2-3 years old then start in pot for first 2 years and then move them to ground. When in pot, please keep them well watered.

@@dapolimagic Thank you for the reply. Ill think on what you've advised.
I went overboard admittedly looking at websites and probably ordered more than I can plant in the space I have. I enjoyed looking at the galleries so much I got overzealous with my ordering.

      2 gal. Acer Mystic Jewel
      1 gal. Acer Bronze Age
      1 gal. Acer Summer Gold
There are so many more that I liked and wanted. I saw another YT video where he had his garden all potted and it probably inspired me too much lol.
I'm very new at this. Most of the space I have will be in the sun to partial sun. I do have a large old growth tree I could place a smaller potted maple underneath to start. The Yatsabusa I beleve is a dwarf so maybe that one.
I have space in the front of my property but since I plan to pot most of them I'm a little worried a stranger might run off with my maples even though I'm in a safe area. They attract the eye.

Beautiful Is the Fireglow in full sun?

No. It is in partial shade. Gets 1-2 hours of evening sun.

@@Pajuju1 Trick to get color in fall is partial shade plus good watering during hot summer in by zone 7b garden.
