I have owned a 2014 for about six years now and the estimated mileage on mine is also very conservative. It will drop dramatically based on my behavior as not to over promise (which I think is the correct way to go). I don’t need to go on the highway much, but I am never afraid to do it when I have a need to. If you have a long highway commute, yeah I might recommend something different. But I drive mine at high speed for long stretches of highway on a regular basis. After owning one for a while you get a good sense of how far to take it and when it’s time to switch cars with your wife! 😉 I HIGHLY recommend the Fiat 500e as a second car. It can save you a ton of money.
Ignore the range estimator/panic gauge, it's misleading. It is made to go on freeways, just uses more power. I have 82k miles, 80% freeway. Moderate use of AC doesn't affect the range that much, use mostly seat heaters in cold. Watch miles and battery percent.
The estimator updates in live time; assuming the condition of driving will continue. If you are going fast it will say less range. If you are going slow it will say more range. Same with AC: on will show a cut in range, off will show a boost. It is not immediate loss, but projected loss if you drive the same way for rest of drive
You're a life saver thank you so much for the information cause I bought a 2013 Fiat 500e and I notice that it's really not a freeway car. I will turn off the ac in my car here in SFCA and roll down the windows I will try not to play my cd but you've been a huge help cause I'm new to this car . thank you.
Don’t worry about using the cd player, that runs off the 12v battery. AC will consistently drop range by 10 miles. Speed adds wind resistance exponentially. So 60 is something like twice as much energy as 50. And then 70 twice again. It’s a great little commuter car for around town.
