edit: correction on shadow filtering, PCF provides better FPS as seen in the numbers and expect higher vram usage on pcss.

@@JegsTV you should check out his video. It’s very similar, but you guys have slightly different results.
FOV: Increasing FOV lowers FPS, Recommended 93-98.
ADS FOV: Negligible performance impact, recommend on.
Motion Blur: 2-5% impact. Recommend off.
Chromatic Aberration: Recommend off, no impact.
Vignette: Recommend off, no impact.
Texture Quality: VRAM impact. Recommend medium.
Texture Filtering: 9-11% impact. Recommend medium.
Lighting Quality: 10-16% ultra. Recommend medium.
Shadow Filtering: PCF or PCSS. 3-5% difference, PCSS more costly. PCF for sharp shadows. PCSS for softer shadows.
Effects Quality: Recommend high or medium. If many explosions, set to low.
Post process quality: Low.
Mesh Quality: Spot enemies easier far away set to low. Increase More details far away objects set to ultra.
Terrain quality: Minimal impact. Adds depth to game visuals. 3-5% impact. Recommend high.
Undergrowth quality: up to 35% impact. Recommend low.
Anti-aliasing: TAA high looks better, 1-3% impact. Recommend high.
HBAO: impact on how dark shadows are. 2-4% impact. Recommend HBAO.
High-fidelity objects amount: 1-5% depending on situation. Recommend low.
DLSS: Nvidia RTX cards: Quality, best visuals and performance. Recommend for resolutions above 1080p.
Ray Tracing: Huge peformance hit around 30%. Recommend off.
Nvidia Reflex Low Latency: enabled plus boost
Future Frame Rendering: on
Vertical Sync: off
Lighting quality is actually very important. Low lighting quality makes some textures look extremely pixelated and low res, most noticeable on rocks and trees. You can notice it most on the rocks under the ship on Stranded. Turning lighting quality to medium fixes this.

Hey great video. I’m using all your suggestions. Gage looks great and plays better after all those updates.
You can turn off the weapon DOF(makes the weapon blurry while ADS'ing)by going into Documents\Battlefield 2042\settings then open the "PROFSAVE_profile" with notepad then change GstRender.WeaponDOF 1 to GstRender.WeaponDOF 0 then save the file.

Perfect. just the info I was looking for. Running on 4090 with I9, I can run all Ultra with RT on, DLSS Qaulity at around 100fps. But I struggled to see any difference in game between High - Ultra and RT on .

Was testing your sets for my fhd monitor. Need to say that TAA High is blurry for mine, so i prefer TAA Low.
In total, BF2042 needs resolution scale like ib BF4. There i use 150% for having 2880×1620, and this picture, on my 1080p monitor, is sharp as blade, and with no aliassing. It's just perfect🤗

I'm using an AMD RX 6800XT 16GB, (2015 MHz) memory type GDDR6, memory clock 2000 MHz, memory bit rate 16.00 Gbps, total memory B/W 512 GByte/s, AMD Risen 9 5900X 12 core processor with 32 GB RAM. Your settings actually reduced my FPS but improved the latency down to 9ms. I find leaving everything at ultra with Radeon Super Resolution enabled gives me the best FPS, 150-170 with a latency of 10 ms. Still, great video.

Any update on this? I noticed after one of recent updates, game got a little sharper, but the overall performance dropped a little. Also, what settings affect CPU the most?
What about Future frame rendering? I noticed you had it on On. In BFV it really helped but didnt makes a difference in BF 2042 for me.
Ive got my settings fine tuned to my 2070 super and Ryzen 7 3700x quite nicely. Now if the damn map would load 🤦

@@Scandalmiez not really. 13th gen is compatible on 12th gen motherboards.
Post Processing on High turns on Screen Space Reflections, I think it's very important for the visuals, specially in urban areas and when it's raining.
And like in most game, this is not just about making water reflect, but your gun and many other things are constantly reflecting the environment and lights around.

Weapons not showing up people disappearing
Man, nice tests and all, but offline FPS tests are somehow useless with this game. I have constant 144fps* in a coop server, but this drops to 80 and even 65 when playing online and I have no clue why. * i7 9700k / RTX3080
This kind of test is impossible to do online. as other players will constantly hunt you down and some settings need a restart in order for it to take effect.
and further, this isnt a performance test for components, the purpose of the fps shown here was to compare the performance you get between settings. so using offline to test wont matter. as long as the difference of fps per settings are shown the test itself is accurate.
@@JegsTV Sure I get it, but this game is strange when it comes to coop and public modes. I get constant 144fps when I play offline, but as soon as I get on a public server, FPS drops to 80 and even as low as 65 and I have no ideia why. If you have any clue, let me know. Cheers.
@@gdreyer whats your complete specs to begin with? playing on large player server will have a huge load on the cpu. this might be one of the reason why you experience huge dips in performance going from offline to online.
@@JegsTV Yep, i was always at 100% CPU usage when playing 2042, but since yesterday I've been testing some 'user.cfg' files I found online and I'm getting some better results now.
No miracles at all, but better, around 90~95% CPU load during the whole round.
Didn't notice a lot of difference between 64 and 128 servers, but it's definitely a CPU bottleneck.
My specs:
- Intel i7 9700K
- RTX 3080ti
- 32gb RAM DDR4 3600
- Game is installed in a M2 Nvme drive
- 3440x1440p@144 display
Even with all of these changes Im still only getting at best between 108FPS and 99%FPS between 48 to 60. I dont get it. I am running i9-9900k, RTX3090, 32GB RAM, game installed on a Samsung M2.NVME drive. I should be getting way higher frames.
I have 9700k 4.9Ghz OC with 3080ti. Same here. This game utilize 100 cpu Also i have to downclock my GPU to run it)
