- After getting the mini RSP running, sort of, prior to giving it a test drive an assessment of the brakes, steering and suspension is required to ensure its safe to take on the road.
Jacked up without axle stands, absolute madness.
yes guilty as charged ma lord. please don't copy my lazy way of working just documenting what I'm doing, but I have just purchased some stands so will use them for all future work. Anyone watching the video please use stands.
@@MiniJay250 Thanks for your swift reply, It's too late when you're trapped underneath with potential fatal results.
Thanks. Great car.
You bet!
Wheel nuts would probably be the versions that came with the SS covers - without the covers anymore!
Thanks, yes it does appear that the nuts are missing the covers which would then bring the size to 17mm, I couldn’t work out why they were a half size! Makes more sense now!
The wheel nuts are just like mine, all odd ones . They should be chrome domed shape for alloy wheels 17mm socket. Got mine from mini sport in Padiham
Great thanks for the pointer will get some. That probably explains why they are an odd size, if a chrome cover goes over them to bring the size to 17mm.
It looks like this is going to be a long series :)
Unfortunately for me! But fine for those who wish to watch my efforts in fettling! Luckily most things up to now I have been able to sort which just goes to show if you take your time with basic knowledge tools and you tube you can make good progress bodging things up!
Everything is taking an age as every nut is rotted in place, dont know why I expected anything different!
A brilliant mini. What year is this car ?
It’s a limited edition Mini Cooper Rover Special Products (RSP) made to relaunch the Mini Cooper in 1990. Only 1050 made for the UK market, a third in red, third in Green, third in Black.
Couldn’t see clearly but your tyres have a date code. 27th week in 2000 and something
I will have a closer look and check. The last tax disc is 2001 and the tyres have very little wear so could well be.
@@MiniJay250tyres have a 4 digit DOT Code . The first two are the week & the second two are the year. Hope this helps
