Cheap, easy meal that even my picky eater loves: 1 packet of Knorr chicken and broccoli rice side, 1/2 of andouille sausage, sliced or diced, 1/2 can of corn. Brown the sausage, remove the the side. Cook the rice side per the instructions. Add corn while the rice is cooking, then and the cooked sausage. Done. You can add another veggie on the side, or garlic bread.

OMG, I am so jealous. First, because I don't have a super Walmart by me. We just have regular Walmarts but can't do a full food shopping haul there. And Second, the prices are so much cheaper. I need to move by you. But thank you, this video was very helpful in figuring out a budget and planning. A cheap dinner suggestion, hamburger meat, rice, and gravy. Cook the meat, and the rice and then mix it all together. My mom used to make it a lot when I was younger. It's cheap and filling I prefer turkey chop meat now but either way, it tastes great.

I love this kind of money saving video... It's so hard to save without going in with a plan.
I remember when my ex husband and I first started out in our own home (1 year after marriage) with a newborn. I went to Aldi every 2 weeks with a set budget. I got my stuff, but put the necessities up on the belt first... Once it hit the max, I had to pay and put back what I couldn't afford. I can't even imagine how hard it is on young people starting out nowadays. I told Aidan that it's perfectly fine for him to stay here as long as he wants so that he doesn't have to pay rent and utilities for a while.

Nice cheap easy meal- chicken breast, cut up into pieces, mixed in with two cans of cream or chicken soup. Put into casserole dish or cake pan. Cover with two cans of corn and cover the top with stuffing. Cover and cook for 30 minutes at 385. I cover and cook for 5-10 mins more, depending how crispy you like the stuffing. Then serve! You can swap out corn for frozen peas and carrots or any veggie you like actually. Super yummy and cheap- only costs more the more chicken you put in!

Alysia, amazing tips and amazing how you do this. I never meal planned like that and never shopped this way. My two kids are grown, as in one doesn't even live at home anymore. And my son, he buys whatever he wants almost every day and never eats what I make anymore. In fact, I've been giving our outdoor animals more leftovers than I should just because I don't want to throw it away. The racoons and deer and ground hogs along with the feral cats eat it all up, which makes me feel better than putting it in the garbage. I just have to learn to make much, much less for me and my husband and sometimes it is in fact cheaper and easier for both of us working full time to just grab a cheesesteak or something for supper rather than cooking. That's been a huge change for me no longer needing to cook actual meals. There are nights we'll both have an egg sandwich or a bowl of cereal and call it a day and we're content. I wish I had learned how to do what you're doing years ago when I had young children (and of course their friends) to feed all the time. I know I could have saved money. However, I also didn't even have a Walmart or Target. Those are actually fairly new in my world since I'm much older than you are. I remember when the first Walmart opened in our area. I always just shopped like my mom and dad shopped at the grocery store. My big meals are only for holidays now, unfortunately. I love to cook and loved when I had a family to feed but I guess those days are over for me but you amaze me by what you are doing and I think in this day and age it is going to help so many people with a young family to budget and meal plan because the prices are just way out of control and you have to really be careful. I even see so many TV news shows saying it's better to try to eat more meatless meals to help save on grocery spending. I think that's a great way. I guess we've been doing that without even realizing for a long time. We always had a breakfast for supper night and it was always one of my kids' favorite meals. I'd make pancakes or french toast or waffles and they thought it was so cool to have that stuff in the evening. And to this day as I mentioned earlier, we'll fry up a couple of eggs and a couple pieces of toast and we are happy campers. And if I have some peppers or onions or even cottage cheese we throw that into an omelet and it makes for a delicious meal. Another thing I've done for many years is during the summer I hit the local farmers - we have two in very close proximity to our home that have their own buildings that they sell things from their farms, not only produce but they have flowers and plants for your own garden and Easter flowers, poinsettias, etc. and are open all but about four months of the year. Anyway, I buy a lot of that and make my own sauce and freeze it with the tomatoes, blanch a ton of veggies to have all winter, etc. and this saves a TON of money plus you have fresh veggies all year round. I also make pickles and do pickled eggs with the red beets and onions because they last a long time - you can't freeze them but they stay a long time after you make them so if you blanch the beets, you can make pickled eggs anytime during the winter with fresh beets. Just thought I'd throw that out there to add my own two cents. But thank you for your video because it is so important especially right now!!!

I try to make 2 meals out of 1 meal. For example if we have chili one night, the next day I will make that into chili cheese hot dogs or chili cheese nachos. Another example, if I bake potatos and we don't use them, I will use them the next day for breakfast by chopping them up.Also those potatos can be used for potato soup as well. With prices going up so much I am trying to stretch each meal. happy shopping

And of course still scanning your receipts with Fetch rewards still gets you a few rewards. I also buy whatever great value brands I can, and I also find I like some more of those brands over name brand.
Chicken noodle soup I make home made last a 2 days with crackers and block cheese sliced as a side, maybe a grilled cheese as well on side for our family of 5. lasagna as well you could even make a couple of them to freeze and cook later. Also tacos because we make extra meat so we can have tacos one night and taco salad for lunch the next day, and we also use the tortillas to melt some cheese in-between in the microwave and make a quesadilla, my kids love me adding a little pizza sauce and pepperoni for a pizza quesadilla.
I could go on but wanted to through some options for your little ones.

This is definitely great for strictly a walmart budget haul, but you can get more bang for your buck if you have any local stores in the area. Watch their sale ads. Produce like onions and potatoes does go on sale a lot, and if some have memberships that has a point system, you can probably get a lot of that even cheaper if not free.

I shop at Safeway and get their sale items, and do the rest of my shopping at Walmart.
I never pay full price for meat, when the 97% lean hamburger goes on sale for $2.99 a lb I buy the limit and freeze it In 1 lb bags with my seal-a-meal, I do the same thing with pork chops, roasts, steaks ect. Most of their great sale items repeat every few weeks .47¢ for a half gallon of milk, .47¢ for a package of sliced or shredded cheese .98¢ a pound for grapes.
I try to only do grocery pickup at Walmart, I save SOOOO much $$ not buying extra things not on the list, love Ibotta, and fetch rewards.
I definitely menu plan, and try to use items in at least 2 dishes that week, for example if I make pulled pork we will have it on sandwiches one night, and in tacos another, especially if it's fresh produce like celery or cilantro. Food waste is a huge budget buster!!
I stick to a $75 a week budget, most weeks we are below that, some weeks we are above it if I stock up on sale items, I keep all the receipts for the month to make sure I'm on track for $75 a week average.
We eat a protein and fresh veggies at every dinner, fresh fruits and veggies with breakfast, snacks and lunch. I buy very few processed foods and a lot of our starch is whole wheat pasta, sweet potatoes, or brown rice. I love being able to eat delicious, healthy foods while saving $$. It's kind of like a game!!

I’m new to your channel but I love this content! I live in a HCOL area though, so seeing those prices made me kind of sad. It’s all relative though, I guess, and I loved watching anyway!

Hey Girl!! We make mini pizza's using breakfast english muffins!! Great Kid friendly meal!! I also use ground chicken that is a little cheaper than ground beef to make taco salad's. Once you add the seasoning mix my family cannot tell the difference!! Love this...🥰

Yes! We were getting coupons on Perdue website and then an Ibotta rebate for Perdue ground chicken, I have so much now. I've made burgers, lasagna, and tacos so many times and for sure the tacos and lasagna they didn't know it was chicken! Much cheaper, healthier option
