Definitely "was" a toy Canon and that pocket knife is for sure late 1700's just by the shape. What a great place to detect. Thanks for taking us along Brad.
I think that that brass piece could be a doorstop
The small hook you found is a tentor hook, used for tying back draperies. The flat end had a wood screw thread that must have rotted away or broken off. Cool find.
That's what I think it is. After being a lot of Amish houses, that looks just like the curtain tie holders they use.
Thanks for solving a long lost mystery of mine 👍🏼 appreciate it
Nice finds!
My dad made a scaled down Napoleon civil war cannon (down to 50 cal) by hand. He was a machinist for HP. Lots of amazing skills. I told my dad the only thing I wanted of his is that cannon as it remindes me of the kind of talented person he is. Well he gave it to me a couple of years ago and keeps asking me if I have shot it. Frankly I have been afraid to shoot it for fear of damaging it while hauling it around. I have all the instructions and recently told him I would take it out next week to shoot as I know it will make him happy. I am very excited to do this now. I decided that I am going to make a box to store it in when moving it so it doesn't get damaged.
I will Definitely be here next Friday!!! I look forward to seeing your vlogs on Friday!!! You make my Fridays worth getting up for!!! Thank you for sharing another Great Vlog with us!!! God Bless Us All!!!
Great video Brad! Love the copper with the stars carved into it, the thimble and the shoe buckle fragment. Keep up the great work! From, Jim and Mason.
A country kid would never think to load up a toy cannon w/ pilfered 3x black powder or a couple Lucifer heads....a wad and a fishing sinker, and an opposing force of Pewter/lead opponents.....I never would have thought of such a thing....not on such a small scale.....LOL !!! Kudos Brad.
Brad thank you so much for sharing your hobby with us. I always look forward to seeing your adventures. You are living my dream retirement. God bless you and again thank you for sharing.
The L-shaped object you showed us at 7:40 once had an iron screw (long rusted away) sticking out at the now flat end and would have been screwed into the wall in which to hang a picture. They are still reproduced by Optimum Brasses ( catalog online) of Great Britain. They were made in several sizes depending on how heavy the picture was. It’s always fun to see the cool treasures you find, Brad! Thank you for taking us along.
A bit off subject, but what do you think about "The Curse Of Oak Island" and some of the metal detecting on that show? I think it's funny that they find two or three things then wrap it up for the day. I really like the way you do thing on this channel. You seem to search from daylight to dark every time you're out there. Keep up with the great videos.
Watching that show is a plague on good entertainment. The whole show is a long con. Please stop lol.
The copper coin with stars on it is a Freemason coin.
The thimble was most likely used to sew up bags of farm produce.
Cool finds.
Thank you so much for taking us along and so appreciate your efforts! GBY & your family!
Recognized the canon right away. That was my favorite find of this video. Imagine how unhappy the owner was when it exploded. Likely loaded with too much black powder!!
It's always worth another visit
I'm from Vermont, love it and miss it. I've been watching your videos for years now and it's one of the most relaxing things I do. You and your videos are a perfect example of the Green Mountain State.
Great Hunt Brad. My first thoughts were a Pipe Tamper and a toy Cannon. Love the Copper with the engraving on it. Congrats on the 1879 IHP and Wheatie. Trifecta with Pennies. Take Care Brad
Very nice finds, hubby guessed the canon right away. See you next week.
I think your mystery coin is a Dandy Button with that lovely engraved pattern.
Brad, more great finds for the day. Thanks for sharing.
Loved the vid Brad. Thanks for showing us the old shoe buckle collection. The variety of styles shows the care they had for simple fashion back then.
Great stuff Brad, I would absolutely love to get on old ground like that, no matter how much it’s been detected there will always be something good coming out. Thanks for the awesome content.
Thank you Brad for the adventure and seeing some amazing finds especially the toy cannon !
Great finds Brad can't wait for the next video, lots of love from West Virginia ❤️🙂
I have a toy cannon like that. It’s fun to fire off with black powder. I recognized that right away. I would like to get a BIG one.
I make replica big ones if your really interested!
We have a penchant for finding things from the past so that we can better make sense of the present. Awesome!
The "Push Pull Mechanism" is a Smoking Pipe Stamper. The right angle handle makes it easier to use.
Loved this! Thanks for taking us along! Always, always love a thimble!
I know it's going to be good find when the happy rift/music starts playing!!! Another copper!!! Sweet!!! Thanks!😊❤
Hi Brad. Nice finds. Def go back. Have a great weekend.👍😘
As always - Interesting as ever! Thanks for showing what you find Brad! Love the historical part of every episode!
Thank you again for this adventure. Thanks for taking all of us along with you Brad metal detecting. Cool finds! Always look forward to Friday and short clips. Youre living out my dream of metal detecting often.
Hey Brad,
Always glad to find one of your adventures on a friday morning.
I love finding things that connect me to the past, they just feel like having found an old friend.
Thanks for this video.
Take care
Brad have you done a video on your cleaning process tor your finds? And maybe your displays of items ?
Nice work Brad!!
Great time and finds!! Thanks for sharing your adventures
Awesome finds!
What a collection of fun finds! Thanks for the entertainment! Always fun watching your videos!
Nice hunt and finds!
I so enjoy your videos. Just fascinating all the historic artifacts you find. I also want to mention how much I love the music you use for your videos. I know you’re the composer. Really cool! Watching from Idaho.
I I have watched other metal detecting channels. Yours is definitely the most interesting and entertaining. You are lucky to live in such a great area. I live in the city and don't have access to places like where you go. I imagine I could drive far and find somewhere but that is not convenient for me. So I like watching you find all these artifacts. Thank you.
Brad, I always look forward to Friday to see what you’ve been up to. Having been a commercial videographer I can appreciate the time and effort that you put into your videos. Thanks for taking us along… John
great stuff thanks
Pretty awesome finds Brad
Congrats and Ty for sharing
Thank you Brad.
Thanks again Brad, I love the beauty and personality you show in your videos. Always a great video to spend time with you.
Curt
Very nice Brad!
Nice finds brad
Hi Brad, I'm from the UK and have been watching your videos for several years. Thanks for all your hard work in making the great content. I have found a few of the L shape tie backs over the years. I too thought pipe tamper of over engineered hook. Keep on keeping on.
Cris.
I’m in Texas and I always look forward to ur videos. My favorite 👍
Awesome video
Awesome relics Great hunt
Love seeing the thimbles. Such an important personal tool from some so very long ago.
Brad...well done!
let's go let's go treasure and adventure ✌👵
That "pull" mechanism looks more like a wall hook, either for a coat or maybe for keys.
Nice find!
The exploded toy cannon is really a cool find, and the coins as well are so awesome
I just noticed and I'm blown away how you have so many few subscribers!
I really enjoyed your hunt.
Sweet, quality vid as always. Have you ever thought about revisiting a particularly choice patch with a very different detector someday? I know sod-all about the practicalities, but might something like one of those deep-diving, fancy, expensive Minelabs with the large coils they use on the goldfields, perhaps produce interesting results on an otherwise exhausted patch that has produced heaps of treasures for more artifact-oriented devices in the past? Could be an interesting experiment. I'm sure some champion (or maybe even Minelab?) would lend you one if the call was put out.
14:45, it looks to me like a little desk cannon replica.
My favorite channel on yourube
Always love it when someone finds a thimble. ❤
Your brass pull is actually a pipe bowl tobacco tamper and scraper.
How many of those toy cannons have you found? That pic was cool.
I like that altered coin.
Looks to me to be a tobacco pipe tamp. Thanks for your awsome videos!
That crushed piece looks like a toy cannon.
1879 is a slightly lower mintage for an Indian head cent. Just over 16 million, compared to almost 39 million in 1880
@ 7:21 - I believe that to be a period !8th c. pipe tamper Brad, great find no matter what!
You're push-pull thing you found. I've found them before. It's nothing but a coat hook.
Hey Brad, not one to nit-pick but I believe that was a hunting knife not a folding pocket knife. Great stuff, love what you do!
17:25 I believe an adjustable powder measurer.
Full liberty on the indian , must have been lost fresh .
Brad, glad you are back. medal detecting. I enjoy these better than your vlogs.
I’ve enjoyed this event!
Good morning from Copperhill Tn.
Brad, when we're not Beekeeping, we enjoy metal detecting as well. Our question is... You often find British coins but do you ever French Colonies coins?
We found one as a surface find but don't ever see anybody finding French coins. We are outside of Mobile, Alabama.
Greetings from South Carolina 🎉
The crushed cylindrical object with the ball on the end cap, and the pin on one side (there would have been another pin just like it on the opposite side of the cylinder) which was the mounting pin on a toy cannon. It looks more like the barrel of a naval cannon model/toy, rather than field piece. IMHO. The small hook object you found looks like what was screwed into the window frames at grandma's house and they were used as a point to tie back curtains or drapes.
Nice finds Brad, glad to see you got out. Do you have a favorite program you use on your deus ?
Interesting little brass pull. Were you able to determine if the bit on the side end was decorative, or was it broken off there? My guess is furniture, clock, or instrument related. It might have been to release something like a hidden drawer latch. Perhaps a wire attached to it? Looks too dainty in your hand to have been a hook to hang something from.
Hi Brad, I found an exact pipe tamper in my garden. I live in an old English cottage.
That 90° bent item, it is a wall hook to hang you jacket ore coat on😊
Having been pipe smoker, I don't think that object is a tobacco tamper. There's no use for the right angle. Pipe tools usually have the tamper at one end and some kind of scoop or scraper at the other end.
Looks like someone put a little too much powder in that toy cannon!
With all the different shoe buckle’s and the thimbles, perhaps there was shoe repairing going on there
The people that say the knife is a razor because of the size are wrong, I have an 1800's British made penknife in perfect condition made for the US market that is bigger than the one you found here.
Also the hook is for curtains, you can still buy them here in the UK so imagine you can in the US too.
Love metal detecting, its been a while since ive metal detected, its been raining on and off.
Toy cannon, signal cannon. If it’s lead, could have been a whistle, missing its decorative bird
I like the canon guess
That L shaped brass looks like part of a drawer pull
The L shaped thing with a pull knob on it looks kinda like a tamper for a pipe. Maybe the other end was for scraping out the soot.
I like the theory.the toy cannon exploded 💨💨💨💨😎
look's like a close hook.
Exploded toy cannon makes sense. Maybe it exploded when they fired the musket ball…
Pipe stopper for tobacco smoking add
what coil do you use and what settings-program?? ilike your vids and music🙂
Your mystery item looks like an old tap for a whiskey barrel.
👍🙏>>>💚~~~ Thank You
Could there have been a cobbler shop there? With the abudndance of shoe buckle fragments, could they have been brought in for repair?
What comes first, the green slime or the green patina
