We still work on butterfly technique, speed, and endurance but she holds her own when it counts.
This was not a PB but an inspiring moment as Rebecca Meder is an Olympic hopeful in 2021.
8 Year (2015) old Monica Botha (lane 4) set a new Meet record in the 50-meter butterfly at the annual Action Swimming Champs held in Durban South Africa from 6-9 November 2015. The 2012 record stood at 46:19 seconds. Monica set a new meet record of 43:13 - Спорт
Very fast. My 8YO daughter fastest 50 fly (SCY) was 40.40. She’s probably slightly faster now. Great form and great race. 👍 keep it up
Thank you I am 14 now, my times took a bit of a dip due to upper crossed syndrome but I dug my heals in and did the work with professionals for a year so let's see. I swim again on 14 August, 100 SCM fly. I do feel strong and good after all the work so let's see where I am🤣💪 - it is just never easy but I love this sport with all my heart. It is really not easy with COVID but we do the best we can with what we have - my mom teaches me that. Great effort from your girl just keep going is my message to her and have fun.

GalaxyGamer YAAAY - My strokes change all the time - sometimes I am good at back, sometimes at free and fly - the thing is to have a dream, decide to work at it every day and never give up. I also battle with training pools so if you have a pool to train in you are lucky. Keep on going! You will get there💪

I remember in longcourse I swam 40 seconds. I was so slow I get my times from earlier this year at practice. I would swim like 37 seconds maybe
hcr2Mikolaj PL - for me it also took a long time to get faster. I got stridor in 100 fly and an asthma attack where my chest closed. It made me scared to swim butterfly.
So my parents first just entered 50 m and I just kept working and working on fly. I am 12 now and #butterfly is my favorite although I still like the IM most. Just keep on training - it takes longer for some of us to be faster.

Hello Laura this is her coach - she is now 14 - thank you for the nice compliment - we battle with pools where we are so it is quite a journey with so many roadblocks but we navigate through it one at a time....
PS just a note - we battled with pools once 2013 - so COVID was nothing new to us. This swimmer drives us - we try to keep up🤣

Anonymous Bulldog thanks, 12 now....😂 100 fly at 1:12 - free is now my best stroke but I love the IM - I know it is confusing. I have 5 SA National Junior (AAA) qualifying times and swam my first SA SC National champs last week.

Thank you - I am 14 now 🤣 I love swimming and love training and the whole process of growing up in swimming. Still swimming butterfly but it is for now not the fastest stroke.

This is a wonderful swim - but I’m so thankful kneeskin tech suits have been banned for kids this age. They are not necessary
My mom says it is not in the suit - my parent coaches coach me because 2013-2017 we had no clubs.

8 yr olds wearing tech suits tho~
I had to earn my suit....swam old school for quite some time. I actually earn everything from my paddles to my fins to my board, swim bag. I am now 14 & so grateful for my family that helped with my TYR suit. Nothing comes for free.....
Goes to show it is not in the suit - we have other races where I swim non-tech suit at an older age showing it is not the suit that makes the swimmer
i started using a tech suit when i was twelve, but i got my first national cut at eleven. u could say i earned it as well.
@@bellaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAA if my suit rips I am back to old school - in South Africa I am now a senior National swimmer with 2 qualifying times. We just do not qualify for any help so back to old school if my suit rips,,,
Over here only Olympians counts - it is pretty much the same everywhere else. - i ok - I swim because I love it so no matter which suit - I just swim❤️

Hi I think that is great. Butterfly is a very difficult stroke just like breaststroke. It does not matter how far or fast you can swim it, it matters that you are swimming it. Just keep on training and do not give up - before you know it, you really enjoy the stroke!

Great technique from an 8 & u. Just needs to concentrate on dive. Instead of coming up so early, she needs to do 4-5 fly kicks underwater. Also she is breathing too high - she needs to rest chin on water and push chin forwards to gain forwards momentum, instead of upwards momentum

Just watched it -and far better technically! If when she's under the flags she takes a smaller pull, she'll hit the wall on a full stroke and get off the wall faster!

Cannot speak for +Kris Mengelschots but I started swimming competitively age 6. I never did Level Zero - Level 1 at 7, then level 2 at 8 but I could not swim Provincials only SSA levels as I had Level 3 times. I was Victrix Ludorum for 13 & U at 8. Then at 9 Level 2 purely because my parents said I must not go too fast and the rule here in South Africa is that if you are 10 & Under you should swim Level 2. December last year age 10 I swam KZN Premier champs (vids on my channel) and got silvers there for 11 & Under. I will be 11 in March.

Not all swimmers grow the same way. Be kind to yourself. Swimming takes a long time and sometimes the fast kids at a young age are just early bloomers. Not all popcorn pops at the same time. Just keep at it, really have fun and do not shoot yourself down. You can do this!

Hi, no problem that is really a good time. She is now 10 and will turn 11 in March. We live in South Africa and the swimmers here do not have the same opportunities as kids elsewhere.
Having said that, we compare her times to the USA 2017-2020 Motivational times and she is hundredths of seconds away from AAAA times.
