We're off to Scotland - and this video shows us planning for our trip.
It's going to be our longest and furthest trip yet - we're very much looking forward to it - but we're just trying to work out what we need and where we're going.
Everyone in a Motorhome seems to be on the NC500, the marketed route through the North of Scotland. But we're going to avoid it this time and get to enjoy some wildlife watching in, (hopefully), some less well known areas.
Join us as Sue stops me waffling for ever. 😃

But we just walked to a little beach and then crossed the road to some waterfalls in the forest. So gorgeous!!

Thanks guys. What we have confirmed on this trip is that we prefer the tiny sites and that we think we will take the plunge for off grid like you guys. It all feels so free! The NC500 is fine if you like a traffic jam in peak season but away from it is better! 😃
What a fabulous tour. It’s going to be amazing Sue and Dave. Can’t wait to see your videos. We are in Scotland in June and although we are using 2 of the same sites we have a different route. You will be fine on the longer tour. If you need anything from shops etc, always ask the locals, they are usually very helpful. 🚐👍🏻 enjoy your tour and safe travels 😃💙 Trev n Sue

Yall were having way too much fun. Can’t wait to follow along on this adventure. 😂. Have fun driving the back roads. You can always get a bucket with a hole drilled in the top, a plunger, water and make your own make shift washer. Then hang them out to dry on a pretty day. 😂😂

You’re going to have a grand tour in Scotland! There really are quite a few details to work out! Steve and I have gone on a two week trip before, but haven’t done a three week! You’ll have lots of fun and see some amazing animals and wildlife, I’m sure. It helps that you’ve been to some of the places before so you know your way around. Have a fantastic trip! 😄🌻🌻🌻

Agree on the NC500. It has been over marketed and underfunded, it needs accommodation and eateries. I promise we have supermarkets and shops LOL.

We finally made it up here 🏴🏴. A bit lost around Dumfries and the weather was dreadful. But made it to the Clyde estuary and the Sun has come out and it’s a stunner!!

Couldn't agree more about the NC500 , it's winding up the locals to rightly or wrongly. We much prefer the isles , the views are amazing and the islanders are amazing. We had a interesting click and collect on the isle of Skye , it was delivered to a community centre. We love those sorts is unique experiences. Pennygowen is an amazing spot and they sold some great farmer reared meat in the shop when we were there a couple of years ago. Glad to hear from you on FB that the weather is improving. Well we’ve had a day to remember today. A mill pond crossing to Mull and then it was - where’s the Sun Tan lotion?
What a difference a day makes.
They don’t have any meat for sale this week - supply problems which is a shame - but it is an incredible site!
And we just watched a Sunset with a deep red sky - not clouds but sky.
Very very special!
Mull has already blown us away!!
Happy Sunday Dave and Sue! After some attempts you got off to a good explanation of your plans for the trip to Scotland:) I am not aware of what the NC500 is, but I figure it is similar to some of the overused tourist routes here in Norway. When you have a motorhome it makes sense to go on lesser travelled and more quiet routes to really enjoy the landscape. As for washing clothes I can understand why that is a part of the planning, but a little trick is to have woollen clothes in reserve. Unless you get really dirty you just air the clothes and they will be comfortable enough the day after. Even on warm summer hikes I wear wool for that reason. And it is nice to see that there are still "honesty boxes" around, so I hope you will get a spot there. It does sound like a lovely location. I guess you will do some more planning and updates as the day of travel is coming up, so looking forward to it! And congratulations on reaching 1K - you will be at 2K a lot quicker than the first 1000:) Have a lovely day in the south! All the best, Ant

The NC500 stands for the North Coast 500 miles. The roads existed when I was younger, but the “NC500” didn’t. So people just follow along. But there’s so much more to see across Scotland.
Good tips on the wool clothing. A tip from you must be listened to. Norwegian clothing is legendary.
We’re really hoping to be able to stay on a couple of remote sites with no one else around. But we will see

@@NBNatureTrailvan my brothers doing the 500 as we speak. He left Friday but it’s up in Carlisle now and heading to Inverness tomorrow. He’s away in the van with the wife and 2 Labradors abs Expecting to take 10 days to 2 weeks 👍
@@PhilipOlsen11 it’s the best place in the World in my opinion. That road does get so busy in peak though so I reckon this will be the best time to do it mate. 👍👍
You showed some lovely places here guys and I'm looking forward to seeing the videos. It will be interesting to do your own thing rather than follow the popular route. Wise to take your own washing powder, someone needs to invent clothes that wash themselves while they are are being worn 😄

We’re a bit nervous as it’s the longest trip we’ve done and we’re going to be quite remote for a few days. But hopefully it will all work out fine.

Hi Sue and Dave, what a great video, very funny. Really looking forward to seeing the tour, we love Scotland. Plenty of shops in Fort William along with the Distillery and Soap factory, both of which you can get the MH in. Bunree is excellent as is Mull. We did the drive to Iona many years ago (in a car), the most beautiful road in the UK! Also glad to see you plan the route, it seems many don't. I think that's part of the fun. We're just finishing planning a trip to Salzburg for a similar amount of time. Enjoy Scotland.

I remember it was stunning. We have a couple of nights on a site along that road so fingers crossed for the weather 🤞🤞. Salzburg will be brilliant - we should hopefully be near there in the Autumn👍👍

Well, Dave, it's a good thing you have Sue beside you to keep you in line!! lol Three week!? Are you thinking you are retired and on vacation or something!? LOL I'll guess the NC500 is an express way...hmmm...it will be fun to see if you are able to avoid it in totality. My head hurts with all the plans as I was one of those who just climbed in and off Darryl and I and mom and dad would go. Heading to some pretty amazing places!! Totally enjoy!!
