They played outdoors on the grounds of the castle, a river running through behind the stage. The setting was so magical and storybook it was crazy. The Bangles opened for Queen and they were a lot of fun. It had been raining all day, we stood out in the pouring rain throughout. To cut to the chase...Queen began playing A Kind of Magic at one point during the show. Literally at the moment Freddie sang the words 'A kind of magic...' the rain suddenly stopped, the clouds parted, and a huge rainbow appeared across the castle grounds and the shimmering wet grass. It was surreal, to say the least. I'm still not entirely convinced that there wasn't some actual magic in the air that made that happen. ;-) But I will swear on a stack of Bibles that it did. Or a stack of Pringles cans, whichever is handier.
