Richard really convinced me he was homeless in his performance. Every gesture was of a man who had succeeded in life only to lose it all. So familiar yet always incredibly painful. I did wait for him to eat something, even if it was just a small hamburger and fries. Relieved when he did get a bed and some food. Exceptional movie!
He is performing the truth and reality of America. People left in the street like rats and treated like rats. Instead being concerned about your model, your great society..... Richard Gere perforadas like a homeless. Really, a greatbig actor performimg his role???? Really that is your comment and concerns about a growing Hugo amount of peaople in the stated ending in the street and not one questioning this truth and facts ????

This movie impacted me in a very different way. The constant noise was overwhelming and so real. I can now imagine what it is like being alone in the midst of so many people who are all reaching for real connection and especially those like Hammond, lost and homeless.
Yes its palpable. No 'peaceful' volume controlled environments like the ones most of us are currently seated in, to regulate our happiness and sense of calm.
It must be sad to have no one to turn to, to feel alone and abandoned. There are so many living that way, it hurts to see them. Richard Gere was great in his role as a homeless person. Thanks for sharing ❤

Just watching, a part of it, it is sad; no one really cares. We may have family, but in todays world nobody wants to care about one another, like they use to. They use you up, & kick you out. No money, no place to live...& the circle continues. IT NEEDS TO STOP!!! HELP ONE ANOTHER

Fine movie. I love symbolism. So much was said without a word. sadness coupled with loneliness. love the way the chaos of New York was captured. The indifference of red tape and the bored government workers .. life can be discouraging. Very realistic portrayals. Thankyou fir posting.

OMG, i fear homelessness. I know that just a little change in my circumstances could quickly lead to this. Most ppl live paycheck to paycheck. Thank God I do not have to. I'm fortunate. But this movie depicts the harsh reality of homelessness and it's scary.

I was so impressed with this little gem of a film that I passed it on to a good friend. Btw, Richard Gere looks like he hadn't slept in a week before he played this role.

I loved the film it was beautifully filmed if you watched every conversation that took place between people. You would have a Shakespeare play in every conversation I loved the film it's about ordinary people. Just like you and me

Too bad they couldn't get a real homeless person to play the part.I'm sure there is one out there that can act. Gere plays a role of one; he's an actor, and very rich one at that.
Unless you're a trust fund baby, each and every one of us is 2 paychecks away from potentially living the life in this movie. Thank goodness for non-profit organizations that act as safety net. But, we need more affordable housing.
It doesn't matter what you have it can be taken away I've been too much tragedy than anyone can imagine but I survived them all and made something of myself over and over until I met this guy who happens to be an NPD he's taking everything destroyed everything and I'm losing my house at 72 years of age very long story short there are no funds for me but every immigrant that comes to my state of Texas get their checks doubles now it's over 2000 if it's doubled and it was $1,500 to begin with plus medical plus apartments plus education fast food and I'm on $900 a f****** month what the f*** but don't vote for Trump God forbid both of that a****** let's make it worse right

I’ll just say right off, I don’t think this movie is going to be everyone’s cup of tea. It’s kind of depressing. However, it’s nice that that there are these shelters throughout the city so that folks don’t freeze during the winter. Also, they provide the homeless with some food. Could be worse, a lot worse.

My brother was drug user and I had to let him live on the streets in order for him to decide to get clean. It hurt so much, but helped him.

Someone made a movie about my life. I play music and I started right after high school but by the age of 20 I had two kids and I had a few day jobs but I continued with the music until I started playing music full-time but then at the age of 40 I stopped playing for about 5 years I had a terrible substance abuse problem and my wife threw me out of the house when my kids were eleven and ten . I kept playing music but it was very difficult it was hard for me to keep a relationship with them and I had a couple more years of working until my substance abuse problem led me to homelessness and if you arrest and incarceration. It's been a little over 25 years since I seen my kids and I have not seen my ex wife since she threw me out of the house. I lost everything but at least I switched instruments and now play guitar good enough so I can make a little extra money to supplement my social security check

There are so many homeless people. I was always afraid of them but the older Ive gotten ,I now know the reasons of homelessness. All of these reasons are so sad. I cant imagine what I would do if my child died or my spouse, or any people need some sort of help.

Very sad that the black dorm mate couldn't stop talking, and so he lost his place in that shelter. And so, the self-centered character played by Gere thereby lost someone who cared. I was surprised that most of the social workers and shelter employees were kind, patient, and responded as human beings, not robots.

The good thing about streaming a movie, you can forward it and at least see some parts till the end. It isn’t his best , but takes you into a real daily life of a homeless man. It’s sad, but it’s an epidemic that seems to keeps growing and growing 😢 and growing…. Yes, Lord help us all in helping those less fortunate.
