    The Model 50 delivers 70 watts RMS per channel at 8 ohms, plenty for most speakers. It's 4-ohm stable, too, providing 100 watts RMS. Marantz uses what they call the Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module, plus a beefy toroidal transformer, which allows the amp pinpoint control over your speakers as the dynamics change.
    The signal path is entirely analog, which by nature minimizes interference and ensures a clean signal path. 5 sets of RCA inputs let you connect your sources: music streamers, CD players, anything that has RCA outputs. One set is a dedicated phono input for connecting your turntable.
    We call the Marantz Model 50 a "love letter to analog," because you don't see a design like this too much any more. Audiophiles will love it for its simple design, pristine power delivery, and ability to keep up during fast dynamic swings in their music. And even if you don't self-identify as an audiophile, it's easy to appreciate the build quality and how well it performs. It's simultaneously a work of art and a workhorse.

    Great video. I currently have a PM8006 which was the old version of the Model 50 and I absolutely love it. What did you pair the Model 50 with when testing? I can see you are using a Technics SL-1210GR with an Audio Technica 540ml but what speakers are you using?

      @@crutchfield The deep and articulate bass! I have decent speakers, but they’ve been powered from a Denon AVR their entire life. They must feel like they went from a diet of diluted apple juice to hard liquor. 😂

      Great speaker choice! The Marantz Model 50 is a solid amp option. Keep in mind, more power will give you even better performance/sound quality, especially at lower volume levels.

    Which sounds better model 50 or model 30? Class AB vs class D? Thanks

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  5 місяців тому +1

      These are both top notch class AB amps. The 30 does offer even cleaner power with it's beeifer build. What are you planning to power?

    I am an owner of Cinema 50 and thinking of adding an amp for my fronts. I can get 40n and model 50 for just an acceptable price difference. I expect Model 50 and 40n to have similar playback quality. Model 50 might be a better fit for Cinema 50, as Cinema 50 already has a streamer. But - what about streamer quality of Cinema 50 vs model 40n? 40n has a Sabre DAC, while Cinema 50 has TI DAC. Would there be an audible difference? Should I get the 40n and ignore the streamer of Cinema 50? Or just adding model 50 to my Cinema 50 would provide good enough enhancement?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  3 місяці тому

      Hi Petr, great choice on the Cinema50! Have you considered using a power amp instead of an integrated power amp since you won't have any need for the additional built-in features?

      @@crutchfieldI know some ppl use units like Emotiva (or some other brands), but 1) I plan to use integrated amp for a phono / cd stage and 2) if I would be supposed to buy e.g. Emotiva 5 or 7 channels, why not to go with the Cinema 70 in pre-out mode and invest in Cinema 50? Well, I know, Dirac, but ....

      Sounds like you've got a great setup in mind. Matched to your receiver as the pre-amp, there would be no advantage in moving to the 40n's network player.

    I'm fairly sure there isn't a recent remaster of Spiderland which is AAA, the 2014 Remaster was a 24/96 file "taken from the original tapes" but is not all analog so the inclusion is a bit strange

    • @crutchfield

      Hi Paul, thanks for the clarification! I wasn't aware that there was a digital transfer step in the Bob Weston remaster. Still a fantastic and dynamic album that highlights the Model 50's performance.
