Two years later and this is still a lovely tutorial. Like all your work, its quite lovely and a real inspiration for the rest of us. Glad you keep sharing.
Wide range of techniques and skills you are displaying in your beautiful videos are what got me into painting with watercolor. Thank you for the effort and time you have invested in these videos Peter.
Peter - I have only just discovered your videos and I have to tell you, you are not only inspiring but I find I'd rather watch your UA-cam channel than television. Having gone through a horrific trauma in my life, I've just returned to the traditional arts after a few decades as a graphic designer. The passion in me has returned and I now find graphic design cold and uninteresting. Thank you for inspiring me to pick up the watercolors that I used to paint with my grandmother. Your style inspires me and the music accompanying this video is uplifting and cheery - it fits with your lovely painting. Again - thank you!
Thank you very much Antonio. Our talents mix well together :) I will be using your music in many more. It's nice to see comments about your music. I will be thrilled if I help a few people find your work.
Peter Sheeler : Thanks again, Peter. I shared your video as well and received wonderful comments about your work. I hope you get some extra traffic too. 👍
Can’t say how many time I’ve watched your video. It’s simple - excellent art. Your art is free going with your imagination, emotion. Super nice ! Thanks for sharing your beautiful video.
Another great video Peter! I really liked learning how to include the white space as snow on the branches! I really enjoy watching your videos as I learn something new every time!
I have learned a great deal from your videos. My question is: Do you usually work on such a small scale, or do you do larger pieces also? Thank you for your reply.
An excellent tutorial. Thank you for posting it. I always admire attractive images achieved with a limited palette, and easier for a beginner, like me, to attempt. It is mid summer where I live in the steamy tropics of North Queensland in Australia so not a subject I see here. However I have travelled and hiked in snowy wilds of Scotland! As I attempt to copy your lovely little snow-laden bush, it will remind me how delicious it is to be cold! 😊😊😊
Thank yo so much for this video, ideal for a beginner like me. I found it very easy to understand and follow. What I like is that I donot have to dabble in too many colors right from the start. And of course the music is so pleasing.
I have to try this...no angles so I should be able to do this. I liked the way you created the branches. Loved the music also. It is heart warming that people with talent are so willing to share. Peace to all and Merry Christmas.
I'm going to try this. I'm sure it is more difficult than it looks!!! You make it effortless. But I have learnt so much from you! Thank you for sharing it and making my learning a bit better!
Sir your observation is unexplainable before you start you know where the branches will have snow Learning a lot through each of your painting I rightly say you are my guru
This is a beautiful painting Peter! I did not see that face though until you mentioned it, and what a pleasant surprise. Just found your channel and so happy I did. After many years of creating art for work on computer, in retirement, I'm returning to the analog method and enjoying it to much more. I learned a lot from watching you paint and enjoyed your choice of mixed media. I love those uniball pens. Blessings to you!
Nice! I shall try this. Also I enjoyed the piano music & he plays in very similar style to me. I shall have to start that again too. You seem to be the inspiration I needed, Peter! Thanks.
He doesn’t tell you verbally......he will note what he’s doing. But really just watching if you know anything about watercolor it’s pretty self explanatory. I like the fact there isn’t constant jabbering!
As always, you make it look so simple and my first try looks like a pile of nothing :) guess we have to keep on trying... happy new year from Italy Peter!
Thank u Peter! love ur tutorials! But would really appreciate having the reference photo also... it makes it easier for the viewer to understand why u r doing whatever iy is that u r doing, and the sequence.
The video and music are mesmerizing! I want to try something similar~do you have a photo that you are working from, or do you have a picture in your mind?
Ideas come from my imagination/memory, my own photos or by painting on location. If I use a reference photo it will be included in the video. This one was from mostly from memory
Simple and beautiful. But, I'm confused about using a piece of paper to mix your colours on. Is there a special reason to do this? It seems like it would absorb the paint too quickly.
Debra Sullivan I think that it is easier to see the real color than from those water drops in your pallete. And maybe easier to take a right amount, on pallete brush just sucks up everything inside. Excited to hear what Peter Sheeler says
When it comes to travel and painting, I am an extreme minimalist. Even the small palette I normally use requires some care and clean-up between paintings. So, this is part of my latest and simplest solution. Although it does not make a perfect palette, it's very mobile. It keeps the liquid paint from running as I change the angle of the painting surface. When I'm done, no cleanup, just toss the used palette in the garbage. In the new year, I will be showing an new travel setup that anyone can make.
Ah ha! That's a good idea, Peter. I love the idea of an easy clean-up. I'm looking forward to seeing your new travel set-up. Thanks! Also, for some reason I was unable to leave a response to one of your comments last week. You said selling your work on ebay provides you with a way to get your work to a wider market. I wanted to add that from the buyer's perspective it's so great that people like me can own beautiful, original art at affordable prices. It's a win-win! Merry Christmas!
Muumipappi, that's true! You would see exactly how the pigment looks on paper before adding it to your painting. Lots of great little tips for a newbie like me. Merry Christmas!
Thank you Nikko. Please read the video write-up section. Click on "show more" below the video screen. This information plus much more is available there.
Your panting and Antonio Romo's music make perfect harmony. Thank you.

Two years later and this is still a lovely tutorial. Like all your work, its quite lovely and a real inspiration for the rest of us. Glad you keep sharing.

Peter - I have only just discovered your videos and I have to tell you, you are not only inspiring but I find I'd rather watch your UA-cam channel than television. We're warmer here as well. It will change
Very cool! Just starting with water colors. Which brand do people recommend?
Thanks Teri. I use Winsor Newton and DaVinci. There are many more out there.
merci pour cette vidéo, pourriez vous me dire si le papier est mouillé au préalable ou bien si sur papier sec ?
Le papier était la plupart du temps sec. Si je mouille le papier, je le montrerai dans la vidéo.
Another beautiful lesson. Thank you. Peter, did you notice the blue face on your paper pallet watching you at about 50?
Lol. I do now :)
The video and music are mesmerizing! I want to try something similar~do you have a photo that you are working from, or do you have a picture in your mind?
Ideas come from my imagination/memory, my own photos or by painting on location. If I use a reference photo it will be included in the video. This one was from mostly from memory

In terms of talent, you're a maximumist, if that's a word.....
Very nice, what paper or canvas are you using
