If you like the version of Trilogy in this video you can purchase it at gog.com for around 10-15 dollars. No complicated controller setup either it’s very straight forward.
You'll also need to tinker with your graphics card option and sound system too cause the game is constantly updating from time to time thus could make the game look weird on your PC sometimes.
Its the best version. No load times. But had his problems too. The ground from the arenas seems to not be fixed in place and moves with characters. Also it is really difficult to make it work in modern PCs, but now there is GOG version.
This is the version I set up for Jojo's MK Trilogy cabinet! I always hated loading times in my "arcade" games but loved the PS1's option of having the bosses so this was a great option. It also runs in a more arcade friendly manner. I need to add it to my MAME cab! I'm still not finished with the video but I'm impressed with your gameplay already. I SUCKED at this game haha.
For me...Sega Saturn version. But this one on PC-DOS version is awesome at a high level, I have to agree ...Please keep talking about our MK classics in all versions, this is what sets you apart and we love it.
Great video! I was so hoping for a 30th anniversary kollection of 1/2/3/U/T (especially on Switch) but sadly here we are still waiting. They could even add in the home versions (klassics only) and full museum mode with artwork and all the original magazine ads and promos! How AWESOME would that be 👊🏻
This version is faster than UMK3, and uses the sample voices from MK2 for the round announcement as well as the "Wins" word. I have a version that has the MK3 voice, and runs at a lower framerate to be closer to the arcade version of UMK3, and the N64 version of MKT. It also has the right music for the UMK3 stages, and other minor fixes. If you want Darryl, I can send it to you for download, though I can not promise that it would be any easier to beat lol
That’s awesome I’d love to try it 👊🏼 as for the difficulty it is what it is I’ve accepted that for many of the MK games but I just love the games so much it doesn’t matter to me I’ll play them anyways lol if you wouldn’t mind hit me up in discord and we can chat in there 👊🏼 Edit: I just checked out your channel, are you THE Master Linkuei whose name I see in the credits of many of the Mugens that I’ve played? If so, I salute you my friend you work on some incredible versions of Mortal Kombat!
I owned the playstation version and before the internet became mainstream I spend so much time in versus mode trying to figure out all brutalities for each character. Easiest way to beat this game for me has always been Shang Tsung at hard difficulty which I used to play all my fighting games on during that time, now I would struggle with very easy judging the AI cheating from your vid :) If you can somehow put a scanline filter over the game in ms dos its the PS1 version without the loading times.
Love it Brother, Yea I two spend like and hour on motaro once. It can be tough but you have to play strong and will be exhausted in the end but all will be worth it. It should be called Super Mortal Kombat Trilogy MS Dos. See ya on the next one. 👊
I've played MKT in my PS1 a lot when I got the PC version years later. And first thing I noticed was that , as you said, it was the PS1 version ported to PC and that was great. Although they could've removed that key configuration icon and add a 3 on 3 mode, since there were no loading times. Anyway, for me it was like let's give it another round. In that MKT I played, all five intro screens could be found in the game's folder and they were just plain bmp images. So, you could replace or edit them, which I did, of course. I don't know if this can still be done in the version you played. Also, that game is stucked in its original raster resolution of 240p and you can't use filters to enhanced it like you can on emulators. But then again, this version you played looks great, so I think it's been modded or something.
This is the version I got first. At a right time too, this is about the only time I owned a good enough computer to play a great new game at the time. Love this version. As I said in your comparison video, this is my pick
The limited music is due to using red book audio. The game itself isn’t that big but the audio was the real killer of CD storage. Unfortunately it resulted in certain tracks not being around, and also resulted in MK1 stages not getting their proper tracks. On PS1 and Saturn there were less expensive codecs that could’ve done all of this and then some at the expense of a little bit of clarity. Though it makes me wonder if PC was lead platform for this build and the PS and Saturn versions are branches of it. Because I know MK Trilogy on N64 was a completely different game that used MK3 PC as its base, which is why they play so different.
Very thorough I appreciate you sharing this, I played through MK3 for PC just the other night and thought it was very good as well. Didn’t realize Trilogy for N64 used this version as its base but it makes sense as I definitely see similarities between those two versions now that you mentioned it. Thanks for the comment! 👊🏼
The PC version is amazing, however, I still think that the N64 is the one that plays better, the input feels really smooth. The N64 also has bigger sprites and my favorite MK arena: the hidden portal.
Nice! Haven't played this version but the PlayStation version minus loading sounds really good (Saturn is also a contender I guess). Going to have to check this out.
PC version is the best 32 bit based version as the loading times are pretty much at the start and once you're playing is like you're playing either the N64 or the Arcade versions of MK3, but yeah... is very difficult overall (at least you don't need to use a cheat code to get Freeplay mode for continues). Edit: How funny they pulled out a SNES UMK3 "fail"tailities here (making reference to MK1 Kano's "Animality" at that failed attempt on the Endurance Stage) that you can "perform?" when you enable 1 button finishers and use a finisher that your character doesn't have (except in this case they do their win pose like if you attempt to do a stage fatality on a stage that doesn't have it), the only nitpick I have of the 32-bit MKT versions is the MK3 OST feels kinda wrong (in some cases can be fixed with a mod like the Ps1 version). Edit: The MK3 Arcade artworks for the vanilla characters AND some others like Scorpion and Raiden ARE also on the 32-bit console versions (Ps1 and Saturn), however on N64 since it's just a Saturn conversion of UMK3 with some edits you just get the UMK3 Bios-style endings.
The secret to this AI is the same as ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. You can get them to run in by jumping back and kicking, and they will run at you or throw a projectile. If they run, jump straight up to a kick into a combo. If they throw a projectile some of them, you can jump over the projectile and hit them. Others, you can wait for them to run at you again. I think I did a Playthrough on this version a while back. I was planning on doing a PlayStation one play through on trilogy and on that video you’ll be able to see what I’m talking about. Great video man. 👍
I’m gonna screen shot this, I’m familiar with those strats but feel like I need to beat them into my subconscious because I always forget. Thanks for the comment MEL this helps 👊🏼
On PS1, I figured out how to get to the Question Mark option the day I got the game, on PS1, I held L1+L2+R1+R2+Up, hold those buttons till you hear an explosion. Also on the character select, you showed MK1 Kano, MK1 Raiden and MK2 Kung Lao, you can also play as MK2 Jax.
I had this version on my spare laptop. This right here is as close as you're going to get to an arcade version. It's too bad it wasn't released in arcades honestly.
It won't be close to arcade cause if there exist an arcade version of this then all the boss characters can't be selectable at the fighter selection screen. Also this version is missing moves and stages.
Damn yeah, this has gotta be the best version, at least for playing with a friend! the difficulty situation is quite a shame though. I'll probably stick to the Saturn version for single player (which is just like the PS1 version, but with slightly faster loading times [still slow though lol] ), But i'm definitely gonna get this GOG MS DOS version for multiplayer! Just simply too much missing content for me though (and that's the version i had growing up, so even nostalgia can't bring up the 64 version from last place for me)
Yeah MKT on PC is the best. I bought it on GOG for like $1.98 on a sale. It was listed as "for Windows" so I'm not sure if it differs from this "MS DOS" one? Anyway, good stuff! :)
Can’t go wrong for 2 bucks lol it’ll probably be the only version I play anymore when it comes to Trilogy now gotta be honest. I feel like it’s the best. Thanks for the comment 👊🏼
@@TheBoofGod It definitely is. But ironic that after 3, the other games didn't even come close to the level of difficulty MK3 had. That always made me wonder.

I never understood why they make the easy version of the game difficult. It should be one that allows you to practice and get muscle memory before going to the next level.
If they ever re-release this for modern systems with 1-2-3 and ultimate they need an option with different AI.Street fighter 3rd strike(besides the final boss)is like playing against a real opponent

Odd that the Endurance Match is Baraka and Kano, both which are portray by Richard Divizio. Richard Divizio himself was also Noob Saibot in the original Mortal Kombat 3 as well. As difficult as this version is at the very least it had infinite credits so you could continue for as long as you like. The N64 version is the only one that had limited credits, you will only get infinite credits if you enter a code on that one.
Mr Tsung! I met with you on fightcade last time but alas Greece is too far to play! I have spent my life trying to get this version to run properly without the hideous gog filter that messes the colors and blurs the image - i have partially done so by using reshader. Please please do me a favor: can you try the Baraka beheading fatality and tell me if the game crashes? I know it sounds odd but you may be my only chance to know if anyone else has the same issue? Thanks a ton for all your great videos!🙂
The version of this game on GOG is actually the windows version, patched to work on newer systems. The original CD release of this game did support both Windows and DOS. Also some of the music in the GOG version plays at the wrong pitch and speed.
Best way to defeat the big ole E match’s is get a hit on the enemy and take no damage or have most health and just walk back and forth till time runs out. The ai will just go back and forth with you.
I really wish they had made an actually arcade version of this game. I only ever played the N64 version, even though I had a PS, I didn’t bother trying it out because everyone said the loading was so bad. I’ll have to give the PC version a try. But holy crap, if that was very easy, I’d hate to see very hard!! I don’t remember ever having that much trouble plowing throw the game. Oh, my favorite part of this game is that they brought back some elements of MK2 and my favorite character Baraka. What I wish they had done was use the Fatality font, blood dripping, and most importantly deep music like they had in the MK2. I love the music, it almost sounds like an extension of Steve’s voice. That was missing from the SNES version of MK2 and it bugged me.
Thorough comment Jason I appreciate it, very easy and very hard are the same in this game I find, at least once you get to the 3rd match and up. Hope you get to try this version 👊🏼
Use Noob's teleport. It tracks anywhere and they.can do nothing when the cloud is active. End you combo in teleport then pressure on wakeup. Hit them with cloud on wakeup and theres.nothing they can do. This is the only strategy you'll ever need to Flawless.every round.
This is THE legit version to get in my opinion. It’s not a fan made Mugen but the real deal and at 15 bucks it’s definitely worth it! Thanks for the comment Ellen 🙏🏽
It's missing those cause they were never meant to be in the game to begin with. Also there's no older version of Johnny Cage, you only get older version of Kano, Rayden, Jax, and Kung Lao. Reason for that was cause their actors were the only ones available when MK Trilogy was in production, everyone else were cut and paste only. Johnny Cage being the only new actor in the game. Older Liu Kang, older Sonya, older johnny Cage, older Scorpion and Sub-Zero, older and younger Shang Tsung, and older Kitana and Mileena were all not available cause their actors/actresses all quit the company by then.
Didn’t even know there was a Dos version I was stuck on x-wing and x-wing vs Tie fighter back then, I ruined two controllers of my brothers playing it. I absolutely loved Mk and most versions but it was just to hard, the ai was unbelievable unless you abused some exploit but who wanted to do that.
The AI in this game turns a lot of players off of single player and unfortunately the game altogether. And abusing the exploits does get a little tedious I agree. Thanks for the comment 🙏🏽
The PC version is the same as PS1 and Saturn in difficulty, it is an easy game if you know the method of killing the characters which is the same for everyone, the difficult fight for me is Kintaro's endurance with Motaro
The version of MK Trilogy, I have on the laptop is similar to this. It has a patch, so it's playable on Win 10. I like the game very much, but the AI is tough.....yet not impossible.
Back in the day I played this version long before the psx and n64 versions. Best version by far. Between MK Trilogy and Blood Omen, I just felt bad for those who only played on psx versions not knowing about the superior pc versions with no loading.
Do a playthrough as Shang Tsung! PLEASE 🙏🥺. I've always wondered about his morphs on PC version. My friend and I played the PS1 version as kids and the loading was awful. I own the N64 version which plays better but lacks some of the characters.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the N64 was like $80 when it came out. No wonder the PS1 version sold more and was better in almost every way except the load times.
It only sold more cause everyone had a PS1 at the time, there's not that many people who bought an N64 and most of the people who own a Sega Saturn didn't even play the Mortal Kombat games on there.
Between mk 3 and this one for Dos there is some slight differences, the intro screen for mk 3 does not have the bank music and when your fighting on the stages of mk 3 it has the ending music for each stage/ finishing music at the end and as for trilijy the sound just cuts off when you win or lose a round.
Is it over clocked it just looks very fast but man I've watched alot of your vids and you know mortal kombat. And if you recommend it well then I believe. It just looks very fast that's why I asked if it was clocked. Stay safe and well from dublin ireland🇮🇪🇮🇪🎶🎶👌🙏🙏👍
The reason that is is because the MK arcades run around 54hz. Consoles and PC games typically can run 50hz (PAL) or 60hz (NTSC). When the game is ported it will have to run at either 50/60hz depending on region. Because when these games were made the game speed is tied in with the clock speed of the game. That's why there is a discrepancy with game speed, slower for PAL at 50hz and faster for NTSC at 60hz.
Yeap and not only does it had all the render art endings for all 15 of the MK3 characters, it also had render art endings for 4 of the Ultimate characters (Scorpion, Reptile, Kitana, and Jade) too. These are render art endings that should had been in the original arcade Ultimate MK3 but were taken out for some reasons.
If you like the version of Trilogy in this video you can purchase it at gog.com for around 10-15 dollars. No complicated controller setup either it’s very straight forward.

NEVER lol thanks dude 👊🏼
@@BushyStallion 😂 np bro
The version of this game on GOG is actually the windows version, patched to work on newer systems. The original CD release of this game did support both Windows and DOS. Also some of the music in the GOG version plays at the wrong pitch and speed.
thanks gog 2 years ago were on windows 10-11 compatibility
If only the character select music can optionally be switched also to MKI and MKII themes, that would be perfect 🥲
That would be sweet.
Scorpion does not have his Pack fatality in Trilogy. It is replaced with Hell Hand, which needs to be performed from a certain distance. :/
He does have it
It is F F D U Run close I do it on the N64 all the time 🤷🏾♂️
@@jonathanberry8255 He doesn't have it on PC port, which is the version Derryl plays.
Yeah for some reason that fatality had been remove from the disc versions. Only the N64 version had that fatality.
I had the PS1 version and loved it.
One of the most amazing towards ever is Mortal Kombat three on the super Nintendo and Sega genesis is an unbelievable game especially for 95
Best version Ever....
This is the supreme way to play trilogy for sure! SO good but difficult!
Best way to defeat the big ole E match’s is get a hit on the enemy and take no damage or have most health and just walk back and forth till time runs out. The ai will just go back and forth with you.
This game only has one difficulty: Take All Your Quaters
This game had infinite credits, it can't take quarters.
Excellent strategy 👊🏼
I’m here for it
This is THE legit version to get in my opinion. It’s not a fan made Mugen but the real deal and at 15 bucks it’s definitely worth it! Thanks for the comment Ellen 🙏🏽
Love this version of the game.
Zero load time is always a wonderful thing!
PS1 was so slow at loading
I think the n64 version played better, but it was missing the boss characters and the older versions of characters like Raiden, Kano, Johnny Cage, etc
13:02 LOL
The deadliest animal of all
I found with Noob if you do his teleport slam into his teleport throw then into the cloud it's pretty much game over with most opponents
The version of MK Trilogy, I have on the laptop is similar to this. It has a patch, so it's playable on Win 10.
I like the game very much, but the AI is tough.....yet not impossible.
I mentioned this version on a comment a WHILE ago I told you it was the best version
Well I appreciate BOTH this and your last comment then lol 👊🏼
Back in the day I played this version long before the psx and n64 versions. Best version by far.
Between MK Trilogy and Blood Omen, I just felt bad for those who only played on psx versions not knowing about the superior pc versions with no loading.
The long loading on many things really harmed the PlayStation version.
Nice vid, tsung.
Do a playthrough as Shang Tsung! PLEASE 🙏🥺. I've always wondered about his morphs on PC version. My friend and I played the PS1 version as kids and the loading was awful. I own the N64 version which plays better but lacks some of the characters.
I was liking this version until I started hearing the stage music in the wrong stages..
Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the N64 was like $80 when it came out. No wonder the PS1 version sold more and was better in almost every way except the load times.
Legit the n64 was just umk3 but with smoke and khamelon
And audio from a toaster oven
It only sold more cause everyone had a PS1 at the time, there's not that many people who bought an N64 and most of the people who own a Sega Saturn didn't even play the Mortal Kombat games on there.
I've never seen a MSRP for a N64 game higher than 59.99. even at Kay Bee toys which was higher on most things.
Between mk 3 and this one for Dos there is some slight differences, the intro screen for mk 3 does not have the bank music and when your fighting on the stages of mk 3 it has the ending music for each stage/ finishing music at the end and as for trilijy the sound just cuts off when you win or lose a round.
To me, i see more frames in the graphics in the movement, and the rest like you said about it
Great Video Darryl
Thanks Ryan 👊🏼
@@lancepage1914 by default the PC game runs at around 63fPS.
You can adjust that with the kommunity patch though.
the mk trilogy version is good on n64 i played it about a month ago 😅 smooth loading, midway did a good job on trilogy
RELENTLESS.. I loved it on PS1 but this is #1. Instant - no loading over and over
No loading makes a big difference for sure 👍🏼
Ome of the biggest problems of the Pc version was getting the background music playing as well :(
I had the sega Saturn port it was pretty cool
Countless hrs playing the ps1 version with friends.
PS1 version had endings with art.
@ didn’t know the endings were not in the actual arcade for Ultimate characters.
When the game gets cheap I get cheap with Kintaro and spamming stomps and uppercuts.
The PC versions were always great!
Great ❤❤❤ best version ❤❤🎉
You can pick Jax from mk2 also.
MK Trilogy for MS-DOS
Arcade Perfect 👌
MK Trilogy was not released in the arcade though.
@@nickangelo16 Exactly.
I think there is a infinite loop you can do with human smoke. Pop him up, kick, teleport, spear, pop him up again.
Jax can also be changed to mk2 version
This is correct 👍🏼
Mortal Kombat trilogy version PS1 is best ❤ i like that version
You like God awful loading times? Lol ok
No i don't like it but i love version PS1❤@@NekroBroly
It’s a great version indeed 👊🏼
