One of the best videos explaining your journey with SL. Unfortunately, reducing housing is not an option as a single dad who went to college late in life with no family. 122K in Fed loans. Unless you live in an unsafe area, which is not much less but everywhere is 2K a month for 1-2 bedroom. Roommate situation can't do with a kiddo.

This is super helpful, thank you!! I have less than a year left of my DPT program and there are so many ways to take the next step after graduation that it is nice to hear how other people did it (and managed their finances). I love Dave Ramsey's books and classes, too. Thanks again!

Thank you for making this fantastic video! I am planning on attending DPT school at a state university, but it looks like I'll have 70k in loans including undergrad. I have been very worried about facing that much debt, but after watching your video I am much more confident I will be able to pay for it! I will be able to live with family while I attend school and in the near future afterward. Since my living expenses will be low, hopefully I will be able to attack that debt in under five years like you did, thank you for sharing your experience and advice!

Im planning on going to CSULB, I live about 15 miles away, hopefully I can commute and save a lot of housing money to limit my debt. DPT school is 82k now which is crazy

How much did you make monthly as a physical therapist?

You can see the median pay in the US for PT. When I started, I was near the bottom of average pay

The US really needs some sort of "nearly free" medical type degrees in return for say 4 years of service at hospitals of the governments choosing. Not a mandatory system but something available for people who prefer it.

If you work for a government organization or not for profit for 10 years, your loans will e forgiven. Or at least, that's the idea of the program.
