Hey thanks for this creative idea! I was able to fix the keypad carbon contacts of my vintage Uniden Sportcat SC150 scanner. I painted the broken traces with your conductive carbon paint then coated them with thin layer of nail polish. Now the number keys 4, 0, DATA, and PRIORITY keys are now working! I will try this next on my Panasonic Lumix camera with broken contacts on the rotary switch. Hope this works as well.

🤔 "coated them with thin layer of nail polish" that should have just OVER INSULATED your conductive coating, better would have been to have just added a trace of white glue as a binder

impressive but i also had similar questions. and i am not above average in this subject so please excuse my ignorance.
it is not obvious to me how you were able to use your hands to complete a circuit. and without knowing some estimate of voltage. is that 120 ac? i am in southern usa. so that is what we use for those type light bukbs. and that voltage or similar would certainly be a problem on what seems to be a papertowel
so i am asking basically is there some sort of known value of resistance anywhere in your model?
      awesome model either way

Hello, very good, your 2 very educational videos and I was reading the queries that you made about the project and I had some doubts.
1- you can use 1.5 old batteries already exhausted (sorry, my English is not very good and maybe I misunderstood its explanation in the video)
2- When using battery centers, not only graphite is incorporated, they also have the specific binders of each battery, so depending on the brand of battery, they may obtain a different conductive performance, it could perhaps be carried out in each case a measurement with a tester or multimeter preview and see its conductivity.
3- You proved that this paint has electrical resistance, you have to redo it, for example that commercial paints can draw a maximum of 1 meter of conductive wire.
4- and obviously, since they are drawn on paper, care must be taken of the load that is placed on it, since it can heat up like any resistance and produce fire due to the materials used.
5- For the dissolution of the core material of the 1.5v battery, you use common water, that is what I understood. or maybe you see this perdudique the conductive mix is a matter of trying and seeing what happens.
6- It would also be good as an experience to add more common water and see how the resistivity decreases and thus obtain a resistive table according to the ml of water that are added to the mixture
And finally they can carry out the same tests of the paper using fabrics. I am doing similar experiences with E-textile cyber_99x@hotmail.com

You would end up getting a more homogeneous paint if you would only use the crushed carbon rod, the other stuff is manganese dioxide wich doesn't dissolve in water. Because of this, your paint ends up being so chunky.

    video summary:
create a suspension of graphite powder in water (which you can get from carbon-zinc cells)
I recommend you use alcohol instead and you can use a binder like PVC or dextrin however, if you are making a heating element pick a bindr that won't decompose at the temperature.

Y would u use it with AC current ?
If u want to control any appliance you can use relay with transistor

    • @l0k048
      @l0k048 3 роки тому +1

the difference between ac and dc is that ac changes the polarity every 60 seconds, so it's pretty much the same thing on the wire. if you're thinking of ac from the wall, the main problem is not ac, is the voltage, which can cause the paint to heat up. i reccomend painting in something fireproof, with many layers of paint. it's still not optimal, if you plan doing something lilke controling an appliance, you can use wires, and a relay. closing/shooting a circuit will cause sparks in both the paint or copper wire, because the eletricity starts flowing before it has an optimal contact, witch creates resistance, and thus heat, melting metal and creating plasma, creating these sparks. also be sure to wear ppe and follow your local regulations for eletric instalations
