Dude the beginning story, hit home so hard. I was working for a company contracted by live nation that did stage setups for concerts. I tossed a water bottle off stage, a trivial thing, and my shoulder popped out of socket. Luckily they had a nurse on staff and they took me to the company trailer out back and I laid down for the nurse to pop it back in with no meds. One of the worst pains of my entire life (second only to a kidney stone) and I was full panic, convulsing from the pain, drenched in panic sweat. The nurse was a seasoned vet at these situations, and acted instantly. She jumped on top of my chest on her knees to keep me from writhing off the table, said she couldn't get it to pop back in if I'm flexing every muscle in my body from the panic and said I had to relax or it was going to keep hurting worse and worse. A note, she was a drop dead bombshell and she knew it. She got close to my face and said "do you like sex?" and gave me that look. Completely threw my brain out of the state it was in; I relaxed, and one jerk from the wrist and it snapped back in. That few seconds felt like an eternity from the adrenaline and I'll never forget a single detail of it, even the loud pop sound it made when it rolled back into socket. She knew exactly how to handle the situation and after all that had just happened the part that still sticks with me the most to this day was how vulnerable and exposed I felt afterward, like she hacked into my mind and knew it better than I did. It was like witnessing some jedi shit in real life. Your story brought back all of those memories of that moment like a wave crashing into me. Made the hairs on my arms stand up. Since then I have dislocated that same shoulder over a dozen times and every single time I think back to that moment and it keeps me from panicking, to the point where I've popped it back in myself several times ignoring the immense pain like that scene from Fight Club with the acid burn. I go to my "happy place" where all I see and hear is the memory of that blonde chick face to face sitting on my chest.
