My guess on female guards is that only aristocratic women are joining the guard. The overseers sound to still.be cracking down on women in 'nontraditonal' roles, but Emily seems to have.made.precedents for female.aristocrats, given her own guard captain is a woman
@@ericlewisauthor also gender roles can simply just work differently in this setting entirely- the empire is led by an empress with a male consort, and the street gangs (at least in dishonored 2) are pretty egalitarian in their structure
@@hoagie911 I don't think it's baseless. Considering the time period it is inspired by and the fact that there are no women in the regular grand guard position it is possible although I think the aristocratic theory is more likely.
Something I noticed about the mansion with the time traveling going on was that the guards in the past were actually educated and well spoken compared to the rest of the isle. It could just be me seeing things that aren't actually there but it did seem like those guards in the past were smarter and more kind and thus not as corrupt like the newer guards you face in the normal timeline.
Thank you very much. It's amazing what some simple fade/zoom/pan effects can accomplish. They do take a lot of time, especially using Openshot which crashes every few minutes!
Yep there might be more differences in fighting style and ability, but so far I haven't seen it documented. I do know metal parts of their gear can sometimes deflect bolts.
@@ericlewisauthor Similar to how overseers helmets deflect bolts. Also I love the anti police line at the end, I think a bottle street gangster said what I'm thinking perfectly, "Be careful around the Watch, they have no respect for the law"
I like that you used the USS Niagara Brig ship when talking about the Wynnedown battle. Nice touch! All of these videos you made concerning the lore of Dishonored is so fascinating. Thank you for sharing these with us fans of the series. :)
Thank you very much. I was looking for sea battle video clips I could use and found this war of 1812 documentary: ua-cam.com/video/Tq0LLB-X4is/v-deo.html
@@ericlewisauthor You're welcome! That is a very intriguing documentary. I recommend checking out USS Niagara's service in the Battle of Lake Erie. Commodore Perry's story and how the Niagara Brig helped him win the battle is truly memorable. :)
You mentioned that you don't encounter a General in the mainline Dishonored games, but you actually do! Two generals are present in Dishonored, one being General Tobias who converses with the Lord Regent, and General Turnbull, present in the non-lethal elimination of Arnold Timsh.
I notice that in dishonored 2 there is 9 female captains for every 1 male captain, i remenber My words when i was making gore combos, like " wth? All red ones are womans?" Now i know i was n the only one Who notice it
I love how obvious the real life inspo is, british red coats, the old on the beat coppers, then the French
The original game was just magical england to be fair even the white cliffs of Dover are in it... creativity called the white cliffs.
Lol
Its always a good day when a dishonored video is released hehe
Thanks, I hope you enjoyed it!
Is bizzare how hopeless this world is sometimes

Great point!

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed with Eric's needless and baseless insinuation.

Great video! Thank you for explaining the differences between officers and vertrans in dishonored 2, I was always confused by that.

True, but both of those are army officers, not city watch officers.
Shame we never see rifles, or shotguns
Oooo that last line in the video was so good, got me to subscribe immediately.
Dude is Byf for Dishonored
True
Love your channel and your videos! I too am a massive fan of Dishonored!

Hi ! Nice video, thanks !
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. If there's another lore topic you'd like a video on please let me know.
I wish I could figure out where everyone finds this info
The Dishonored Fandom Wiki is my main source for many details I want to get right.
Will you do a video on the books of the series?
Maybe! Lots to research.
Where do you find those images and informations?
Mostly the fandom wiki: dishonored.fandom.com/wiki/Dishonored_Wiki
What about overseers?
Yep I have a whole video just on them, check the lore playlist for all the topics I've covered so far.
