Yeah pretty much. This is Cyclops in comic book form best. He has insane spatial awareness, really great hand to hand combat fighter, amazing tactical analysis and strategy, and a powerful concussive optic blasts that can be adjusted from small to collateral damage.
Childhood is thinking that a Wolverine is the best X-Man. Adulthood is realizing that it was Chclops all along. He makes the tough decisions so the rest of them don’t have to.
The issue is also that Cyclops hasn't necessarily been portrayed in a way that does him justice all that much in the past couple decades. So most people who aren't massive comic fans don't have much context for him being awesome. Remember that the live-action movies did him no favors. Then X-Men Evolution had him as a kid, while characters that historically became X-Men way after him like Wolverine and Storm got to be teachers. Then there was a huge stretch of time in the comics where he was mostly portrayed as a jerk. 97 has definitely put more respect on Scott's name than just about any other project since TAS originally ended
I think many would be surprised that back when the 2nd gen team debuted, there were a decent number of readers writing in saying they hated Wolverine. It is true though that there is a generational component to it. If all the young ones know is the live action films, and the comics from the 00s onward... there is not a lot to like about Cyclops. But from the 60s - 90s, he's the heart and soul of the X Men.

And unlike Cap, Cyclops is more than willing to put his creativity to a test. Like he said in the episode - he aint Charles Xavier.

Those old shows were basically made with a budget they found in the studios couch. The people working on those shows had love for what they were doing, but back then those cartoons were only seen as extended toy commercials by the execs and they spent no more on them than they had too. Things are different today and the combination of better budget and tech lets them do so much more creatively when it comes to showcasing their powers.

The funniest shit is that he’d absolutely LOVE comic Scott from the 2000s onward. Scott literally just becomes a more refined Magneto by combining the best parts of Charles and Magneto’s philosophies. Magneto quite literally bends the knee to Scott and follows Scott’s lead after mutantkind has been nearly completely wiped out. Scott was the one who was their leader and kept them safe when their backs were against the wall and no more mutants were being born. Scott was the one who shepherded them through that. Wolverine joined up with the cops (the Avengers) to try and stop Scott. Scott is that guy.
The guy who story boarded and designed that fight sequence for Cyclops is a huge Marvels vs Capcom fan, and of course Cyclops is one of his favorite characters to play.

To answer your question about Cyclops, I can’t think of any animated* story in which he ditches the X-Men to do his own thing with other people. However, in the comics* he realizes that Professor X is wrong. So he becomes an anti-hero who leads his own team of more X-Treme X-Men with Magneto and Emma Frost. You might’ve heard “Cyclops was right” it’s a reference to “Magneto was right” and a popular pro-mutant slogan. Currently in the comics Scott is a fusion of the boy scout he started out as and the violent revolutionary he later became. Btw Cyclops was indeed right. Charles Xavier’s dream, although naive, isn’t wrong. However, Charle’s approach to achieving his dream is way too soft and passive, it lead to the loss of many innocent mutants (including children he sacrificed for the greater good). Magneto is no better, his overly aggressive methods only made humans more hateful, and he failed to protect thousands of mutants (look up what happened to Genosha). Cyclop’s balance between the two ideologies has pretty much become the modern political stance of nearly all the X-Men, including the Professor and Magneto. Cyclops did commit some war crimes but he was possessed by the Phoenix Force so it doesn’t really count. Phoenix Cyclops also made Charles go bye bye, but don’t worry he got better (because comics).

(I've read he tended to be sidelined quite a bit though.) That said, Cyclops in the comics even had a militant mutant arc where he was considered a villain depending on who you spoke to.
Its not even that he has an OP power; cyclops has been training with the professor since he was a kid. He has learned how to fight and use his powers extensively. Its the reason why for some of us who are original comic readers the cyclops presented in the movies has been so dissappointing. The guy can cook.

In wolverine and the x-men in the 2010s, They had to have wolverine lead the team because he was popular thanks to the movies. So in that show, cyclops left the x-men to look for Jean on his own, and he got some others to help him occasionally, like Psylocke. Plus Emma Frost was around in that show, to try and drag him toward the dark side. That's a guaranty of a good time. Like fake Iroh would say: "chose treachery, it's more fun!". They basically made him wolverine. If they had switched the two, so they would be more true to themselves character-wise, I'd consider this show the best non-comics x-men (I'm far from an x-men, or American comics, expert mind you). It was already quite good as is, getting beaten by only some of the best storylines (like "evolution"'s Apocalypse stuff)
I didn’t grow up with X-Men: The Animated Series, but I did watch X-Men: Evolution. I didn’t watch every episode when the series originally aired, but years later I saw the whole thing with a more open mind. Looking back, I actually did like that version of Scott. I do remember him being reluctant about going to a party, but after reaching some common ground with Kurt he decided to let loose a bit. He’s also a bit rebellious at times. He’s a teenager after all.
Cyclops has always been a badass. At one point, he didn't want to say that he had a "Plan B" because it implies that he stops having plans at "Z". He prefers plan 2. He then proceeds to pull out over 58 different tactics to handle the situation on the fly with no prep using the X-men members available in various combinations. It's not that the characters are animated to be stronger in this. This is just what they should be at their comic book levels. In some ways, this is actually not their full power either as their comic book counterparts are actually still stronger in the cases of Jean, Storm, Magneto, Emma Frost, Iceman, Rogue and more.

Cyclops is kind of always disrespected in the films in the worse way possible, even in the second timeline in favor of Wolverine, despite the fact that he was already popular to begin with. He never really showed what he can truly do with his abilities, combat and leadership skills. The only media that had ever truly done Cyclops right was the original animated series, X-Men: Evolution and here. They knew that they wanted to fix that this time around. I also loved the easter egg of actually calling Storm an omega level mutant in the show, which she is. Like Cyclops, Storm was limited in the films and half assed her powers. Storm, besides, Jean and maybe Rogue, are some of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe. If Storm really wanted to, she can destroy the planet at any time and remember, it also depends on how emotional Storm is or not. Storm is not to be messed with. She holds back and she knows it!
Cyclops in X-MEN Evolution was exactly what you described in your intro. I honestly have to disagree with you on why that's a bad thing. X-Men Evolution really showed how Scott could deal with loss and still be strong enough to lead a team.

Scott was always way more bad ass in the comics then what they tended to do to him in other media (the games are OK but still balance)

This is how Cyclops manifested his power first place. He was falling from a plane with his brother, their parachute catched fire and he used his optic blast to slow their fall
To answer your question about Cyclops, I can’t think of any animated* story in which he ditches the X-Men to do his own thing with other people. However, in the comics* he realizes that Professor X is wrong. So he becomes an anti-hero who leads his own team of more X-Treme X-Men with Magneto and Emma Frost. You might’ve heard “Cyclops was right” it’s a reference to “Magneto was right” and a popular pro-mutant slogan. Currently in the comics Scott is a fusion of the boy scout he started out as and the violent revolutionary he later became. Btw Cyclops was indeed right. Charles Xavier’s dream, although naive, isn’t wrong. However, Charle’s approach to achieving his dream is way too soft and passive, it lead to the loss of many innocent mutants (including children he sacrificed for the greater good). Magneto is no better, his overly aggressive methods only made humans more hateful, and he failed to protect thousands of mutants (look up what happened to Genosha). Cyclop’s balance between the two ideologies has pretty much become the modern political stance of nearly all the X-Men, including the Professor and Magneto. Cyclops did commit some war crimes but he was possessed by the Phoenix Force so it doesn’t really count. Phoenix Cyclops also made Charles go bye bye, but don’t worry he got better (because comics).

Conversely he and Scott don't get along very much, but outside the thing with Jean, they respect the HELL out of each other and when the shit hits the fan Logan does what Scott tells him and Scott trusts Logan when Logan goes off on his own because he knows it's important.

Morph originated in the original show but was a version of the the older character Changeling, Popularity of the 90s show basically led to the two characters being the same along with the comic based white blank face appearance appearing in this show which originated in the comics.
I was so happy to see Morph in this show!!! I loved his whole storyline in the original X-Men, and I can’t wait to see how they use Mr Sinister. Mr Sinister was my favorite villain of X-Men.😊

I wonder if the show Lee was referring to was Wolverine and the X-Men. I didn't watch it myself, but that had Logan as team leader which would have freed Cyclops from ordering people around. (I've read he tended to be sidelined quite a bit though.) That said, Cyclops in the comics even had a militant mutant arc where he was considered a villain depending on who you spoke to.

Yes, neither were good things, but also not completely his fault (Madelyne was completely Sinister's as Sinister admitted in his debut appearance).
Cyclops has previously used his blasts to slow his fall a few times, most famously as a child when his parents plane blew up, he used his blasts for the first time to slow his and havok's fall to the ground.

In wolverine and the x-men in the 2010s, They had to have wolverine lead the team because he was popular thanks to the movies. So in that show, cyclops left the x-men to look for Jean on his own, and he got some others to help him occasionally, like Psylocke.
Plus Emma Frost was around in that show, to try and drag him toward the dark side. That's a guaranty of a good time. Like fake Iroh would say: "chose treachery, it's more fun!".
They basically made him wolverine. If they had switched the two, so they would be more true to themselves character-wise, I'd consider this show the best non-comics x-men (I'm far from an x-men, or American comics, expert mind you).
It was already quite good as is, getting beaten by only some of the best storylines (like "evolution"'s Apocalypse stuff)

As a Gambit fan, I'm so glad X-Men 97 redeemed Scott and Remy. Two of the most bad ass characters in X-Men done dirty by the live action movies.
I didn’t grow up with X-Men: The Animated Series, but I did watch X-Men: Evolution. I didn’t watch every episode when the series originally aired, but years later I saw the whole thing with a more open mind. Looking back, I actually did like that version of Scott. I do remember him being reluctant about going to a party, but after reaching some common ground with Kurt he decided to let loose a bit. He’s also a bit rebellious at times. He’s a teenager after all.

Cyclops has always been a badass. At one point, he didn't want to say that he had a "Plan B" because it implies that he stops having plans at "Z". He prefers plan 2. He then proceeds to pull out over 58 different tactics to handle the situation on the fly with no prep using the X-men members available in various combinations.
It's not that the characters are animated to be stronger in this. This is just what they should be at their comic book levels. In some ways, this is actually not their full power either as their comic book counterparts are actually still stronger in the cases of Jean, Storm, Magneto, Emma Frost, Iceman, Rogue and more.

I do understand what homie on the right was saying as far as Cyclops goes and that is the fault of the writers for the films. Yes, he did had some of his annoying moments but at the end of the day, people liked the character for a reason. Cyclops is kind of always disrespected in the films in the worse way possible, even in the second timeline in favor of Wolverine, despite the fact that he was already popular to begin with. He never really showed what he can truly do with his abilities, combat and leadership skills. The only media that had ever truly done Cyclops right was the original animated series, X-Men: Evolution and here. They knew that they wanted to fix that this time around. I also loved the easter egg of actually calling Storm an omega level mutant in the show, which she is. Like Cyclops, Storm was limited in the films and half assed her powers. Storm, besides, Jean and maybe Rogue, are some of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe. If Storm really wanted to, she can destroy the planet at any time and remember, it also depends on how emotional Storm is or not. Storm is not to be messed with.

Cyclops in X-MEN Evolution was exactly what you described in your intro. I honestly have to disagree with you on why that's a bad thing. X-Men Evolution really showed how Scott could deal with loss and still be strong enough to lead a team.
