A bit premature I'd say. I was trying to figure out why my iPhone does not have this update in the queue. Perhaps you would consider stating your review is of the Beta.

I'm relieved to think that when iOS 17.2 comes out officially, we'll hopefully be able to swap to a more audible default alert sound!!! The recent loss of this is DIRE! Do you think it will work with Apps that are 3rd party and not Apple, importantly for things like WiFi home security camera alerts, video doorbells such as Blink, Ring etc? They might as well not be there since iOS 17!

Google maps has had downloadable maps for years but not walking maps only driving. Does imap download walking?

Love your vids. Unfortunately with this one very few apply to my Xs Max. Journal app did not even install but that’s ok since I wouldn’t use it and would complain when I couldn’t remove it.

Hi great video but I am hoping you or someone can help me on another upgrade problem I’m having. I have a new 3rd gen iPhone SE and it just updated to 17.1.2. Now iTunes on my old Mac which has El Capitan OS software which I know is also old but now iTunes won’t recognize my iPhone SE. Any suggestions for fixing this would be appreciated. Thank you

I was just alerted by a friend about the Journaling app. If you go to settings/Privacy & Security, scroll down to Journaling Suggestions, the Discoverable By Others default setting is On which allows other to detect you are nearby to help prioritize their suggestions. I switched this setting off. I don't use the app but it seems to me to be a possible security issue.
I had software update 17.1.2 installed last week but so far no 17.2.1. So many of those features do not show (yet) on my Phone 14 Pro max.
Presumably we will get that update in the next few weeks up here in the frozen north .....

With the scan disk XPand drive, you can download and record videos with my iPhone 14 ProMax.
No tricks just frustrated. I used to be able to play music on my iPad or iPhone while doing other things. Now when I move to another app from say Pandora or Spotify or UA-cam, the sound cuts off. There must be a fix for this. Can you advise please.

Does the maps app for IPhone have a satillite view? I like being able to see buildings in my map. I use google maps because I can do that.

Earlier today, I had to help my 80 year old mother with her 14 pro max haha. She read on Facebook “there was this update bug that allows someone to take all of your information”…. Eventually I figured out it was the name drop thing haha

Hmmm... I just got a brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max and have a couple of iPads running 17.1.2. However, I don't see a new Journal app anywhere..... No default alerts under sounds & haptics. And no contact key verification in the settings under my name.
These will supposedly be released mid December 2023 with the update to 17.2. David is probably using the Beta version.

17.2 is on Beta4, it'll be out in 2 weeks.

Most to all of these features will come with iOS 17.2 late December. As long as you have iOS 17, most of these features should be accessible to you

17.2 is on RC release. It will be out to the public between 11 - 15 of December.
I love the offline maps feature. I set the map app to use offline map always because it uses less power and my phone doesn’t get so hot. If I need traffic information I open google maps.
Does Apple Maps not have traffic info? I do tend to use Google maps more, but just wondering.
@@Powerstroke98 Neither Apple Maps or google maps have traffic info for offline. What he is saying is that google maps doesn't heat up his phone. I have never had Apple Maps heat up any of my iPhones. But I digress

Yeah, i get why they dont put everything on old devices. Mine is 3 generations previous. A few falls and it starts to crack. I can ser the inside of my phone, its a beast but itll be dead soon.

For notifications sounds I don’t have an option that says default alerts? I have the iPhone 14 Pro Max?
This is on the 17.2 (which is on RC release). 17.2 will be out to the public between 11 - 15 of December.
After that update the Apple Store don’t open have to turn off automatic date and back 1 month that way fix for me 😢

Unfortunately they did not fix the contacts app. The screen is still full of blank space.
Just updated, but as usual, upon reboot from update EVERYTHING, cell, WiFi, and BT, all on. Turn off, reboot, settings REMAIN AS IS. I’m gonna try again.

Question: new iphone 15pro, fully charged, wifi off, blue tooth off, in airplane mode, Zero use: looses 5% battery/day! Why??
Some of these, like name drop and crop, are not new to 17.2. They’ve been there since 17 came out. at least on my phone
Great observation! We covered namedrop in this video due to the recent news on namedrop and police officials telling the public to turn it off! As for crop, we like to show off little tidbits that other may not know as well! Thanks for watching!

I’ve just updated to the newest iOS version and mine does not have default ringtones, and does also not have that feature of key verification

The Default Sounds option is only available in iOS 17.2, available mid to late December
Since the 17.2 update, I have to keep switching my iPhone off and on just to charge the thing. I’ve tried several chargers, and it’s the same for all of them. 🤦🏻♂️
