Classic Lorries 1986-AEC Mercury & Mammoth Major Dump Trucks at Work on the A12 Chelmsford By-Pass

It's 1986 and the second A12 Chelmsford (Essex) By-pass road is under construction. On this upload we see AEC Mercury, Mammoth Mercury and other lorries, at work on the construction site. These vehicles we very much not road legal and had all been brought second, or third hand, for this sort of work, and ferried between sites as required. No, they were taken around to different road building projects. Although not road legal they were solid, reliable machines! Some went on to work at the A2 By-Pass in Eltham, as seen here ua-cam.com/video/T-0N_fuih_I/v-deo.html

The lorries were owned by one man who paid drivers as he required them.....
