This isn't advancing the timing on this pump. A p pump yes high pressure common rail no. Your injectors don't open until the ecm tell them to.
@@ajmagesthats advanced timing as he states in video. Its only milliseconds. Typically done by chip yes to open injection port on injectors early or late. Any alterations on input shaft is advancing timing.

You can't...not without an ECU flash or equivalent procedure. Technically speaking, it's not regarded as **strictly** necessary to time a common rail pump.

what's a cheap way to tune a 99 model 7.3 power stroke in my old f350 dually that's only got 3006,000 miles on it and primarily used for pulling horse and cattle trailers around

Yes. The internals are like a cam shaft and lobe design instead of gears, so theoretically even if it fails, no metal shavings.

The more i learn about the new trucks the less i want one.
So what are S&S gonna do for us that already installed without "timing", since now in last quarter of the year they will sell them with a roll pin so we can time. Just sucks cause I already shelled out $1500 for the install and 2k for a pump. Should've trusted my gut and waited a year on this.

Hi just had a DCR installed in my 2011 F350 6.7 I have knocking noise from the gear at idle
So the installer is going to put a new one in at no cost to me he said S&S is aware of the knocking noise some installers on you tube say that they put lots of DCR in with no knocking noise
Why does the timing matter if there is no keyway?
It will be keyed soon. The first pumps out will not. They have found that the harmonics can be out of balance if not timed. It doesn't have to be precise and they yet to see any issues if pumps are "out of time" but S&S and Wade agreed that we should just play safe for everyone's sake.

@@repairvehicle yeah the redneck timing comment is just tongue and cheek. This “timing” is about harmonic balance.
@@thoroughbreddieselwell for context of this video, you are " timing" a non timing pump. Thats where i got confused. Not 100% familiar with "your" product. I am an evt tech used to ism, dd13 dd15 etc. Just curious. Didnt mean to start a debate
