Janet was on top of the world in the mid 90s and did this song to support her brother who was facing abuse charges. Janet does not get the accolades but she has a more diverse catalog.
You are absolutely rigth! Actually, she did'not needed to record this song. Michael knew that. He chose her production team for this song and she chose the director, MArk Romaneck
Alright, some backstory about this song. Scream is the most expensive music video ever costing MJ 7-10 million to make. they had to build that set and the anti-gravity chamber where he was bouncing on the walls. MJ and Janet wrote this song together. And MJ and Janet were both facing heat at this time MJ for the court stuff and Janet for defending him. So they teamed up (Yes, this is the only song thy have together) in this song to give a kinda of middle finger to the media as MJ does from time to time (Leave me alone, This Time Around, Unbreakable, etc). Janet also wanted to do the song to hang out with MJ as had been gone writing dangerous and on tour and court dates but when the time came from them to shoot the video MJ's team isolated him from her every chance they got.
Was watching this on Playstation, and came here on my phone to leave a comment about the cost of the video and other stuff, but you damn near covered everything in yours.
JANET, MICHAEL, AND THE JACKSONS ARE ALL IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME, NUF SAID! That in itself is an amazing family legacy! Janet agreed to do this song in support of Michael, but she did want to be established as a successful artist in her own right before doing a song with Michael as not to be seen as riding his coattails and fame!
Michael Jackson wrote the scream cause in the media he is sick and tired of the media accused him as a child molester and he is totally innocent and the Media keep on bashing him with untrue story that Michael Jackson never did so this basically this song is diss track to the Media same thing with leave alone Janet help his brother for song
16:04 you'd be surprised to find out (or not) Prince and Michael had their share of gay rumours back in the day simply because of that. Nowadays we don't really bat an eyelid as much, but it was a big deal back then
just saw this reaction, it popped up on youtube, im from ireland. great reaction!, how he doesnt know that song is nuts, he needs you to show him tmore of the goat! Peace and love to you both!! hee hee!
Great reaction! I have 2 recommendations for you, one to possibly react to on the channel and one to watch at your leisuire. Another song Michael did on the same album as this song is "This Time Around." He goes in on the guy behind the first false child molestation allegations and Biggie raps on it too. No official video, just audio but, you'll love it. The other recommenation is a documentary you can find here on UA-cam called "Square One: Michael Jackson." It goes into great detail about what really happened with the first allegations and how it connects to the ones that came afterwards. It's very educational and unbiased.
I remembered not knowing any lyrics to this song but singing along anyways. My sister and I MASTERED that frickin dance tho. But bet we cant do it now in our late 30s if you paid us LoL. But now im old enough to understand the lyrics and i mean. Literally UNDERSTAND the lyrics,it his so different. Long story medium... I get it now.
Dope you finally got to see this video. Better late than never. Since ur fiance hasn't really checked Janet's videos/catalogue, it would be fire to see his reaction to her body of work/art. She is definitely the female Michael, creatively insane. For Janet, check out I Get Lonely (the original not the remix) IF Rhythm Nation Here's some footage of them 2 writing Scream: ua-cam.com/video/lSorcY7q1a0/v-deo.html And last note, the Jackson 5 were bigger then the Beattles. Media doesn't focus on them the same but his brother's were insanely famous and are just as talented. They just don't get the cred now. Check them out too and you'll see.
The situation with the baby balcony was irresponsible but you have to add full context to it. MJ's kid is just born and you remember how he was covering their faces and stuff so the paparazzi couldn't do to his kids what they do to him. Ok, MJ is in London (I think) at a hotel and fans and paparazzi are outside chanting "Hey, Michael meet the family!" over and over for hours, the paparazzi are doing everything they can to get the first picture of MJ's newborn. They're trapping him in the hotel in bathrooms trying to sneak cameras under the stalls, etc. So MJ goes to the balcony with his baby and shows it off so they'll leave him alone. Was is an insane choice yea but after days of that everywhere you go, I get it. But the media snaps the picture of him with the baby over the balcony and goes "MJ dangles baby off balcony this guy's crazy!!" and yea if you only see that picture/video without the rest of the story you'd think that but with full context its a bit more understandable.
Although Janet is also famous I don’t think she could have fully understand what Michael went through. I mean he couldn’t even go to the grocery store, mall, or amusement park without wearing a mask or shutting the places down. That’s crazy.
Yes Michael was aware that he had a lot of young fans and generally never cursed. But… we all have our breaking point. This video cost 7 million dollars to make, and was (is?) the most expensive music video ever made.

Michael and Janet wrote the song with Janet's frequent collaborators; Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

there was a floor under the balcony .. it looked so bad cuz of the angle of the pic
