    Born in Fort Myers in 1952. Family was in Florida when it was still a territory. Left Florida in 1999. This has been heart breaking to watch. I pray they do not over build and destroy the beaches again.

    Glad to see progress being made but really sad that these fun parts of people’s lives are destroyed. We lost our sea ray sedan bridge to Charlie in 04 so know how it feels

    I think that marina looks like sludge pond , those boats are only a few feet under water and they look like they were sunk in an oil field

    Tugboat raven sank at bonita bills during the storm. Would be amazing if you could get the time lapse video of my brothers boat being raised when the time comes.

    I have to say, compared to what we saw after Katrina, you guys are moving at light speed as far as cleaning up and fixing things back! I'm still surprised at how many boats survived that were on the moorings there in Fort Myers. My respect for the people who installed and maintain those moorings has risen immeasurably!

    Everything in this video screams $money$! The equipment, the losses, the man hours.

    Things need desperately need to change and fast. Hurricane season 2023 is just 6 months away. I know they will still be rebuilding from Ian and Nicole. I am not being negative but honest and truthful. Another thing the Media act like Ian only hit Fort Myers Beach and Nicole hitting the east coast. What about the other people who lost everything home, cars maybe their jobs. It sad money rule everything in America. They pay more taxes than the wealth give them some coverage.

    Many of the boats seen here are total losses. The fuel tanks and motors will have to be pulled and cleaned up. Some of the gear, props, shafts, cleats, ect. might be good for salvage.

    So I guess you can leave a boat unattended and in gear while no one’s on board? Don’t remember that chapter while getting my 100T NC.

    I read somewhere that it may be YEARS before some of the canals--especially in residential areas--are cleared of sunken boats.

    Why are they cutting holes in the boat to drain the water out they have sea cocks built into the boat already.. Think of That...

    • @dannyt9067
      @dannyt9067 Рік тому +2

      The sea cocks are connected to a hose and used to cool the engines, generator etc. The boat is full of water so they cut the holes to get all the water weight out. They don’t want to lift the boat with thousands of pounds of extra weight.

      It’s easier to cut holes and safer for personnel, don’t have to enter. Boats are likely auctioned off.
