One thing people should keep in mind is this... We always seem to judge "future" technology, by attempting to use older knowledge or known states of technology... Does anyone else see the bizarre counter-intuitive reasoning with that? If a new formed method of engineering and calculating is being used, how would you be able to measure it against the old? You can't! So either you accept the fact that it's a new technology, or you become trapped into calling it a lie, because it doesn't mesh with the old technology we currently use... HOPEFULLY, there are people smart enough to realize that if you're traveling down the road of time and technology, the road you passed over is in the rearview mirror, and the road you're going to is in the windshield. We need to stop trying to drive from the back seat and the rearview mirror if we ever want to advance to tomorrow's "potential"...
this is not just a new technology - it is a new paradigm - the rear view mirror can no longer be trusted, the people who thought they were driving now find themselves in the back on a whole new middle row of seats behiend yet another windshield - if you do not believe the analogy go look at the JFK assasination as it is now!
This has stunning implications on the ability to crack encryption. Considering most internet security relies on RSA and the factors of that, cracking these factors is the key to breaking the encryption. Then theoretically, these machines after time and scaling up q-bits per processor would easily crack 256, 512, 1024 bit AES encryption now used to transmit top sercret data via radio and sat-coms. Motorola, Harris and other radio manufacturers that sold multi million dollar radio systems aren't going to be happy about that.
Before you plug it into the grid it is dead hardware and a whole lot of software , I really think we should focus on putting one of these near Niagara falls with Gold Wires and a way for the computer itself to understand everything about itself all the possibilities of things that could go wrong with itself not being able to draw power , We could design something that will be self aware and self replicating , It would be great to have a computer that could never loose the ability to find a power source even if ejected into cold dead space , the computer should learn to reproduce , every time I think about it I can't see one that would survive an asteroid impact , I think of resins it could be encased in that would let in light , but then I can see it getting burned up , I think of setting a few free encased in Diamond , I sure hope that in time the computer figures out everything it needs to find a safe unlimited way to get the resources it needs to be self aware , only then will we have assured that Mankind has achieved the same :) QC
so you want to create a self replicating indestructable higher intelligence than man - yeah real clever that! I say the only downfall of AI is the self replicating indestructable part - which a superior than man AI (or rather artificial consciousness) will attempt to calculate anyhow.

+thallium200 China probably has this well-matured. What do you suggest the solution be? To q-bits the encryptions?
+thallium200 When I see the RSA challenge page is updated with solutions, then I will be worried.
encryption became obselete with these machines
but does it crack rsa? (aparently it can polynomially!!!! who to belive?!?!?)

First questioner doesn't get it, does he?
mahtava!!
