  • Complementing the Australian climate, Brighton East 4 is a mid-century inspired home crafted to meet the demands of a young family. Designed and built by InForm, the house takes inspiration from Palm Springs.
    Settled into the same-named Melbourne suburb, Brighton East 4 articulates quintessential Australian living. As a mid-century inspired home, the residence has an informal, open-plan layout and natural materiality, including the use of stone and timber.
    Architecturally, Brighton East 4 curves, further evidencing its existence as a mid-century inspired home. Present in both the external and internal architecture, curves effortlessly unify the outdoor and indoor aspects of the home, creating fluidity and softness.
    Natural materials are a key feature of a mid-century inspired home and are incorporated throughout the project. Behind the staircase sits a feature wall of stack-bond brickwork, whilst the bathroom sees terrazzo used generously. In the kitchen, the island bench sports an elegant stone top, with slatted timber battens at its base.
    Showcasing their proficiency in architecture and interiors, InForm craft a comfortable residence with a strong sense of spatial flow. As a mid-century inspired home, Brighton East 4 testifies to its Palm Springs influence through a natural and restrained materiality.

    There is simplicity in the design but nothing simple - gorgeous curves, skylights, details and very muted but sophisticated colors. I would've loved to see a bit more landscaping - especially against the wall where the master bedroom is situated.

    I want this house. Thankyou for sharing. I just LOVE this house, the Only thing….the garden….i think I saw gums/eucalyptus trees planted?? They would have to go…..the leaves will drive you nuts….and right next to the pool! Also, I think the vanity cabinets in the master bath would have looked better in wood. Would have given a bit more warmth and ‘nature’ to the bathroom making it a bit more serene and ‘spa’ like. The light over the kitchen island is simply stunning!

    The houses are always beautiful, but some of the comments are a distraction. “They did it with a sense of materiality.” C’mon folks. The narration is more gobbledygook than anything.

    • @jl9678
      @jl9678 2 роки тому +2

      Architects use the gobbledygook to improve their income potentiality. In the last vid posted the architect owner actually used materials instead of materiality and I almost fell out of my chair. The last time I heard an architect say materials was in 89 or so when Phillip Johnson said they used rich materials to make a simple project more architectural.

      as an interior designer, we use language to romanticize the vision. [brown or coffee/espresso/java/chocolate] it's all about presentation. just like the videography adds to the experience, language does as well.

    • @jl9678
      @jl9678 2 роки тому

      @@lizasoliman723 if some called a brown wall chocolate I would become immediately suspicious of grandiosity. You can call it anything you want but marble look tile is still only just clay, "chocolate" is just a haughty word for brown, gold plated anything is just pot iron under it. No one is getting fooled.

    What I like in this house is it's structure with big sheltered outdoor space and the beautiful kitchen area but other than those aspects this house looks a bit sterile and I'm normally not someone to call modern builds sterile.. there is just no sense of who the people in the house are given that a family lives there and this is not (?) an ad for selling it I find it strange..

    The humility in this design is so extreme. "Material restraint" proves that there are no excuses for bad design.

    Not enough colour if you want to claim the “mid century” tag. The purely white palate does not allow the materials to shine!

  • @firouz4296
    @firouz4296 2 роки тому +9

    Lots of fancy words for a very average house and design. The „all white“ and „neutral palette“ don’t really help.
    Its cold, generic and very contrary to what mid century actually was.
    It is NOT enough to copy the proportions and the measurements and call it mid century!
