Today, February 3, 2024 marks 20 years since Jason's death. It's a shame he decided to take his own life too soon. I don't judge him, he had his reasons and we must respect that, I just hope you now are in a better place and at peace. Always remembered never forgotten. Rest in peace Jason Raize Rothenberg.
This was my favorite song in the whole show. I that when they put Lion King on DVD for the first time and picked out a song from the Broadway show to animate that they did this one.
1:46 “sleepless I dream of the day” Gah I think that is my favorite line in the entire of the musical, and possibly any musical period. And you can tell by his smile he likes it too. I can’t explain why it makes me so happy.
One of my all-time favorite vocal performances. Jason is one in a LONG list of superstar talents that I attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy with. When you can top your studio recording night in and night out that is the definition of a Broadway star, and Jason was just that!
26 years on Broadway without him. 20 years that he left us too soon. Until this year as a fan i use to dream that all African backup singers sings "we sangoma ngi velelwe we baba ngivelelwe we baba ngivelewe" all the time and then he sings "i know. Yes i know. The sun will rise. Yes i know. I know. The cloud must clear. I know that the night must end. I know that the sun will rise. Til i hear your voice deep inside. I know that the night must end. And that the cloud must clear. Oh the sun the sun will rise. The sun the sun will rise". Beautiful and true story. We miss you Jason. Our Simba, MY Simba. Your lion to us. FOREVER.
It’s so tragic that Jason Raize committed suicide during his lifetime. That poor man had a whole life ahead of him. For he had such great talent in that amazing musical.
What had happened to him ? He is a great performer and have amazing talent of acting and singing definitely number one for the world to see the lion king on broadway live stage to bad is not on a film as dvd
So sad Jason is not here today to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Lion King in 2022. Rest in peace King Jason/Simba.

This song plays out just like many of the great Psalms. Such obvious Biblical inspiration
